Are potatoes fertilized with miracle-gro during the growing season okay to eat?
Yes, they are. I live in an area with good drainage, sandy soil, but almost NO organic material. I can't afford a truckload of compost, nor can my wife and I produce enough of our own compost from our kitchen and lawn clippings. So, I simply added some decomposed horse manure (free from almost any nearby rancher) and planted my seed potatoes. I fortified the potatoes every 2-3 weeks with Miracle-Gro spray fertilizer (the kind you screw onto the end of your hose) and they grew very well. When I harvested them, I had some misgivings about the amount of minerals they may have absorbed. Not wanting to waste these delightful tubers, I just ate them. I suffered no ill effects and ultimately did some of my own research. What the Miracle-Gro fertilizer contains is just a liquid form of what I would have been adding anyway. I am NOT a Miracle-Gro employee, by the way. I simply farm on a shoestring budget. This stuff works great on the rest of my garden too. No ill effects and its been that way for the past 5 years. I wish I had done my research from the start. The stuff is fine.
How important was the potato in the 18th century?
The potato was very important during the eighteenth century. During a time where diets lacked vitamins A and C, the potato made up for those nutrients. Even though potatoes were first considered a famine food because people did not like them, once acknowledged as an important dietary supplement, they became the primary food in much of Europe.

Putting a whole potato in boiling oil will give you something inedible, and it may explode and splash boiling oil all over the place. Please take Home Ec. You need it for your own personal safety.
If that's all that they can find to eat they probably would.
I've been told not to, as it is still poisonous and will give your rabbit diarrhea.
No. Potatoes aren't part of a bunny's natural diet, and they're unhealthy. Green parts of the potato plant (including eyes in the peelings) are even poisonous. Don't give your rabbit potato at all. Rabbits eat dark, fresh leafy greens, pellets, and most of all hay. See the related questions below for more info and helpful links.

How do you reheat mashed potatoes?
You would either have to steam them or put them in the oven.
Or put the mash into a bow and make a hollow in the centre. Pour about a teaspoon (per serving bowl) of water into the centre, cover with cling wrap and microwave on high until hot.
Stir well and microwave a little longer if the potato isn't heated right through.

How do the changes in the conditions of the potato strips relate to the wilting of plants?
When a plant cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, the water inside the cells are drawn out by osmosis. The vacuoles decrease in size. The cytoplasm also shrinks away from the cellulose cell wall and plasmolysis occurs. This causes a lack of structure for the plant and causes it to wilt, or become flaccid.
