Unless it is broken or cracked it does not need to be replaced. At Walmart and I'm sure automotive stores there is a product ($20) that restores the lens. It comes in a package...includes two grades of sandpaper, a gritty compound and a sealer. It is amazing. Used it on my son's 1992 Subaru and my daughters 1989 Volvo. They are almost new and you can actually see at night now.

The transmission overdrive relay is locate behind the fuse box.
The fuse box is located behind the front ashtray.
To replace it:
Remove the ashtray
After you remove the ashtry, pull the cigarrete lighter out, pull the cover of the lighter out, remove two Philips screws and remove the box above the ashtray.

I'm not 100% sure, but I would expect Volvo to keep them located in the same location and that would be in the Thermostat Housing. The part you would be looking for on your engine (where the thermostat is) would be screwed into it and have wires coming off it. This would be your Temp-sensor and is inexpensive to buy and easy to replace. Go to your local parts store to get.

Since most of the effort is on the front brakes, the rear pads last significantly longer. I've had 4 Volvos, 240, (2) 740s and a 940 (current) The rear pads will get 100k. If you car is about 100k mileage and you're doing the front, I'd recommend doing the rears too. I've had better life with ceramic pads, but they tend to squeal. Volvos dust badly also, and dust seals are not recommended. Eagle One makes an all-wheel cleaner for about $5.00 USD that works very well.

I cut the back of my hands removing an almost new pump from the green machine after I totaled it.
My mechanic put it in by droping the tank. The hoses are the worst part. I cut them on the salvaged part.
MoreIn theory you can replace it through the access plate in the trunk. That's how I remover the one in the green machine. It is real hard to disconnect and reconnect the hoses from above. Putting the car on jack stands and crawing under doesn't help much. With small hands and long arms it may be possible.On 940 without the Regina pump there are two pumps one a low volume pump in the tank attached to the fuel sender monster and the other is under the driver's side of the car mounted with a fule filter on a removable plate.
The pump in the tank can be removed by popping he plate in the trunk and disconnecting the hoses and wires for the pump and sender unit. It needs to be twisted out because 1. the access plate is too small and 2. the design is unnecessarily complex. Replacement is much more difficult because the sender, tank filler assembly can come apart and drop into the tank making it necessary to start over. This is a bad design all around.
The under car pump can be removed easily by disconnection the fuel feed line and clamping it to prevent siphoning, unbolting the fuel filter banjo fitting that runs to the fuel rail on the engine, and removing the two bolts and one nut that hold the bracket to the frame. The electrical connectors are push on pull off type. The pump is a proprietary design and it can be a pain to modify an after market pump to match up to the banjo, fuel input and electrical connectors all of which are proprietary. This is another bad design.
Most problems can be solved by checking the fuel pump relay before you start.
The door lock actuator needs to be replaced if it only has enough strength to bring the lock down half way. To replace the door lock actuator remove the door panel and unplug the old unit. Be sure to note where the locking mechanisms are set to correctly place the new unit.

Relay Locations. See Michael Ponte's excellent illustrations below to identify relays in 740/940 cars. To access relays, remove the snap-on cover over the cigarette lighter, then remove the two screws securing the storage box. Remove the box and you will see the relay tray behind the fuses.
In 960 cars, the relays are in the same location but mounted on a vertical relay board.

In 92-94 US spec 960s, the flasher relay is built into the hazard light switch in the dash. I would assume this would be the same in all markets, but that may not be the case.
