Turbo and Superchargers

One of the louder BOVs on the market is the TurboXS RFL (Real F$@%!#& Loud), although venting to atmosphere is not always the best thing for smooth driving. A vehicle meters the air before it enters the engine, and adjusts fuel accordingly. If the air is then vented to the atmosphere between shifts instead of being kept inside, then a rich condition occurs and bucking will result. This is the reason vehicles come with bypass valves from the factory.

Any engine can be turbo charged, how much boost you can run depends on a number of factors( comp. ratio, cylinder head material, how much can you engine handle, fuelyour running, how much you want to spend). 6-8psi is normal for most kits, buthave seen stock engines running 10-12psiwith high octane withan intercooler or meth injection. Depend on make/model their might be a few kits avail. making it more economical to buy.

turbo charger and super charger are close to the same thing just ones belt driven and other is powered by the exhaust the turbo is always spinning even at idle but most turbo on car will kick in about 1k rpm depending on how hard you push the gas pedal down will determine how fast the turbo will produce more boost (turbo's are always spinning its just the waste gate that close when the engine loses vacuum(hitting the gas harder)once it lose vacuum the valve closes keeping all the boost in the intake) i know on my supra i produce boost at 900 rpm's and will be at max 15psi boost at around 2k rpm's

unless u can do a motor swap ur self, its pretty complicated. The best way to go about that is u go to Georgia to z1 motorsports. theyll do a 400HP tt motorswap for 7800 dollars. and the 400horses is a reliable everyday driver. u can bolt a turbo on a standard rb30, but yes it will prematurely destroy the engine, You should really rebuild the engine for it but at the very least, you should take the head off and have it re-faced and o-ringed and then install it back on with a decompression plate (available from repco).

You should only do this to a motor that is in good nick to begin with, Its a bit silly to get an old engine with 300,000 k's on it and make it work harder all of a sudden.

After the turbo's bolted on make sure the timing is NO MORE than the stock amount (i think its 15' btdc for an RB30). and use premium 98 octane fuel, This should eliminate any Detonation issues, But to be sure, you should check audibly by stopping on a steep hill and then flooring it to put the motor under load and listed for any pinging.

Change the exhaust to at least 2 and a half inches and use a high flow cat and mandrel bends. You will not need any back pressure in the exhaust anymore because the turbo will provide this for the engine now.

Start with low to moderate boost (maybe 6psi). and you should be tyre frying with decent reliability.

Simply put, a turbocharger uses the exhaust to spin a turbine thus compressing air which is then forced into the intake. A supercharger is driven off the engine crankshaft and forces air into the intake. They both do the same thing but the turbocharger uses the exhaust gases to compress air and the supercharger uses the engine's motion.

It's a VAG Group engine, the 1.8 20v turbo. The 5v on the engine cover refers to 5 valves per cylinder. 5 (valves) x 4 (cylinders) = 20v. On Audi engine covers such as TT, A3 etc it said 5v Turbo. On the VW engine covers such as Golf GTI, Bora it said 1.8T. Hope this helps.

There are a couple of ways. Changing the pulley size to a smaller supercharger pulley will increase the speed of the supercharger, giving you more boost. You can also go with a larger crank pulley and it will do the same thing. Please keep in mind that when you do this you are adding more air into the engine so you will need to add more fuel. Getting it tuned afterwards will be a great idea. You can also do a thing called "S Porting." This is basically porting out the supercharger and slightly modifing it so that the air flows smoother. Also you can just get it custom tuned. By putting your car on a dyno and having them adjust the air/fuel mixture and timing curves it will result in better performance and more HP

Depends on what type of dump truck, and what year. Most current Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles have a turbocharger, which are typically found towards the rear of the engine compartment, The exact location may vary with truck make and model and motor.

depends...is it stock or not? Easiest: Make it lighter ie throw out all jun, backseats, carpets, etc. Engine tuning might be more reasonable though..

You can actually put a lot of engines in there the question is what are you going to do with the truck. also what engines will match up with your ECU and what engines will cause the least headache in attaching all the little items on it. If I'm not mistaken you probably had a VG series, Nissans most popular 6 cylinder from the years surrounding that truck, you could even go get a supercharged engine out of an Xtera and throw it in there. I'd look around the junk yards for a pathfinder or 6 cylinder hardbody engine, that would be easiest. or check out NISSANCUSTOMS.COM they mainly concern themselves with mini truckers (what any normal 2wd Nissan owner does!) but the engines are all the same and they are very nice and knowledgeable. you probably don't even have to join, just search the forums as I'm sure that question has been asked a hundred times

Replacing a CT9 Turbo with a CT12a turbo in most cases would not be a good idea. It really depends on the brand being talked about, but most every brand would require the Turbo called for.

Thanks to modern workshops, you can slap a turbo on pretty much anything. Just depends how deep your pockets are.. Go Pro, you'll need new exhaust headers and gaskets and rings and ecu... and more

It is a garrett turbo, turbonetic sells, T series are more race oriented than T3/T4 turboes(have a high p/r threshold), the T66 has a 66mm/91mm wheel can flow 72lbs/min = has a max of aprox. 720hp.

It Depends on how much more Horsepower you want. If you want alot more horsepower go with the Turbo,but if you want a little go with the supercharger. If you want to install a turbo you going to have to do little engine work to prevent your engine from blowing, installing a turbo can be expensive. Installing a supercharger doesn't need to much engine work, but can be cheaper than a turbo. It all depends how much time and money you want to spend.

I had the same problem it was just low on oil. ******************* It's usually lifter noise. It can be particularly nerve-wracking after the car has set for an extended period. As suggested, keeping your oil at the correct level will minimize it, but you might hear a little bit of lifter noise on every start.

You can, but it'd be amazingly pointless. The blow valve is needed on turbo engines to release the pressure that can build up if the driver goes off the throttle quickly and the engine revs drops fast. W/o a turbo you won't get any pressure build-up so there's no use for a blow valve.

As long as it passes emissions... in the USA, no. Most manufacturers have 50 state legal kits.

By rebuilding the turbo in the bearings and seals and using a thicker oil or adding stop oil burn additive for a short term repair

i not sure but it could be the drain for the fuel fulterhousing mines doing the same thing but its leakin from right behind the motor

Are you sure it is not a fuel return line from the injectors?

Actually a genuine 16g turbo (not those cheap Ebay knock off turbos) can run a lot more boost than 19psi. Hell a 16g is just starting to hit its efficiency range around that 20 psi range. I've seen plenty of car run over 30 psi on a 16g! Trust me run 18 psi on one and the turbo's kick is so-so.... crank it up to 25 and that turbo will kick like a horse!!
