My 2000 Grand Am SE 2.4 made an on again off again electrical buzzing like noise that sounded like someone trying to jump start Frankenstien in an old movie. It seemed to be coming from the middle of the dash. You could feel it buzzing when you touched the hazard button plus my turn signals and hazard lights did not work. turned out there was a special policy thing like a recall where the hazard flasher had to be replaced. Pontiac did it for free and all my signals work now but I still have a noise from the flasher. You can hear it clicking after I turn off the turn signal. It eventually stops after a few minutes until I use the turn signal again. I was told my multi function turn signal switch is bad like the other guy above said. My Pontiac dealer wanted over $300 to fix...OUCH!

What happened to Firebirds is that they were outsold by Ford Mustangs and didn't give Pontiac a big enough market share in the segment. In other words, the bean-counters killed it. It will come back when someone comes up with a concept that they can convince Pontiac management will make money. Ah in 1983 sorry but that model originaly had a mechanical pump on the right front lower corner of the engine block.Espesally if it has a carburetor!

Some 1983 models came with crossfire fuel injection and had in-tank fuel pumps. The fuel pump relay is located on the driver's side, between the fender and brake booster. It should be next to the fan relay, which looks similar to it, but the fuel pump relay should be the one closest to the brake booster if I'm not mistaken.

The spare tire should be inside the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

Pop your hatch, remove the three plastic buttons holding on the passenger rear plastic hatch cover, where the speakers are if so equipped. The jack and spare tire should be under this cover.

I own 1 2002 and 1 2001 trans am ws6, both have a 3.42 rear end ratio, that was the standard gear for the ws6 from the factory. The collector edition ws6 had a option for a slightly lower gear.

The cooling fan comes on when the engine reaches a certain temperature and is controlled by a sensor switch that kicks the fan on when the temperature reaches the preset temp.

If you have the door shut and the interior lamp will not go out, it is most likely because you have a defective door jam switch. The switch will either be located in the door jam and will look like a small plunger, or will be integrated into the hinge itself and will not be visible without removing the door panel. If the switch is integrated in the hinge itself, it ususally requires replacement of the entire part ( available at your dealer ) and the switch is not serviced seperately. If it is separate ( plunger type ) it should be available at most aftermarket part stores for less than $15. On some rare occasions both types may be " blown out " with compressed air to clean them and will sometimes work again without replacing them. This is because they usually fail because of dust and grime fouling the contacts in the switch. Unfortunately this will only work about one out of ten times. Maybe this will help. Best of luck.

the paint code should be on the inside of the drivers door on a little white sticker. if not there try on the passenger door.

If the paint code isn't on either door or in the console; try looking inside the trunk compartment, it should be a white sticker on the inside of the panel

Pop the hood there is a pin (metal rod L shaped around 1 in on the short side and 6 inches on the long side) that is above the headlight assembly remove the pin and the assembly will essentially fall out, change bulb, replace the assembly and put the pin back in.

If you mean the difference between the Pontiac 400 and 455....the differences are the bore size, the crank stroke length, and the main bearing journals. All are bigger on the 455. However, there is also a small block Chevy 400....which has nothing the same as the other two. The Pontiac 400 has a bore of 4.12, stroke 3.75 and 3" main journals. The 455 has a bore of 4.151, stroke of 4.21, and 3.25" main journals.

Sometimes can be as simple as a short circuit in the rear break lights or a faulty connection in the break lights.

You can start checking the break light system. Then the sensors and finally the compter.
