I used heater core sealant about three mouths ago. It only worked for about 1 1/2 mouths and then started leaking again. It's only a temp fix at best. David

As far as moisture build up goes you can remove the entire assembly and aim a hair dryer inside the holes where the lamps go, then put it all back together. However if you're aiming to get rid of the coloration on the lens that is near impossible because the plastic is faded/warped

Instructions as follow: 1. remove right headlight. 2. remove battery and battery tray. 3. remove tube between air filter and throttle body. 4. reach behind the gear linkages and feel the bolts holding the starter motor. 5. there are what seems like 3 bolts on a L shape, the center one holds the plate for the gear linkages, do not undo, it's a pain in the neck to put back. 6. undo the two bolts holding the starter motor. 7. from under the car undo the one nut holding the power feed from the battery and the nut holding the cable from the key. 8. lift the back of the starter motor up clearing the oil pressure sender and so the front of the starter motor points down. 9. support the front of the starter motor and ease it down and out.

i have a 97 Avalon and just took the door pannel off so i could get a better look at the speakers. there are 3 screws on the bottom of the door, 2 under caps near the hinges, and another under a cap near the handle. once you remove these, you must take out the pannel that holds the window switches, locks, ect. you will see a screw near the rear of the opening, that is the last one. you may then slide the whole interior pannel up and thus remove it. you will also have to unplug a few wires

On the '95, there are two screws at the very bottom, two under the caps on the arm rest, and then on the sides you have two little plastic peices. Push in the center of them, and pull up on the panel. The right side will prob stick down, so pull up the left side first. I just walked back in from taking off my '95 panel.

There is a recall out for the security system wire harness. Take it to a dealer who can check the harness and replace it - some 1600+ Toyota had the faulty harness.

The best type of oil to use in a 2000 Toyota Avalon is 5w20. This provides a good balance of viscosity with the ability to work in most temperatures.

Remove the instrument panel cover. The instrument panel cover is secured with four retaining screws. Take hold of the lamp, push in and turn at the same time. Reverse the process to install the new lamp.

1. Make sure the odometer is set to total miles and not to trip.

2. With the ignition off (this car has a start button and not a key switch) hold the trip reset button down.

3. Tap the start button one time quickly (don't start the car) after the information center lights tap the start button one more time quickly, again don't start the car.

4. The dash lights come on and a series of dashes appear where the mileage was. When these dashes count down and disappear the maintenance reminder is reset.

You will need to remove the door panel. There are two 10mm nuts you will need to remove, then disconnect the clip that holds the wire to the handle and push the clips holding the handle to the door outward being careful that to break the clips. Replace in the reverse.

I actually just replaced my headlights yesterday. First you find the casing, which is in the same location on both sides. On my car, I first pressed down on the connector latch that supplies power to the headlight. Then, grab the actual bulb piece that is left sticking out, and turn it counterclockwise about a 1/4 rotation and you should be able to pull the bulb right out. I found it strange on my car that the rightside bulb had to be turned clockwise to release it and the driver's side had to be turn counterclockwise. Pretty strange if you ask me, but that's how I did it. .

I also would get the O2 sensor socket. It will make it much easier to get them off. It's worth the $10 or so. I change both of mine out in under an hour.

holds first and second gear longer for more acceleration with button on, if you floor it then you've already defeated it's purpose.

This happened to me before. You have to find a way to get in the car. You can go under the car & up the hood. After that, you can disconnect the battery to disable the alarm. If you still can't get in then you have to try to jimmy the door. Once you are inside, you have to etheir take the backseats out, which are screwed in or pull them down. You can get to the trunk through there.

There are two oxygen sensors, the one closer to the engine (before the catalytic converter) is typically the one that goes bad first. This one is also easier to replace. You need a small flathead screwdriver, follow the wires from the sensor to where it plugs into a socket - its a tight space, you will need a flashlight. There is a little plastic tab on the connector piece that you must pry UP with the small screw driver, then you can pull the plug out of the socket. After that, you can use an open end wrench or adjustable wrench to unbolt the old O2 sensor from the exhaust. This can require a lot of force, so a breaker bar may be necessary, I also recommend using penetrating oil. It is highly recommended that you put high temp anti-seize compound on the threads of the new O2 sensor before installing it. Bolt it in and plug it into the socket and you are done. The job is slightly more complicated if you are reusing the old wiring harness - you will need to cut the wires from the old O2 sensor and solder the connector/plug piece onto the leads of the new O2 sensor, make sure you match the length of the original (you don't want a lot of extra slack).

The post catalytic converter O2 sensor is considerably more work, but not that much more difficult. Unfortunately the wires run under the passenger seat to a plug under the center console. You actually have to remove the passenger seat to replace the O2 sensor, but its not that big of a job really. Full instructions can be found here:

The lock cylinder is most likely bad. Otherwise if you're trying to remove the key from the car make sure it is fully in park.
