There isn't one. There is a plug on the side of the transmission that you fill the trans. to. When you reach that level (and, of course, it starts spilling), you're full.

perhaps the mechanic did not use new isolation washers in the installation of the new pump. or, maybe the new pump was not like-for-like and this one is more noisy... part of the problem is that we car owners truly live with our cars and often the mechanic wont be as spiritually in-tune to the shakes, rattles, and humms that we feel really stand out...Good luck...BB

on my 92, if ur sitting in the drivers seat it is on ur left kinda hidden by the hood pop, u just pop the lid off and there is all ur fuses.

The spark plugs themselves may be faulty, although this is somewhat unlikely. Another likely possibility are plug wires that are cracked. These can be checked for continuity with an ohm meter. This vehicle may be new enough to have an electronic spark module, which could also be bad. If it still uses a tradition coil, the coil may also be bad. First I would check the coil wire and maybe have the coil tested. Napa or any other parts store should be able to help you out. If that isn't the problem pull the distributer cap and check your points and rotor. Take a fine piece of sandpaper and clean the surfaces. If that doesn't work move to the plug wires and coil wire.

Toyota Tercels do not have cabin air filters. Toyota did not put a cabin air filter in any Tercel sold in the US

your fuel pump is at the top of your engine right next to your air filter on the right side, if your facing it.it looks like a silver round tenis ball with hoses coming out of it.

You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library -- make copies of the right sections as they are usually only available in the REFERENCE section...good luck :)

There is a switch called the reverse backup light switch attached to the shifter. When you move the shifter into reverse, the switch is closed and current goes back to the reverse lights. The switch is located on both auto and manual trans. After making sure your bulbs are good, that is where I would look. And make sure your fuses are not blown as well in your fuse block. There usually is not just a circuit dedicated to reverse lights only but there is always something a manufacturer will do some years just to be different.

You can buy a new, book (paper) version directly from the Toyota website, but they are expensive. I don't know why they don't sell cheap electronic versions (are they really focused on profits from repair manuals??). I bought my repair manual used on eBay for a big discount over new so do some searching.

Finally, its totally unauthorized, but if you really search, you can find an electroinc (PDF) version of the echo/yaris repair manual floating around for free on the internet. I believe its technically the 1998 Yaris manual, but its pretty much identical to the 2000-2002 Echo manual although its missing some portions of the real manual.

The starter is on the back of the engine. To remove the starter, disconnect the battery. Remove the air filter and intake assemblies. Next you need to go under the car and disconnect the two wires. You'll nee a 10mm wrench and a 12mm wrench. Next you'll need to come in from the top. There are two bolts (14mm) that connect the starter to the transaxel case. They are identical so don't worry about marking them for reassembly. It's a pretty easy job to do and the starter is small, light and easy to handle.

The water pump on 1990 tercels is not driven by the timing belt like most vehicles, instead it is driven by the alternator belt, making the previous answer completely wrong. It is a bit of a pain the change as you have to disconnect everything attached to it but the job does not require dropping the engine or mount removal or anything like that. Pick up a haynes, chiltons, etc. guide if you're going to do it and you will have no trouble.

1983... As memory serves it's got a mechanical pump correct? Anyway, without knowing why your pumps are failing I can only guess as to why but the things that occure to me are an engine defect such as a bad fuel pump drive or just plain old cheap pumps. Bad drive: if there's a problem with the drive like maybe it's worn out or something, this might be tearing up your fuel pumps push arm. (is that what's happening?) Cheap pumps: Kinda self explanatory. note: many times parts coming from a dealer doesn't make them any better. They get them from the same place everybody else does and just stick there name on the box.

1995 Toyota Tercel uses two coils . 4 speed model has them mounted directly over spark plugs 3 & 4.

Firing order is 1-3-4-2.

plug wires 1 & 4 are on coil over plug #4

Plug wires 2 & 3 are on coil over plug #3

Unseen wire on each coil goes down from coil to plugs.

Valve adjust is done on cold engine by swapping shims

I rotated the lifter till I could access the shim and pushed the

tiny screwdriver point between the lifter and the bottom of the shim

disk which is the size of an American Quarter dollar.

Be sure to block near by oil drain passages in the head as the shim

might drop into one of those passages if you don't remove it with the

lifter. I know as I had this problem myself. A piece of paper towel nicely stuffed into the drain passages solves that potential problem. Shims can be

retrieved with the proper needle nose pliers if that happens to you.

Timing marks for the intake cam (the one closest to the front of the car

and the exhaust manifold) and the exhaust cam (the one closest to the rear

of the car and next to the intake manifold - this is confusing for most mechanics as it seems backwards to them) ... intake cam has 1 dot on the side of the gear away from the timing belt ... on other models or years with DOHC that might have a timing chain it is the same one dot on the back side of the gear. Exhaust cam has two dots. With the #1 piston at TDC ... use a wire in the spark plug hole and turning engine CLOCKWISE check timing mark ... on a 1995 Tercel there was a sprocket behind the timing belt drive pulley and when the flat had just gone by the pointer/nipple cast into the block then the piston was at TDC, Also the hodge pin that held on the timing belt drive pulley was at 12:00 high. With the crank properly positioned then the cams are rotated till the 3 dots are in perfect alignment. When that is so then the air gap on the teeth below and above those dots will be exactly the same. Put your belt on the engine is perfectly timed.
