The obvious place to start is the fuel filter. Is it clogged? I presume this car has a 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine. A Saab 900 16-valve shop manual will provide a list of possible causes and their solutions.

Get inside the car close driver door

switch ignition key on but don't start the engine

push night panel once till LCD shows doors only

wait till LCD turns off

switch ignition off then on and start the engine

switch ignition off and remove the key

get out the car and lock it by remote control and test it by shaking the car don't try to shake it from doors or trunk or hod they have sensors and they'll trigger the alarm

Its a pressure vessel like a submarine but without any engines used to explore the depths of the oceans. Its life support is supplied by a surface vessel that pumps air to the bathysphere and supplies it with electricity and communications.

If it's only at start up, the turbocharger itself unlikely the problem. Most start up smoke problems are from oil or fuel leaking into the cylinders after turning off the vehicle off or before crank.

What year? Which engine? Generally, the oil pump is located on the front of the engine, behind the crankshaft pulley. 1) Lock the flywheel in place. 2) Remove the accessory belts and crankshaft pulley. 3) Remove the oil pump. A workshop manual will aid greatly in providing proper endfloat specs and special re-assembly instructions for the particular engine.

Two methods are available: remove the fuel tank or cut a hole in the floor under the rear seat. Either method gives you access. To get to the fuel pump you need a tool to loosen the metal ring--SAAB has a special tool or you can use water pump type pliers. The fuel line clips have to be removed. Pay attention to the alignment marks on the pump and tank before removal or mark with a Sharpie. The whole pump unit costs about $500 or a pump only can be installed for much less -- $75 or so.

I have been quoted $725 to replace the alternator on my 2000 9-5 by a local independent Saab mechanic. This seems rather exorbitant to me - the part appears to cost $200 - $300. Unfortunately I don't have much choice - I drove it there on an overnight battery charge...

for 200-300, its a rebuilt...a new alternator is around 4 to 5 hundred, plus at least 2 hours to put it in so that price is about right

Saab 0-3 key fobs have to be programmed at the Saab dealership. This safety measure is in place to keep others from stealing your vehicle. The vehicle dealership will require proof of ownership before they will program the fob for you.

It should be with the Owners Manual paperwork. If not, contact a Saab dealership with the car's VIN.

When I lost use of my 1995 Saab 900SE convertible radio's function, the VIN was not enough...the dealer also needed (or insisted on anyway) the radio's serial number.

So I had to pull the radio to write down it's SN before they would look it up, and charged me $25 to do it. I'm not sorry THAT dealer (or at least that service advisor) went out of business.

because a Saab has cam pistons , so your Saab is a 2.5 liter v6.it runs at a low rpm because you probably need to change the MOTOR OIL. people have been asking me that!!!

All 99 saab 95's are Turbo. Only question is it a low pressure Turbo or not

Obviously it is leaking coolant. The real question is from where. Could have a dry-rotted coolant hose, a leaky radiator, or a blown head gasket. The first being the easiest and cheapest to fix and the latter the more expensive. If there is coolant around the bottom of your engine or in the driveway then its a leaky hose or radiator. If you have white smoke coming out of the exhaust or the oil looks milky on the dipstick, its got a blown head gasket and its burning the coolant off. Either way I would stay away until you know more about the problem.

You don't specify which engine, but since the 4-cylinder engines have a timing chain, we must assume it is on the V6. If you are replacing a worn belt, the cost is not too bad. Depends on the hourly rate at your local Saab shop. If, however, the belt has broken, you are likely looking at an engine overhaul as the valves will have hit the tops of the pistons. The result is bent valves and possible cracked pistons.
