Why the security light flashes when igniting a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix?
This usially means the system in control of anti-theft (via the black block on your key) is inoperable and is being bypassed.
that is not going to be possible because gm has a anti-theft system on all grand am's 1999 and newer and if you try and steal it it will run for a few seconds then die and the security light will come on and disable the fuel pump
I have the same problem and I was told, by the dealer, that the fuel pump module isn't holding the correct pressure after a "warm soak" and needs to be replaced to the tune of $1,000.

2004 Pontiac Grand Am stop fuse?
one fuse panel is on the passenger "end" of the dash (open door to see it) lift up - then out to open it it has a usage chart on the inside of the panel if there is a fuse it will be listed there
...keep in mind that it may not be an electrical issue. There is a spring that holds the display module within you dash and the part that holds the spring has been known to break which causes the display module to swing out of range. You can find out if this is the case by first making sure your HUD is turned on, then while looking at the spot in your windshield where you would normally see your HUD display, drop your head down low...keep lowering your head and you might be surprised to see a tiny bit of your display. This would indicate that it a broken spring or spring hook.
If you have the courage, you can take apart you dash and fix the problem yourself, otherwise seek a qualified mechanic.
Does a 2001 Pontiac grandprix have cabin air filter?
I just opened up my cowling on the passenger side to replace it and there was no filter in it. I assume it was not specified for this particular year and model. Undaunted I went to the local Canadian Tire Autoparts store and asked at the parts counter for the Air Filter for the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT (figured the Cabin Filter might come up as an associated search in their data base). Sure enough the Cabin Air Filter that fits perfectly was a FRAM (Fresh Breeze) CF8392A.
The filter came with easy to follow installation guide complete with pictures.
One common problem with this yr/mk/model is the gasket that isolates the Air intake chamber from water entering from the windshield area comes off and lets water get inside the cars fan motor.
I fixed mine by cleaning the grove and used silicone sealant to affix it back in the original placement (moulding sits flush to the outside edge to the left). I used masking tape to hold it in position until the silicone started to set (about 1/2 hour.
The whole time required was 15-20 minutes (not counting silicone drying time)and easy to do. You have to let the silicone set for about 1 hour

How do you test a block heater on a Pontiac g6?
Easiest is to plug in the block heater cord with the hood open. Follow the cord to where the block heater is located and you should hear a gurgling sound similar to an electric kettle. If you don't check your power source. If you can reach the block heater unplug the cord from it and check the power at the end that plugs into the heater with a 2 prong tester to make sure it's not the cord causing the problem.
How do you take off governor on Pontiac Grand Prix 2006?
The governor is located under the left side of the muffler bearing. It is very simple, undo four screws and two wing nuts and it should pop right off! After I did mine it topped out at 194.6 mph before I accidently hit my stock ejector seat button, my 22" awesome wheels flew off, my sweet system blew up and killed all of my 3 amazingly hot girlfriends in the backseat, and I realized how much of a homosexual I was for driving a grand prix!
What is the tire size for the 2005 Pontiac grand prix?

Can low coolant level cause Check Engine light to come on?
Possible, but not likely. The check engine light is mainly for emission failures not fluid levels. Have it checked for codes to know the cause.

Why do your windshield wipers stay in the up position when turned off on your 2001 Gran Prix?
If your turning Ignition Key off while they are working, then 99.9% of cars will do that, because it was stopped in cycle mode, and then will continue when key is turned back on.
If they are staying up when you turn the switch off on directional lever. Then you most likely have a bad wiper motor, the Reset/Down mode in off cycle is gone.
They go, but can also be agrevated by leaving wipers in up position accross windshield during cold weather, freezing rain or snow will make them stick to glass, then when you start vehicle, the Motor tells them Go, But wipers say No! and can ruin wiper motor.
Always retract to off position, or fold out away from windshield when parked during bad weather.
The wipers on my 02 Grand Prix would work perfectly but when turned off, they would "rest" in the vertical, or up, position. I took the wiper arms off, and the plastic cowling under the windshield. Took the plastic cover off of the motor and saw that the metal tab on the mount was bent. I bent the tab back towards the motor so as the cam spun, it would catch that tab. I wasn't real confident that it would work but it did. I'm glad I didn't waste my money to buy a new motor.
No dash light no tail lights on a 2002 grand prix?
Same thing happened to my 2002 Grand Prix. There is an electric distribution box under the hood on the passenger side fender well. Inside, there is a 20 amp mini fuse, #37, labeled "Parking". If this fuse is blown you will have no dash lights or rear running lights.
The cause for my fuse blowing was due to a wire that was getting smashed when my gear selector on the floor console was in "Park". There is a light bulb that illuminates to show what gear you are in (Park,Reverse,Neutral,Drive...). The wires for that light bulb were too long and would get pinched when the shifter was all the way forward in the "Park" position. I was able to tape the pinched wires and anchor them out of the way with a plastic cable tie. Hope this helps you.
bank one is before the catalitic converter, or the front sensor ( on the front exhaust manifold)
What fuse controls the horn on 2004 Pontiac grand prix?

How do you squeeze tensioner on 1999 grand prix gt to change serpantine belt?
Use a 3/8" drive ratchet and insert it into the square 3/8" slot on the tension wheel and turn appropriately.
Most of today's vehicles are of such low compression ratio that there is truly no need for premium fuel. Premium only helps when the engine is "high compression". The simple fact is, your engine will work better and give you fewer injector related problems if you buy "fresh" fuel that has not been sitting at the filling station for a long time. Older fuel tends to be more likely to result in deposits on the injectors.
Answer 2Yes, you really do need to use premium (defined in the owner's manual as 91 octane or above) fuel in your GTP. This is because the higher output of the engine using the compressed air from the supercharger will be more prone to detonation (premature ignition of the air/fuel mixture) than a similar normally aspirated engine. Higher octane fuels prevent detonation and knock. In extreme cases you may use regular octanes, but do not do so for long. The GTP uses a "high compression" engine because it uses a supercharger.
Hope this helps.

How do you replace the ignition on a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am?
If it's 2.3 2.4 quad-4, for most-Take off alum. cover on top of engine. Lift straight up-the "boat" housing will be attached to the underside containing the coil packs. Pay attention to how everything goes together. The boots are clipped on to the "boat" & push straight down onto your plugs. The biggest trouble with these ignition systems is the boat housing causes the ignition to arc all over the place. it is called that because when inverted looks like it has smokestacks. Replace that before you buy anything else. 9 times out of 10, that's all it needs.
