Pontiac Trans Am

Well the speedometer usually reads about 80 to 85 on some models but on others it reads about 100 but I'm sure you can get one up to about 120 or 130. There more about power than speed.

i have a 69,75,and80. the 75 is on the turn-signal lever. if your lever wont move back and forth, maybe someone replaced your steering column from a previous year or from another car. best of luck. keep em running for the young to hopefully appreciate!!

The 97 Trans Am does 285 hp, Ram Air (WS6) models had 305 hp

All Trans Ams through 81 come with a posi rear. It was part of the T/A package. It may be high gears, but it'll be a posi.

There are many places one can list a Trans AM WS6 for sale. Some places one can sell a Trans AM WS6 include eBay, Craig's List, Camaro Zone, and Auto Trader.

Probably sticky lifters, go to the parts store and get a product that frees sticky lifters and change the oil and filter and add the product to the oil and see if it frees them up.

It is advertised that the ls1 trans am gets 305 horsepower but it really gets 345 horsepower, GM didnt want the trans am competing with the corvette

turbo trans am came out in 81

a tune up requires wires ,spark plugs, rotor, distributor, air filter, PVC valve, fuel filter, and i also recomend you change the oil aswell.

first question. does the key have the chip in it? if it does its the sensor in the ignition wont read the chip and that wont let the engine turn over. i had the same problem and thought it was the starter. a new ignition switch could be a way to fix that but you can over ride it if you know how to deal with electrical wiring. any questions send me an e-mail wlmhardin11@yahoo.com

In the transmission tail section same place the speedo gear is.

It's advertised as 325hp, but closer to 345hp. GM under-rated the LS1 in f-bodies to prevent Corvette sales from declining..

Put the car on blocks, I use ramps because the car is a pain to jack up. Place a floor jack under the transmission oil pan, use a pice of wood or something that will go all the way across the pan. Don't jack directly on the pan with the jack, you can dent or bow in the pan and the would be bad. There are 2 bolts that hold the mount to the transmission and one the bolts the transmission to the cross member. unbolt all three, then using the jack you can jack the transmission up to gain enough clearance to remove the old one and install the new, the part only costs $13.00, I have broken a few. You may also have to remove the bolt from the exhaust bracket, I did not have to on mine.

Buy a motor manual with one in it.

6-speed or 4-speed auto

By now I'm sure you've found the answer. But a Pontiac engine does not have adjustable valves. You simply torque them down to 20 foot pounds.

The oil sending unit is located behind the driver side head right above the clutch cover or bell housing. It also serves as a oil pressure sensor.
