How do you adjust the headlights on a 1996 Toyota Tercel?
There are 2 adjustments on the back of the headlight. The outside lower adjustment is accomplished by turning the inner plastice radius not the outer slip hold down nut. In order to adjust the light it is necessary to grip the smooth inner plastic radius that extends out beyond the hold down nut. This happens pretty fast and is noticeable farely quickly. There is another access port from the top as well however it is a pain. So, it is easer to just grip the smooth plastic on the outside. The adjustment to the upper inner is accomplished more easily with an 8mm socket or wrench an is farely easy and readily visible. Both adjustment are normally white plastiic on a black plastic casing and adjust over a metal screw. Hope this is enough.
4-cylinder 99 tercel starts the stalls starts again and stalls then the battery is dead?
It sounds like your alternator is no longer recharging your battery. You probably need a new alternator.
What type of freon does a Toyota Camry use?
It depends on the year of the car. From 1994 on, R134a refrigerant is used. Prior to that, they used R12 refrigerant (Freon). R134a is technically not "Freon". Be alert, however, as many older cars (like my 1986 Camry) have been retro-fitted with R134a systems, and can no longer accept Freon, as the two refrigerants are not compatible.

The same place you check the transmission fluid. Make sure the engine is warm and do not overfill. A funnel is a must.

find the timing spec on the label under the hood ( i think its 10 degrees BTC) get engine to operating temperature find the grey plug in the engine compartment labeled "diagnosis" open the cover and with a jumper wire, connect tmls. TE1 and E1 (this makes the engine run at base timing) clamp timing light around #1 plugwire clip power and ground leads of timing light to battery shine on timing marks, if the timing is off loosen the 2 12mm bolts securing the distributor to the head and twist until the mark on the pulley matches the spec. tighten the bolts remove timing light and jumper

Where is the windshield washer pump on a 1995 Toyota Tercel located?
To get to the pump you must remove the left front wheel. The pump and holding tank are located behind the front of the plastic fender liner. Be careful removing the plastic pins that hold the liner to the fender, you will want to reuse them. There is one or two bolts at the very front of the liner. I would remove those first, then see how many of the plastic pins must come off. The pump is plugged into the tank. As you know, all you can see under the hood is the filler tube. It's all hidden behind the fender liner. Hope this helps!
1997 Wrangler is shaking violently at 60 mph.?
I pullled the jeep on the highway, and once it crawled to 60 MPH, it started to vibrate violently. My mechanic told me that the tires are too aggressive, but they are Toyo Open Country A/T...had a pair on my old vehicle, SAME SIZE, and they never did this. The wrangler has 130000 miles on it...what could be the problem. I cant stand driving the car 30 miles on the highway each morning like that...though my girlfriend quite enjoyed it!
Did you balance the tires? I had the same problem with my 97...
It is probably because the sensor under the seat for the seat belt has disconnected
--Same thing happened to me. The light would go out when I pulled on the seatbelt. The reason was the simple fact that the belt was twisted before it came out of the shoulder "bracket". Oh... The sensor is in the door post, not under the seat. I also thought of that eventuality and checked. Nope, no sensor under the seat!
Why would the EGR valve on 1996 Toyota tercel fail when brand new?
You more than likely have a clogged egr port.
Remove the EGR valve and clean the ports going to the engine with carb cleaner.
Wind the window down (not totally vital, but makes it easier), remove all the inside hardware (door handle, window crank - need to push off a clip) and pry out the panel at the bottom. There's a dozen or so plastic pins that are inserted into the door and need to be (gently and straight out) released. The top of the interior panel is under the black window edge "rubber" and needs to be released by pushing the rubber in while lifting the interior panel. The door lock knob can be pushed down at the same time and you'll be holding the interior panel. The exterior latch mechanism is held on by two short (10mm socket) bolts. The forward one is accessible (after winding the window back up) and the aft one can be reached thru a hole that is covered by a stick-on patch.
You are probably doing this because the latch (which has been sticky for a while) has come apart at the pivot. The pivot socket will be cracked and is not repairable.
There is:
A: There is a loose connection between the cables and the battery. Which means you would most likely have to clean/replace the battery cable clamps.
B:Ignition Relay switch is damaged, which can be replaced.
C: There may be the incorrect battery for your vehicle, that there is not enough power (CCA: Cold Cranking Amps) to fully start your vehicle.
Any of these choices could be your problem, When you turn and hold down the ignition switch to start the engine, there's not enough power to both light the dashboard and instrument cluster and start the vehicle at the same time, therefore making the relay ignition switch "arc" some electricity through the switch, thus creating the clicking sound.
What is the spark plug gap on a 1990 Toyota Tercel?
How do you change the thermostat on a 1992 Toyota tercel?
I just changed mine two days ago. The biggest problem is that it is located below the distributor which makes it hard to get to, but it is very easy to replace otherwise. Just two nuts, and pull off the housing. Remove the old thermostat, make sure the o-ring is in place on the new one, insert it, replace the housing and the two nuts. Just "snug down" the nuts, making sure to tighten them together and not one and then the other, and you are done! Start the car and let it run to check for leaks. Mine only lost about a pint of antifreeze during the change.
How do you repair the carburetor on an '84 Toyota Tercel engine 3AC?
Well, I tried this on my 86 tercel 4WD wagon, and I think the short answer is "you don't." The aisan carburetor on this model has a lot of little parts rattling around inside it (just like any carburetor, I suppose!) and it's difficult to get back together and have it run right. Plus, it needs to be calibrated to work with the feedback system installed on those vehicles. Mine works more or less, but I'm planning on just biting the bullet and buying a professionally rebuilt unit. I figured that after 150k miles, the car deserves it! Here's a link to a site I found that seems to carry the one I need:
http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/cat-toyotacar.html
I saw some improvement after rebuilding mine, but the bigger problem might be the emission controls that work with the carb. I would consult a manual and check these out before tearing into the carb. Some people are putting Weber 32/36 carbs on the 3AC motor. Check out this thread:
