this whistle may ve cause for deficiency of ground caused of installing a stereo components with amplificators and all that, or the windshield is starting to detach.

In my Toyota tercel model 1998 is located in right part of the engine, next to the windshield. Right beside the brake fluid canister. I hope that helps.

Possibly the alternator bearings are going out, the belt might be adjusted too tightly, or another device powered by that belt could be going bad. The water pump is commonly powered by the same belt as the alternator, and the bearings in the water pump could be intermittantly siezing up momentarily. Check all pulleys used by the alternator belt, except the crankshaft pulley, to make sure that they turn freely, have no play, and do not grind when turned. When installed, the belt should have about 1/2 inch (12mm) free play along the longest reach of the belt. If there is not sufficient play, the belt will break very quickly, and all components driven by the belt will be damaged.

1994 Standard coupe model Tercels have 13" tires. About 155/80/R13.

A 1997 tercel ce with a 1.5 liter ,3 valve per cylinder takes exactly 3 ltrs of oil with the filter changed also. Reconmend 5w-30 or 10w-30 if your car has high milage for oil...

Your car is either running way too rich or the rings are worn out and your buring oil. If it is just running rich one of your sensors are out or you need a general tune up. If your rings are worn out then your engine needs rebiult. To tell if your rings are bad your cars smokey exhaust will have a blueish tint to the smoke.

The 1998 Toyota signal relay switch is located below the dashboard, on the drivers side. The signal switch simply plugs in and out.

one is probably for the transmission, the other for the engine coolant. Me and my friend just took apart the front end of her 86 trecel and we found two rads, one was for her engine coolant and the other was for her air conditioning.

be shure the crank is on tdc and look at the sprocket on the cam you will see a dot . put the dot straight up and put it back together.if you don't know tdc check the timing mark at 0 against the harmonic balance.if you still don't get it you need a tech. . this isn't a job for a novice.

it is right on the back of the engine you have to first unbolt the wire going into the back of it then there should be 2 bolts and it just slides out and then reverse the process to install its really not that bad

A good tip if your starter clicks but does not spin the motor (a most common starter failure). The starter solenoid is easily removed and opened once the starter has been removed from the car. It has a metalic disc inside which makes contact with two internal bolts as the solenoid is activated. These become charred and burned over a long time and can be sanded and cleaned to restore usage for several more years. This has has been a long used process on many other types of automobile starters.

without remove the air filter assembly, bolts are difficult to access.

The last year the awsome Toyota Tercel was in production was 1999......(sad face) It was replaced by the ugly Echo....blech!!

Hello my friend. It most certainly is your Evaporator , its an A/C device located behind the glovebox altough most of the time complete dash removal is required ! It is located right next to your heater core , of course check all the line going to it before buying a new one ! Good luck.

The timing setting for a 1988 Toyota Tercel is the "3E" hole lines at the top. This setting is for a Tercel EZ 1500 engine.

It is one of several potential problems. If it's low battery voltage the battery is unable to maintain enough current to engage and operate the starter. If it's a loose or poor battery terminal connection the connection may be weak and not capable of carrying the current load of the starter motor. If it's a faulty starter it could be engaging but the electric motor part is not functioning.

If the lights go completely off when you try to crank the engine, it's probably a bad connection. If the lights severely dim when you try to crank the engine it's probably a bad battery or alternator that is unable to keep the battery charged. A battery is only a storage device. It stores electrical energy that is created by the alternator. If the alternator has failed, the battery does not get charged and won't be able to start an engine. The battery can also just be old and unable to hold a charge. If the lights don't dim much when you try to start the engine it might be that the starter just isn't engaging.

it should be located behind the motor underneat the intake manifold. it's not exactly the most comfortiable item to remove from the car.
