How has France changed over time?
for starters, the actual land mass of the territory France occupies has changed very little. the people have changed. they are "more modern" (e.g., most of them can drive cars, have cell phones, get vaccinations for many diseases and aren't terribly afraid of nuclear power). so, France itself has changed. it is no longer a monarchy, but you probably knew that. they go through the motions (as does the u.s.) of "electing" their government -- but basically the "powers behind the throne" still rule. until about 100 or so years ago, there was no Tour de France. also, the national football (soccer) team hadn't won any world cups until the last 100 or so years. there are more people in France with each passing year, also more cars and cell phones. there are probably more poodles and bottles of wine. but, basically, at the atomic and cellular and molecular level, France has changed very little. i hope this helps, and you can now go outside and do some gardening, or whatever.

yes. The right to vote was granted in the 1920's, and women were very active in the 40's after World War 2. The plain fact that women were factory workers, general laborers during the war made the "going back" to housewives and mothers not an attractive option. This was the beginning of the women's liberation movement, although it wasn't that baldly put.

Some of the 1980's magazines are listed at prices from $10-$20 on Ebay at the moment. Whether or not they sell is another case. NOT ENOUGH OF THEM! What would an ancient Roman newspaper editorial look like?
Well there were no Roman newspapers (no printing presses for another 1,500 years).
They had to use other means of getting the message out, like reading out and posting notices or decrees in the squares of cities, and erecting statues, monuments, triumphal arches etc with inscriptions on them. And then there was grafitti on walls.
A basic means of spreading messages was coinage, which everyone saw as a matter of routine eg, when Brutus fled to the east after murdering his patron Caesar, he had coinage struck with his image promoting himself as getting rid of a would-be king; later, an emperor trying to promote family life struck a coin with an effigy of the empress and her children looking cute; and so on.
Inscriptions (whether Roman, Persian, Greek etc) were partly propaganda, partly commemorative, partly communicative. They would be nearest to today's editorial.
An example is Augustus columns in which he sets out his achievements, beginning:
'Below is a copy of the acts of the Deified Augustus by which he placed the whole world under the sovereignty of the Roman people, and of the amounts which he expended upon the state and the Roman people, as engraved upon two bronze columns which have been set up in Rome'
