Replace fuel injecters 1987 trans am?

This is assuming you have a TPI engine, and an above average tool set, and good mechanical ability. First you need to disconnect the intake duct from the throttle body, then take the four 10mm bolts out of the throttle body. Next take the bolts out of each side of the intake plenum, unplug the MAT sensor from underneith the plenum, and the vacuum lines. Then remove the plenum, then take the 4 10mm bolts out of the fuel rail. You now have to unlock the factory clips at the top of the injectors, do this by rotating them clockwise until the hook is positioned to the left of the injector. Bleed off the fuel pressure by using the shrader valve on the fuel rail. Carefully using a prybar, lift the fuel rail one corner at a time, using WD-40 to lube the injector o-rings at the intake. Once the rail is lifted to obtain clearance to remove injectors, pry injectors out of the fuel rail, one at a time, don't try to take them all out before replacing. One at a time lube both o-rings on the new injector, and install into rail, repeat this until all are done. Then reinstall the rail and injector onto the intake manifold. This is not an easy task, requires a little patience and finess. Good Luck

How do you change spark plugs on a Pontiac Trans Sport?

I haven't got to the back row of sparks plugs yet, however make sue you have either a swivel extention(I used a 3/8 Drive Universal Joint) or something shorter than 6 inches for your rachet. I tried removing the spark plug and with the extention on I kept hitting the AC tubing going across the front... I am going to start on the back row and was told by a friend to undo that motor mount in front and then while in park move the car forward a little and place a brick or wheel chock behind the tire. By doing this the motor will tilt downwards and towards the front giving you just a little more room to get to the back three wires and plugs.. . hope this helps and hoepfully I can get this done with out having to call the mobile mechanic!

Partial AnswerOf couse, the front plugs are no problem. The problem seems to be in the back 3. I have found online and from some mechanics, that you need to undo the motor mounts and rotate the engine. I have never tried that, and have replaced the back 3 going on two times now. First and foremost, you REALLY need to let the engine completely cool down. Your hand and arm are going to be touching extremly hot surfaces. I have a medium size hand, and i say that, because i don't know if that helps me, or if anyone's hand will fit. You can reach the back three with the van jacked up, and patience. It will take some time to manuver the plugs in and out. However, it is possible. Trust me, i have done it. GOOD LUCK!

Going by what I have read, the book says to remove the fender. I did it myself laying on the engine and going by feel. It was a real bear but I did not have to undo the motor mounts, fender, anything, but I was sore for a couple days.

1978 Pontiac trans am an you wont to do a engine swap what motor will fit in it?

As far as going in the engine compartment and bolting to the transmission, and Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick engine will work. You may have a duel pattern transmission which would allow you to use Chevy also. You would have to look to know. Where the trans. bolts to the engine there will be two holes side by side. Al GM except Chevy are the same as far as bolt pattern. Any motor will work, it's just a matter of running the plumbing, electrical and exhaust.
