Head gasket gone and possibly a coreplug
WHAT ABOUT THIS TOO I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SPACE TO ADD THIS........
I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE ENGINE WAS SMOKING OUT THE UNDERSIZE OF MY CAR. I COULD HEAR THE PRESSURE OUTSIDE MY CAR STANDING BESIDE THE ENGINE/ I READ ANSWERS TO OTHER QUESTIONS AND I HAVE ABOUT THE SAME EFFECTS OF A CRACKED HEAD. CAUSE WHEN ITS COLD IT RUNS GOOD ONCE IT WARMS UP THATS WHEN EVERYTHING HAPPENS Few heads ever crack, cracking tends to be engine manufacturer/model specific. Could still be the head gasket, water jacket pressurises as it heats. With the engine cold check and top up the water tank. Leave lid off, start the car and look for bubbles in the water tank. There should be a few as the system bleeds itself then nothing except the odd one. (Don't leave the lid off too long, as the engine heats the water will expand and spill out. If the bubbles don't subside then the head has to come off. Only then will a specialist be able to determine if the head is cracked or just a skim and gasket needed. After a short time put the lid on and let the engine come up to temperature. Observe where the water/steam is escaping from, it might be a pipe, core plug or even the water pump
How do you change out the oil pan gasket on a 2000 Pontiac trans am?
I've never changed one on this year Trans Am before but im pretty sure its not that different from any other V-8 car...First, drain all the oil from the pan. Second, unbolt the pan from the motor and clean very thoroughly. Third, scrape off all the old gasket and sealant on both the pan and motor. Next, put new sealant on the pan (dont get messy)and place the new gasket on the sealant (make sure to line up the holes). Finally, bolt the pan back onto the motor and torque the necessary torque specs and pour oil back into the motor.

How do you replace headlight motor on 1992 fire bird?
This one is difficult....so heres a basic run down... Start with a 10MM wrench (not a socket). And a long flathead screwdriver. Roll your headlight all the way up with the knob located next to it. Use the screwdriver to push the support bar commign from the headlight off of the motor extension (located dead center of circular part of motor. you may need the flashlight here). after that the headlight will drop down own it own, nothing is holding it up. On the exact other side fo the motor you have 3 bolts retaining the motor to the car. get the middle and lower one from underneath, it's a tight fir, but easier than going in from the top. Get the top bolt from the top. Then you can tilt and angle the motor to pull it through the hole in the car. Then lift at an angle vertically out of the housing area. Now you grab the new one and reverse this procedure. make sure to disconnect the wires going to the motor FIRST.

How many 1979 pontiac400 4 speed trans am were made?
I honestly don't remember exactly how many. I know it wasn't many. The '79 Pontiac 400 was left over from the previous year. All of them were put in to the T/A and if I remember correctly all of them were 4 speeds. They aren't super rare, but you don't just find them everywhere either. You might try some of the T/A forums.

How do you replace the spark plugs on a 2000 Pontiac trans am?
The left side of the motor should be pretty straight forward, there is plently of room to get the socket and wrench in without any problems. The right side of the motor will be a little bit more of a challenge, however, not impossible or even that difficult. The front two plugs on the right side are covered with soft lines that run from the EGR valve and to and from the A/C drier but these can be easily moved out of the way just by pushing them, they won't need to be moved far, just far enough so you have room to get a wrench in there. The rear two plugs on the passanger side however are a little more difficult. In fact you can barely even see the rear plug from the top. The best way to replace these two plugs is from under the car. You should have enough room to get to these two plugs from underneith. Plugs and wires look like a hard task on this car but it is actually pretty easy.
I have recently done this on my 2000 WS6. The above answer is correct concerning the drivers side. Pretty easy to get at. The passenger side however...not so much. Unless you are 110 lbs with pencil thin arms, trying to get at number 8 plug from underneath around the cat is going to be tough. I have found the best way is to remove the air line off of the exhaust manifold. 2 -10mm bolts. Then remove the 5 bolts from the coil pack ( also 10mm), disconnect the wire assembly and remove the whole coil pack. Now by laying across the top of the engine you can get at 2,4,6,8 plugs pretty easy. Just reverse the process to reinstall. Once you get the pack off...about a 20 min job.
