How do you reset the service light on the 940 volvoafter an oil change?

Below the speedometer there are 2 reset buttons. The one that sticks out resets the odometer. The other one is under a little rubber plug. (If the plug isn't lost) Pry out the plug and push in the reset button. The button can be pushed through the plug, but sometimes the plug ends up inside the cluster. I just take out the plug and throw it away.

Where can you get a wiring diagram for a 1992 Volvo 940?

I got mine from Ebay, cost pennies.

Go to local Volvo dealer service counter and ask service advisor and they will copy you one for "free." I know this because that's what I just did today. Goodluck. Ron0629

How do you replace a front corner light assembly on a 1994 Volvo 940?

Look to the side of the main light cluster in the engine compartment, you should see a small clip holding the side light, bend this in carefully and the light just pulls out. I have replaced both of mine and it took about 10 minutes max. You can buy replacements on eBay for about $35 vs $100+ at the dealer. Re-use the little plastic vent caps to keep out moisture. My eBay lenses held up better in S Florida than the factory lenses.

How do you replace upper brake light bulb Volvo in Volvo crosscounrty?

You take off the panel that covers the speaker. Then you pull out the speaker. Then you reach in and turn the socket of the bulb and it will come out. When you take them out I always put a mark on which side was facing me so it is easier to put it back in. It can be a pain but you should be able to do it.

The brake light switch is up underneath near/connected to your brake pedal arm. Also, don't rule out that you simply have a bad bulb or corroded connection possibly causing the issue. If it is a bad bulb, see sources and related links below for bulb information.

PVC valve system on Volvo 940?

Volvo 940s do not have PVC valves. They do however have positive crankcase ventilation. Non torbo models have a flame trap that can clog, cause excessive crankcase pressure and blow out the oil seals. The flame trap should be checked every oil change. Change to the new plastic one if you still have the old brass finned one. It clogs faster. It is smaller than a golf ball. It mounts atop a 1/2 inch hose comming up from the oil box on the engine under the intake manifold between #3 & #4 cylinders. It has a small hose out the side and a "Ball Cap" hose on top.

1995 Volvo 940 turbo This car stalls frequently usually at idle but occasionally during actual cruising speeds Sometimes it takes several minutes and multiple tries to restart Any ideas?

Common problem on 700 and 900 series volvos. The fuel pump relay begins to occasionaly fail after 10 years or so. The relay is located behind the change tray/cig. lighter... near all of the fuses. It is the tall white one, kind of to the drivers (left) side. Volvo charges about $85 US dollars for the relay. I got the same relay through an independent repair shop for $55. Good for another 10 years or so.

How do you replace headlight lens cover for Volvo 240 1993?

Unless it is broken or cracked it does not need to be replaced. At Walmart and I'm sure automotive stores there is a product ($20) that restores the lens. It comes in a package...includes two grades of sandpaper, a gritty compound and a sealer. It is amazing. Used it on my son's 1992 Subaru and my daughters 1989 Volvo. They are almost new and you can actually see at night now.

Where is the temperature sensor on a 1991 940 turbo Volvo?

I'm not 100% sure, but I would expect Volvo to keep them located in the same location and that would be in the Thermostat Housing. The part you would be looking for on your engine (where the thermostat is) would be screwed into it and have wires coming off it. This would be your Temp-sensor and is inexpensive to buy and easy to replace. Go to your local parts store to get.

Why do I get very Bad gas mileage in 1994 Volvo 940 wagon?

If a complete tune-up (with new ignition wires, plugs, air filter, cap, rotor) does not improve gas mileage, replace the coolant temperature sensor. The sensor is located under the intake manifold. Cost is about $39.00. Check the shape of the wiring socket to make sure you get the right sensor.

How often should you change brake pads on a Volvo?

Older rear-wheel drive Volvos eat front brake pads. In city driving, I would average 20 - 25,000 miles max on the fronts. Since most of the effort is on the front brakes, the rear pads last significantly longer. I've had 4 Volvos, 240, (2) 740s and a 940 (current) The rear pads will get 100k. If you car is about 100k mileage and you're doing the front, I'd recommend doing the rears too. I've had better life with ceramic pads, but they tend to squeal. Volvos dust badly also, and dust seals are not recommended. Eagle One makes an all-wheel cleaner for about $5.00 USD that works very well.

Note: When Pulling a radio from the junkyard don't forget the VIN from that junker or you wasted you time!
