How do you install aftermarket stereo in a 2007 Subaru Forester?

1) remove old stereo

If you are looking for detail, there are no generic instructions. Anything more than the instructions above requires information as to what is in the car now and what you intend to put in. When you have that information, go to www.crutchfield.com. I use them for nearly every change of equipment that I do and they will help with whatever you need. Not always the cheapest, but they are the best.

Why 1998 Subaru Forester turn signal lights not workin although you have replaced all bulbs?

A likely cause is that the flasher has failed. On my 1999 Subaru Forester this is an inexpensive (~$10.00 from my local discount auto parts store) and small part.

What I found was that obtaining the replacement part was easy and actually replacing it was challenging. The challenge is that the flasher is located near/on the firewall fairly high above the driver's footwell. For me this meant being in the driver's seat upside down with my head near the pedals, my feet on the back of the seat, and my arm snaking up through the wiring to access the flasher.

Best of luck.

What does the Hold warning light mean in a 2004 Subaru Forester?

It's a switch near the gearstick, which when pressed, turns on an amber warning light on the dashboard. The function of it is to hold you in a particular gear - for going downhill and such. To get rid of it you just need to flip the switch.

Why won't 99 Subaru Forester start after getting gas?

I'm guessing you ran the car out of gas; and that is its only problem.

In most of these cases it takes 'time' to get fuel to the motor from the tank. To "Prime" the fuel injection system try the following: # Turn the key to the RUN position, but do not attempt to start the car. # Leave the key in the RUN position for at least 30 seconds (listen for the fuel pump to run, then shut off) # Turn the key to the OFF position, for 20 seconds # Repeat 1 - 3, 5 times # Try starting the car, if it does not start try repeating one more time. It could also be that the fuel filter, tank screen, is clogged - debris in the tank can accumulate in the screen when the tank runs empty. You would have to have the tank removed and cleaned.

Yes it will, as long as you have the factory bracket still installed from the factory deck. If you have the bracket, it's basically a drop in installation.

All wheel drive fuse location on forester?

Under the hood, right side near the hood hinge. Insert a fuse in the holder, after flipping the top open, to disableall-wheel drive. (there are spare fuses in the fuse box near the battery) Note that Subaru does not recommend that you do this except for use as a diagnostic tool because it does change the way that the car handles. --Ken

Why is engine revving very high in standard shift even with clutch in?

One possibility is that the throttle plate has carbon around it preventing it from closing all the way. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body. Using a cloth and some spray carburetor cleaner, clean the bore of the air intake around the throttle plate.

How do you replace headlamp on 1998 forester?

Haven't had to replace headlamp bulbs on my '00 yet, but here's what the manual says: Disconnect the connector from inside of the engine compartment Remove rubber cap Remove the light bulb retaining spring to remove the bulb. Replace the bulb with a new one and reassemble in reverse order. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Make sure that the new bulb is clean. No fingerprints on the glass!! And there is a weep hole in the rubber boot. That needs to be down to allow any moisture to drip out. Good luck!--Kenfi

I just did this on a 2000 forester. 1) Open the hood and follow the wired to the rubber cap on the back to the headlight. There is a smaller rubber cap that you can work off of the plug and down the wire. I did this by turning the cap inside out. This was the most difficult part. 2) The plug has two little tabs that you can see once the smaller rubber cap is off (the cap will still be on the wire, but off of the plug). Push the tabs and remove the plug. 3) Remove the larger rubber boot that comes off pretty easily. 4) Now you can see the retaining spring. Push them together and they will disengage from the housing. Remove the bulb. 5) Put in a new bulb, clip in the retaining springs, and replace the large rubber boot (the top is labeled). 6) Before plugging the wires in replace the smaller rubber cap. This was kind of tricky but went well after I turned it inside out before trying to get it back on the plug.

7) Plug the wires into the new lamp.

Rattle when going forward 98 Forester 5 spd seems coming from your feet could it be driveshaft to the rear wheels no rattle in reverse?

My mom has a 2000 Forester that has a rattling sound at idle. Question regarding yours: Does your rattle sound metallic, almost as if sheet metal was banging against something? If so, it could be a loose exhaust hanger or heat shield. The reason this is my guess is based on the location of "coming from your feet". A lot of newer vehicles have various forms of heat shielding on the undercarriage, especially near exhaust systems. As for the situation on my mom's car, it's been that way for about 45,000 and is more of an "ignorable nuisance" if anything. I guess a better way to describe the noise would be to ask if it sounds "tinny".

Who are the actresses in the subaru commercials?

Subaru commercials have featured various actresses over the years, but one of the most notable is actress and comedian, Maya Rudolph, who has appeared in several ads for the brand. Other actresses may also appear in specific campaigns, but the primary focus often varies by commercial theme and target audience. If you're looking for a specific commercial or actress, more details would help narrow it down.

How do you change the automatic transmission fluid in your 1994 Subaru legacy?

You listed this question under Subaru Forester, but the answer is likely the same. Subaru is good enough to put a drain plug on the transmission so it is the same procedure as changing engine oil, except you use the transmission dipstick hole to refill. This does not change the fluid in the torque converter though, which probably holds almost half of the transmission fluid. If this is the first time you have changed fluid in this 16 year old car you may want to take it to a professional where they can flush the transmission. I always recommend yearly changes to prevent having to flush the converter.

If you have the knowledge to assess the condition of the fluid that you drain, you may just want to change the fluid, drive it for a week or two, change again, drive, and change again until no more nasty stuff comes out. My assumption is that most people don't think of their transmission fluid until something goes wrong, especially on an older car.

Fuse box for Subaru Forester 2001?

Two fuse boxes. One is in the passenger compartment near the driver's left knee. A small pull out cup (that I use for change) has to be removed by pulling vertically until the bottom unhooks then removed from the opening. Fuses behind that.

Second fuse block is in the engine compartment behind the battery. It is clearly marked

What does a tuneup on a Subaru Forester entail?

Depends on what you want to tune up?

Assuming a basic engine tune would be simply to replace oil / air filters using correct grade of engine oil.

Surprising but using the wrong grade of oil and a clogged air filter can result in increased fuel consumption.

Changing the set of platinum NGK spark plugs after 25,000 miles will make the engine more responsive and run smoother.

Cost of the above DIY will be about £25 plugs, £25 oil, £15 air filter, £10 oil filter, £20 Fuel filter, £15 petrol injector cleaner (Total £110).

Dealer cost anyhwere from £250 and upwards.

Next level would be ECU re-mapping to get more power but this might reduce fuel economy as will increasing the turbo boost pressure.

The Forester uses a lower boost pressure than the Subaru imprezza so modifying the Turbo or direct replacement might be worthwhile I.e. increased basic BHP from 170 hp to 250 hp+.

However if you are considering this then brake and suspension replacement will be required to keep the car on the road.

You could easily spend upwards of £3,500 including full brake, suspension and turbo upgrades and get a stunning performance 250 bhp Subaru Forester.

It really depends on how much you want to spend and what you intend doing with the car I.e. mild improvement or full blown rally performance.

If you want to go rallying suggest buying an Imprezza Turbo.
