How do you remove the door panel to repair replace the passenger side power window motor 1996 Pontiac Trans Port?

There are 3 or 4 screws in the door that have to be removed. 2 are in the arm rest, one is in the holder at the bottom of the door. Plus there arfe a couple crews by the door handle. Once you've taken out the screws you've got to lift the door panel slightly and the panel should come right out. Also you must unplug the switches and the light on the door. I just pulled out my drivers side door on my '95 Trans am yesterday. == Answer = Once you get the door panel off changing the motor is another thing, this site has photos and instructions on how to change the motor in the most effecient manner possible,or at least without removing unnecessary items,I used it and changed both door window motors in a couple of hours, with only a cordless drill and a small socket set.By the way the inner panel hiding the motor isn't metal its some type of fiberglass like material so be careful inhaling it or touching the pieces after drilling,,it kinda itches like fiberglass. But this site is invaluable for changing those broken window motors. Heres the link: http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

Pontiacs take 6 quarts with a filter change.

What is the Firing order for a 1979 Pontiac Trans am 403?

Answer

The Old 403 in the 1979 Trans_Am has the same Firing Order as other GM V-8s 1-8-3-4-6-5-7-2. Take the distrbutor cap off and have some one crank the engine so you will know which way to place the wires CLOCKWISE or COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Then turn the engine until the timing mark is showing. then put the #1 plug wire on the corosponding position on the cap and place the rest of the plug wires on. If it fires up ypu are in business if not you need to move the plugs wires 180 degrees (or half around the cap and try again)

Probably just a typo up there...but the firing order is actually 18436572.

How do you replace a heater core in a 76 Trans Am with AC?

lucky for you i have done just that..well it was a 77 but still it should be in the same place....and I'm not sure you r going to like it .

step one: engine bay remove the ac/heater cover that big old fiberglass thing on the firewall passenger side *note take your time removing it them things are so easly busted* OK once you have it off go ahead and remove the lines from the heater core make sure you remove the bolts for the heater core housing ..that's inside the car

step two: in car, remove the dash (again take your time) there are alot of screws and bolts to remove rushing could brake something...(if added info for dash remove is needed I'll be glad to walk ya threw it just pop an E mail over to yahoo send to jack77red ) once dash is out look on passenger fire wall you'll see a big black funny shaped box..if you removed the bolts as said in step one simply but careful pull the box of the fire wall and you should now see the main heater core body , with the water lines removed pull the core out ..replace

then ya just gotta go threw and put every thing back the same way it was before remove ..I know a pain in the butt ain't it, but that is the only way to git that core out and replaced...alot of work for something so simple i know

well i hope this info helps ya out ...and good luck to ya

What color s the tach wire on a 1978 Pontiac trans am?

At the dist there should be one to power the dist. & one for tach signal. Unplug one & see if car starts or if tach still works. Can't really remember for sure as its been a while lol.

My 1972 tach wire is brown and it has a inline fuse from the factory. Your tach wire will be connected to the negative side of your terminal witch is labeled "tach".

I ran my gas out in my 1997 Pontiac trans am. why won't it start?

the reason it may not start is because you may have run the fuel pump dry you could try to test it also i have tried a rubber mallet on the tank just a tap tho it may be stuck or check the fuel pump relay

I replaced turn signal bulb but this does not fix turn signal?

Try checking the housing of the bulb b/c you may have water entering which is causing it to burn out the bulb. Also check to see if your wiring is good, check the resistance on the negative and positive cable w/a Digital Multi Meter. One last thing check the socket b/c if the socket is burned that's what's causing not to fuction also. Hope this helps out let me know what happened

If it is the front turn signal bulbs that are acting up (not flashing just turning off when you turn on your signal) it can also be your forward lights control module. Its a small box about the size of a deck of cards behind your radio. It will have two wire harness going to it. Mine went bad and caused me a turn signal problem.

Had a similar problem on my daughter's car. Water had gotten into the sockets. I took some 100grit sandpaper, scuffed them up inside nice and clean, replaced the bulb(s) and all was well.

Where is low oil pressure switch on a 1967 Pontiac trans am with a 400 engine?

First off there was no Trans am model until 1969. Typo? Anyway the oil pressure sender is located on the oil filter housing on the passanger side of Pontiac V8 engines near the back. The oil filter screws to the bottom of the housing, the sender is above on top of the housing. It should have one wire connected to it.

How do you install a fuel pump on a Pontiac firebird?

first of all if you have never done this before i recommend a shop do the job you must have the car on a lift and remove rear wheels.take the drive shaft out, remove the bolts that hold up the rear end rear bolts only.swing the rear axle asymble forward then remove the bolts from the fuel tank straps.and lower the tank to the ground.replace the pump.then reinstall in the reverse order or the redneck method, roll the carpet back in the rear of the car.cut a 12x12 square hole in the floor pan between the frame rails{will not affect frame support strength} then remove the hoses and pull the pump up thru the hole. reinstall and pop-rivet sheet metal panel to cover the hole.much faster and much much cheaper.....

What is the firing order of a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am 403?

Since the 403 is an Olds engine, the firing oder is the same as any GM 8 cylinder (1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2), HOWEVER the distributor rotates COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Make sure you identify this before proceeding with installation of wires to cap. Make sure distibutor is lined up with #1 cylinder and it is TOP DEAD CENTER, firing and make sure the timing mark on the crank is a "0". I use a long screwdriver to "eyeball" the #1 tower on the cap to the #1 cylinder (should "point" to it when layed down). Try to get this as acurate as possible. If it is not lined up perfectly, removed and reinstall distibutor until it is damn near bang on. Car should fire up with very little adjustment of the distributor. After, take car out for a good run and advance distributor just until it starts to "ping", then back off a hair!!! You're now on your way to peek engine tuning.

Why would you not be getting power to the fuel pump in a Pontiac Trans Am?

Basics first, fuses, relays, and battery connections, also, is everything else working, ignition switch, fuseable links ok, etc...for more check out the library for a shop manual..:) Your vats system (vehicle anti-theft system) could be activated. When the resistor on the key is not read, it will disable the fuel pump. You just might need a new key.
