A radio refers to an electronic device that works by receiving radio wave (an electromagnetic wave) that has the capacity to broadcast news, speech, music and other audio through the air.

Do the car have to be running to reset radio code on a s40 Volvo?

I had to do this on my 96 850, and no, I did not have to have it running, just on accessories on ignition.

Do radio waves travel at the speed of sound at the speed of light or at some speed in between?

'Radio' waves are physically and electrically identical to light waves except for their

frequency (wavelength), and they travel at the same speed as light does.

Do different electromagnetic waves have different frequencies?

Yes. The shorter the wavelength of an electromagnetic wave, the higher its frequency is. Don't confuse frequency with velocity! All electromagnetic radiation travels at the same rate, C (3*10^8) m/s.

In which decade did the first American radio stations start?

Various hobbyists and electrical nerds were transmitting music and talk, occasionally, without

firm schedules, for the entertainment of their neighbors, during the 19-teens.

The first commercially licensed radio station in the USA is widely considered to have been

KDKA in Pittsburgh, which began scheduled operation in November of 1920.

Why is percentage modulation less than 100 percent in amplitude modulation?

The operator and transmitter engineer control the modulation level. It can be adjusted

so that audio peaks produce 100% modulation, or less than 100%, or more than 100%.

More than 100% produces audio distortion in the receiver, and it also 'splatters' across

a wider part of the AM dial then it should. It sounds terrible on the radio, and it potentially

interferes with other stations.

How long will it take for a radio wave to travel 100km if the speed of radio waves is 3x108metres per second?

If the speed of radio waves, also known as the speed of light, is 3x108 metres per second, then it is also 3.333 nanoseconds per meter. (Simply invert) As such, the wave would take 333.3 microseconds to traverse 100 kilometres.

Moving along the electromagnetic spectrum from radio waves to gamma rays frequency increases so wavelength?

The wavelength decreases.

The speed of light is the speed of all electromagnetic radiation (such as radio waves, light waves, gamma rays, etc.) in vacuum.

The speed of light (c) is a physical constant with the exact value of 299,792,458 m/s.

speed of light = frequency x wavelength

so when frequency increases, wavelength decreases .

3 How is digital radio different than the types of radio that came before It?

The way the signal is transmitted and processed. FM radios are transmitted via signal generators and amplifiers on the ground while digital radio like Sirius or AM are transmitted via satellites. The digital signals are sent in packets vs. lower frequency radio waves.

How did Sidney Poitier die?

As of December 2011, Sidney Poitier is still living.

What does a p0404 CODE for A 2007 Honda?

Trouble code P0404 means:Exhaust gas recirculation circuit range/performance

Explain the deference between commercial radio and community radio?

Community radio serves content that is popular and relevant to a specific local audience, but is overlooked by mass-media broadcasters. Commercial broadcasting is owned by private corporate media and serves a broad audience.

Which type of wave has a larger wavelength FM radio or AM radio?

There's no difference between a frequency-modulated wave and an amplitude-modulated

wave. Either kind can be generated and transmitted with any wavelength you want.

In the USA, however, AM broadcast stations are licensed to operate only in the band 550-1700 KHz,

and FM broadcast stations are licensed to operate only in the band 88-108 MHz. So for ordinary

programs that you listen to on an ordinary radio, the AM stations all have longer wavelengths

than the FM stations have.

What is the 2001 Pontiac Firebird anti theft unlock code?

if u find out let me know. i was cutting away collision damage and by accident cut some wires. this activated the anti theft device. NOW SITTING HERE WITH A 5,000 PIECE OF JUNK THAT 2 MINUTES AGO WOULD START AND NOW IS LOCKED! DAM I HATE THIS CAR!

Will FM radio wplj be a rock station in late 2007 or 2008 and when will it happen i know there be rummors of a format change for wplj FM and i would like to know ir wplj FM will go rock for late 2007?

WPLJ 95.5fm (New York) is not planning on changing into a rock station. They are leaning more towards a mainstream top40/CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) approach, while still shying away from rap/hiphop. Over the last several months, WPLJ's ratings have been slipping. There has also been alot of complaints from listeners that the playlist is to tight. They have only 15 currents on the playlist. WPLJ is classified as a Hot AC format. They play more uptempo & current music (than standard Adult Contemporary radio stations would), as well as 80's & 90's music.

In the last several months, Wplj has added artists like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Jonas Brothers, in addition to artist like Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox20, and Nickleback that they have always played. They are sounding more like their main competitor Z100. Z100 plays all of the above mentioned artists, along with a heavy dose of rap/hiphop artists. WPLJ still wants to expand their playlist to attract more listeners, while avoiding scaring off long-time listeners by not playing rap. They have also started to phase out 80's music, and added more 90's cuts.

This change has been noticed among listeners, and reported in Billboard magazine. This changed has generally received positive feedback from the listeners and those in the record industry. Only time will tell if this will have a good outcome in the ratings.

How much does WEEI co host dale Arnold make?

From what I have researched, roughly $250000-350000 sorry It cannot be narrowed down a bit more, however when you get into figures like that what's the difference?

Now that the Dale and Holley show is ended, he should make less. His new duties include an expanded NFL Sunday and Baseball Sunday (about 45 Sundays a year, plus 25 - 30 Red Sox games as play-by-play announcer.

(updated 2/26/2010).

Can people disrupt radio waves by standing in front of them?

Yes. Radio waves are electromagnetic and are affected by anything that conducts electricity. The human body is mostly made of water, which conducts electricity and therefore affects radio waves. To demonstrate the effect, see what happens when you move around a radio tuned to a station with relatively poor reception.

What radio station is all time low on?

Depends where you are, if your in Amearica they are on quiet a few stations but if your in the UK its usually only radio 1 and a few local stations

If you are mixing local oscillator freq with adc frequency in FM radio then what is the freq of mixer chosen?

The most common IF in consumer FM radios is 10.7 MHz.

So, for the FM broadcast band of 88 - 108 MHz, the local oscillator frequency would be

between 98.7 MHz and 118.7 MHz.

It could just as well have been chosen to work on the low side of the RF. But that would have

placed the LO between 77.3 MHz and 97.3 MHz. Any LO leakage from the radio could have

played havoc with TVs in the house tuned to the old analog Channel 5 (76 - 82 MHz) or

Channel 6 (82 - 88 MHz).
