The rear wiper/washer fuse is located in the fuse box, it's #33. If you open the hood and look by where the driver's side hood hinge mounts to the body, you will see a black plastic cover with a small latch on it. This cover is about 7" by 3". That's the cover to the fuse box. Inside the cover is a lebel that will help you find the right fuse. The relay is mounted under the dash, on the driver's side. You will have to remove the lower dash cover to get to it, it's held in by 1 Torx T-25 screw. Now, crawl under the dash with a flashlight (very important, as it's dark up there) and you will see a piece of white plastic with a bundh of relays and wires going to it. The rear wiper relay is in the top row, on the right. There may or may not be a number 204 on it. Another possibility is that the wires going from the car to the tailgate have broken from years of opening and closing the tailgate. If that's the case, the tailgate panel and the inner body panels aroung the tailgate will have to come off to get the harness out for repairs. Be careful with the plastic panels, as they are old and brittle, and may break easily. massvolvoman

In dry climates rubber suspension componets wear out more quickly than one would expect. If you use any wrong chemicals you can expect the componet you added the wrong chemical to have a failure shortly after so it is suggested you only use Volvo chemicals.

The sump plug on a Volvo v70 (and all other 5cyl Volvo's) located by first raising the auto up on secure lifts (rhino type avail at most auto part stores). Crawl directly under the front wheel area and remove the plastic protection panel. Once the panel is removed the sump (oil pan) will be in direct view. The oil filter is located just to the right side (passenger side).

Note, you will need a 86mm end cap filter wrench to remove the plastic oil filter cover. A conventional oil wrench will not allow you enough room to turn the filter.

Remove the clear lenses from the overhead lights near rearview mirror. Use a torx driver to remove two small screws holding bezel in place. Remove bezel. Now you can access the the two torx screws holding mirror.

Take it to a dealer. If there a/c is not working then there is a leak. Charging your a/c system is a very dangerous job and can be killed by it. Take it to a dealer or a trusted garage.

In the '99 V70, its under the front hood between the windshield and left front wheel well.

Provided the belt does not break, yes it will be safe....but if the belt breaks, then you will ruin your engine.

Not quite sure what you are referring to ... to you mean the engine oil or the gearbox oil? If you mean the engine oil, you'll need the standard bits like a drain pan, 6 liters of oil, a filter cartridge, PLUS a decent floor jack and stands, a Volve filter cap wrench and a torque wrench. (Yes, I've been changing my Volvo oil for many years!) Jack the front end of the car up about 15-20 cm. so you can get under it. Be sure to use the stands - NEVER EVER NEVER GET UNDER A CAR SUPPORTED BY JUST ONE JACK! The drain plug is near the rear of the block, facing back at an angle. Take it off with a 17mm wrench, let the oil drain, put a new metal gasket washer on the drain plug, screw it back in and tighten, being careful not to cross-thread, of course. Use the cap wrench to remove the filter housing. It's in a recessed area in the oil pan to the passenger's side of the car's centre line. It's high-impact plastic, so be cautious removing. Take the cartridge out of the housing (or remove from the engine block if it's stuck inside the recess. Clean off the housing and the mounting base on the engine. Remove the O-ring from the housing and gently slide a new one into the groove below the threads. Put a new cartridge into the housing, pour about 75-100 ml of fresh oil in to prime it, and re-mount the housing on the block. Again, be careful not to cross-thread. You'll need to use a torque wrench to tighten per the specs on the filter cartridge box. Finally pour the rest of the oil into the filler hole on top of the motor. You may want to make a paper skirting around the filler so oil doesn't drip onto the block. Needless to say, the motor should NOT be at operating temp. when you do this, LOL!

This is also refered to as the timing belt. Volvo recommends replacement every 110,000 miles. But recent evidence of failed belts, point to a sooner change. To be safe, replace it before 90,000. It is easy to look at, pull back the access cover on the top left side if the engine. If it shows signs of cracking or the back side is worn shiny (due to a failing idler wheel, which you can hear as a oscillating squeal) change it as soon as possible!

You can try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes. You can also go to any Autozone if you have one locally and they will reset it for you for free. or, you can simply turn your key to the II position on the ignition and your indicator lights should be on. then while still in position II push your trip set button and hold till service light starts blinking,now you have reset your service light for another 7,500 miles.

Volvo 240 series from the 80's. Everything on them is built ruggedly, and they're fun to drive. I have a 1982 245 wagon with 250K+ miles on it, and it's my daily driver.

I believe usuallly it is a High Carbon Steel such as 1080 - 1095 or 5160 series steels

Transmission filter is inside the transmission so you can't get to it unless you drop the transmission and disassemble it. Just a drain and fill is require to maintain it.
