How reliable is a double turbo C-15 caterpillar engine?
Not very. The 6NZ - the last of the single turbo Cats - was probably the best on-highway engine Cat ever made. Anything after that - MBN, Bridge Cat, and especially ACERT - was junk.
No it will NOT harm your truch, providing you did a decent job at draining the tank, the fuel lines, and at least draining the fuel filters. Even if a little gasoline remains in the fuel system somehwere it will get mixed with the diesel to the point of no damage. Also, I'm not sure exactly what year model Chevy started it, but in 1992 and on Ford installed low pressure sensors in the fuel filter block so the fuel pump will simply shut down preventing damage. to diesel engines for this very reason AND for the natural condensation factor during cold temperature conditions. Hope this helps answer your question, but you'd probably feel better by taking this information and doing research on your exact model to ensure accuracy. Once you get it running let's tie up with my 7.3L powerstorke and have some fun... I'm just messing around with ya there. I AM a Ford fan, but I also appreciate Chevy and Dodge as well. Made In USA! At least they're assembled here anyway... LOL!! Good Luck, my cyber-friend.
What is the difference between turbos and gas compressors in cars?
a turbo recycles unburnt gases,(fuel)back to be used and burnt. a gas compressor compresses fuel before it enters combustion chamber to make engine, more efficient
1. The above is wrong and not even worth remembering.
A turbo does not recycle exhaust gas back into the intake stream, that is the job of an EGR (exhaust gas return) valve. A turbocharger works by using the expansion factor of a super heated gas passing from a compressed state to a non compressed state to rotate a turbine wheel on the turbine side of the turbocharger. This is the side that all of the exhaust gasses will go through once expelled by the engine. The exhaust gasses are then routed to the tail pipe via the exhaust system. The turbine wheel is attached to the compressor wheel by the turbo shaft. The compressor wheel draws filtered air from the air filter and compresses it. In a gas engine you must understand that the engine has what is called a mechanical compression ratio often noted like 9.5 to 1. In a turbocharged or supercharged gas engine you must combine the mechanical compression ratio and the % factor of the turbocharger or supercharger to get a configured compression ratio. A higher compression ratio in a gasoline will increase power output. In a diesel engine a turbo performs the same way but is used to match fuel to air more than to raise the compression ratios which are usually about 20 to 1 and can be higher. I believe that the term "gas compressor" is sometimes used to explain a turbocharger in the European market such as the Mercedes Kompressor. Many of my European friends refer to turbocharged cars as gas compressor engines. To the above author who wrote that the gas compressor compresses fuel; you need to understand Physics. You can't compress fluid. Fluids are pressurized by a restriction in the fluid stream, if there is no restriction, there is no pressurization. The gasoline is supplied in volume by the fuel pump and restricted to a point by the fuel pressure regulator which bypasses any amount of overpressure back to the fuel tank. Now to the EGR valve. This valve takes an amount of burnt or inert exhaust gas and introduces it back into the intake stream. This gas is inert (there are no fuel calories left in this gas to burn) and is used to lower combustion temperatures. Oxides of nitrogen (represented as NoX) are created at combustion temps of 2500 degrees F. and over. By introducing an inert gas (approx. 10%) there is less air and fuel by volume and therefore lower combustion temps.
What is the difference between marine turbo engine and marine engine?
the difference is that one is turbocharged and one isnt, but both are marine engines. Keep in mind, there is a difference between marine and non-marine engines.
How do you flash an obd 2 computer 2003 Dodge Cumins turbo diesel?
Smarty, Banks, Edge and Bully Dog all make handheld tuners for the 03+ dodge cummins.
Will a Forge Blow-Off Adaptor void a mini cooper s warranty or service?
yes, any modifiations to a vehicles engine, lights, steroe, etc. voids the warranty.
A turbo timer is a device which keeps the engine running after the key is removed. The purpose of the TT is to continue cooling the turbo by circulating oil through the turbo's oil lines, to avoid the effect of oil coking, in which oil sits in the hot lines, bakes, and develop deposits that may degrade turbo bearing performance. A turbo timer is not required of all vehicles - the Subaru WRX owner manual specifically addresses this issue, but some older vehicles will benefit from the practice of installing one.
Where is the knock sensor on a 1991 300zx 2 2 non turbo?
The knock sensor on Nissan 300ZX non-turbo from 1990 thru 1996 is located below the lower intake manifold on the rear of the engine block. To replace the knock sensor the upper and lower intake manifolds need to be removed. It is always best to replace the knock sensor with a new one considering its major dissasembly.
Can you put a supercharger on a stock engine?
You can put a supercharger on a stock engine it depends on how much boost you run wether your engine can handle it or not.
Can you have a twin turbo and twin superchargers in a car?
Both twin turbo AND Twin superchargered, you could..but it would be a complicated installation. Also it would be a very expensive to do, and not worth it...horsepower wise.
Volkswagen did have a car with both a supercharger and a turbo. The real reason to run twin - anything... Is that there isn't enough room to fit 1 Big one or you have a sequential set up with a small turbo for low end response and a big turbo for the top end. Twin set-ups are more expensive, complex. You can debate that twins spool faster, but they only see half the exhaust flow, and I have never seen a back to back test proving it and most big turboes are more effiecent.
Can you fit a dump valve on a non turbo?
In the exhaust, post O2 sensor, yes. Drag racers have been doing this to free up hp for years at the track. Using it on the street can get you a ticket due to noise restraints, plus by-passing the Catalytic converter is emission illegal.
Why are you getting a real loud whistle from your 96 ram diesel turbo?
It could be a boost leak issue, need to check the tubing/clamps. If it was serviced, check to make sure the silencer ring is still in place. Removing it willmake the truck sound like a freight train.
Can a car turbo run without a intercooler?
A car can run with out an intercooler, but if it was designed to have an intercooler, the driveabilty will be affected.
Do you need to reprogram your ecu when adding a turbocharger?
yes i want to reprogram my ECU of my bike
Is there a supercharger for Crossfire?
We carry pretty much every brand and I have NOT seen any on the market.
What are symptoms of bad turbocharger?
Smoking, knocking and major oil loss are the major symptoms of a turbocharger failure.
Short for turbocharger, It is an exhaust driven air compressor. Exhaust gases exit the engine and enter the turbine housing where it spins the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel is connected to a shaft which the compressor wheel is also attached. When more power is needed, the turbine/compressor wheel assembly spins faster and the compressor wheel sucks in more air and compresses it creating boost/positive manifold pressure/more power.
How long does it take to repair a head gasket on a Daewoo?
Hi, According to the VACC times guide, a head gasket remove and replace takes 2.8 hours. I just got charged $900 for labour ($1300 all together) and am now taking the mechanic to court over the matter! Dont let them rip you off on labour... Ive been quoted around the $80 an hour mark for labour... meaning a head gasket repair should cost around $650! DO NOT LET YOUR MECHANIC RIP YOU OFF! Also please make sure that they use new bolts and spark plugs as lots of mechanics will try and get away with using the old ones to save a few bux... DONT LET THEM. It will cause your head gasket to blow again (i only got 2 weeks out of mine!)
So theres your answer.... 2.8 hours....
Thanks!
How do you replace a Audi 1.8t 1999 model cylinder head gasket?
You gotta tear the engine down. Very time consuming and if your not a very skilled mechanic, i would not try it.
Can you run a turbo car with no turbo?
It depends on the specific car. Some will be undriveable without the turbo, but in any case it will be severely out of tune. With the turbo missing you can expect, at best, reduced performance, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions.
Why cant you put a blow off valve on a non turbo car?
You could mount it, but there is no pressure to blow off.
Can a post turbo exhaust leak cause a power loss on a non wastegated turbo?
Yes, If it is a EFI engine and the leak is infront of the O2 sensor. It will throw off the air/fuel ratio and reduce power.
What is better a supercharger or a procharger?
Procharger is a supercharger. It is a brand of centrifugal superchargers.
