To my question as to which states allow felonies to vote?---As of 2010 I found:

(1) States where prisoner, probationers, & paroles can vote (2 states: ME, VT)

(2) States where probations & paroles can vote (13 states plus DC: DC, HI, IL, IN, MA, MI, MT, NH, ND, OH, OR, PA, RI, UT)

(3) States where only probationers can vote (5 states: CA, CO, CT, NY, SD)

(4) States where all people with felony convictions can vote upon completion of their sentence (20 states: AK, AR, GA, ID, IA, KS, LA, MD, MN, MD, NE, NJ, NM, NC, OK, SC, TX, WA, WV, WI)

(5) States where only some people with felony convictions can vote (8 states: AL, AZ, DE, FL, MS, NV, TN, WY)

(6) States where all people with felony convictions are permantly not allowed to vote (2 states: KY, VA)

In March 2010 a proposed FEDERAL bill, called the Democracy Resotoration Act (H.R. 3335) sponsored by John Conyers (D-Mich.) and many members of the Congressional Black Caucas would require ALL states to allow felons to vote in federal elections once they're released from prison. The bill notes that "state disenfranchisement laws disproportionately impact racial and ethnic minorities" and that, "given current rates of incarceration, approximately one in three of the next generation of African-American men weill be disenfranchised at some point during their lifetime."

It really depends on how long certain prisoners stay.

For example, if someone is Serving a 60-year sentence, it wouldn't be likely to get out of jail (its no difference against a life-time sentence).

But my guess is around 35 years or below, depending on what you did, if you give the Patrols, Securitys, etc. a good attitude and behavior, your sentence for prison maybe cut off up to 1/2 the time.

Ask the parole agent, if you are sentanced and or released and are just waiting for the hold to be lifted, then your just waiting for your parole agent to release the hold and your free to go. my boyfriend has a parole hold, so if he goes to jail, and charges are dropped, he has to wait for his Parole agent to lift the hold.

Question cannot be answered in any exact timeframe. The PB must first consider the request - approve it - act on it - then accomplish the administrative paperwork necessary to authorize the relaease - arrange to have them assigned to a parole officer for monitoring and follow-up.

"In lieu of" means "instead of". If some service is ordered "in lieu of" probation then some other form of monitoring will be used such as a substance abuse program or residential commitment.

If you SUCCESSFULLY completed your probation sentence and were released from probation by the judge who sentenced you, you cannot now be charged with a VOP. HOWEVER, if you only THINK that your probation expired but you haven't gone to court to hear the judges discharge, you are NOT released just because the date came and went. The key words are "SUCCESSFULLY completed" and "were DISCHARGED" by the judge.

Carefully read your probation papers or ask your probation officer. If your travel is not specifically restricted you should be able to. Don't be gone so long that you miss any appointments or court dates!
