Are you putting the correct gas in? Have you changed the fuel filter? This is very important and if neglected it can cause the car to idle roughly, and lack power (RPM's will appear lower) and shudder when you try and increase power from 30-40 and 60-70mph.

I would change the fuel filter, use the correct gas, and consider having the fuel system flushed with Sea Foam. It will cost you about $10 for the fuel filter and you can get the whole system cleaned at Sears or any basic maintenance center.

When the fuel filter becomes clogged the car may start but it will act like it is not performing well. Gas consumption will be higher, power lower.

Does it ever act like it wants to cut out when you drop speed, come to a stop at lights and idle? This all points to the fuel system and I would recommend changing that filter once a year!

How do you replace a power window motor on a 1995 Pontiac Firebird?

How do you replace a power window motor on a 1995 Pontiac Firebird?

Oh man... this is the same problem with my wifes F150. If you drill through the inner door sheet metal or plastic you can access the final of three rivets. To remove the motor you have to drill out the rivets. Get a rebuilt motor for about $80 (ouch) and reassemble with the nuts and bolts that were included in the box, that replace the rivets. I think I had to cut the wires and solder up the original connector to the motr. The wires were color coded. You can try to remove the window and regulator as an asembly.. but you would be a fool. Drill. It'll take you under a half hour.

Are all Pontiac 400 blocks the same If I put 1967 670 heads on a 1977 Pontiac 400 will it have high compression like 10.5 to 1?

Essentially, yes. The Pontiac 400 is the same block all the way through the years. The biggest change is motor mount holes and locations. In fact, all 326-455 Pontiac engines are the same externally and will accept heads, cams, rods, intakes, etc from each other. All but the Ram Air V. But if you are lucky enough to own one of those, you already know all the information about them.

The biggest concerns with your proposed head swap would be valve angle and compression ratio. If you run 670 heads you will have at least 10.5 to 1. You'll need some very high octane fuel to run it. I am not 100% sure which 1967 heads had the old valve angle, but in 67 Pontiac was in transition of changing valve angles to the 68-79 version. Make sure to check piston to valve clearance.

Why does your lights dim and your car sounds like it wants to cut off when you pres the breaks?

my 94 firebird does the same thing. when i go to stop it tries to die and my lights dim. The place where your air comes in your engine there is a flap. when you press the gas it opens to let more air in. when you let off the gas the flap sticks open letting too much air come in the engine. just clean it with throttle body cleaner and it should stop the problem. you have to take the air hose off going to your engine to get to it.

# Raise and safely support the vehicle. # Drain the cooling system into a suitable container. CAUTION

When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
