How do you change the front parking light bulb on a 1998 Mazda Millenia?

  • most recent post*

On a 98 Millenia it is actually very simple. Pop your trunk. If you look right on top of your parking light lamps you will notice some screws. Unscrew those and then you will be able to remove your parking light lamp. Replace the bulbs, snap the headlamp back in, screw it back in and then you are good. I was able to do this in less than 15 minutes and im no mechanic at all.

I tried. I failed.I paid ALOT of money to the dealer. The sleek look of the Millenia comes at a price. To replace the parking lamps you have to removethe front grill assembly, because as you havealready discovered, there's just not enough roomto access the lamp housing.

I succeeded ('95 S) it is a pain. There are three bolts to remove the first two are in front but the third is in back and you have to raise the car remove the inner wheel panel and angle the tire (or remove the wheel) and blindly place a socket on it - not easy at all,but it can be done - once you have the headlamp assembly off the car you can polish the plastic lens as well.

How do you change a right front blinker light bulb in a 1991 Toyota Celica?

Hi, I dont know how long ago you made this post. But replacing that bulb is very simple. In my experience, you need two things, a star (philips) head screw driver, and a flat (slot) head screwdriver. If you look at the front of the orange strip light (the strip that flashes when you indicate) you will see a small star head screw. Unscrew this, and that side of the lamp will come off to you kinda easy. You will now observe that the opposite side appears to be stuck slightly, this is where you carefully take the flat head screw driver and very gently, simply 'pop' the strip out in the direction of the star head screw you just removed. Very simple as I said. To replace the actual bulb, you need to simply twist the entire white holder at the rear of the strip about 45 degrees or so, and it will easily detach. Now push down gently on the bulb in the direction of the holder, and slowly twist it again about 45 degrees until it sort of springs loose. If you aren't sure of what type of bulb you need, simply take the old one to a garage or motor factor and have them match it for you, but I believe if memory serves me right its a 381 bulb (Single filament inline holder), but dont take my word for it, its been a long time since I replaced mine. To replace the whole unit, simply follow these instructions in reverse! Best of luck to you and anyone else reading this.

How do you calibrate or adjust the speedometer on a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI with a manual transmission?

Short Answer:

The speedometer cable drive gear, at the transmission end of the cable.

It is available in three different ratios. Each ratio is identified by color and is matched with the transmission code. A completely stock 1983 Rabbit GTi, with a transmission code of 4K, uses the red gear (VW P/N 171.957.821B).

Procedure:

Remove the speedometer cable at the transmission.

Remove the gear, held on by an internal spring clip and replace with one that corresponds to your transmission code or calculated final-drive ratio.

Make sure it seats on properly, you should feel a slight click. Give it a light tug to make sure it won't fall off. Then screw/bolt the clamp back down, You don't want the gear to come off and jam the transmission.

Things to consider:

The wheel and tire's rolling diameter will affect the accuracy of the speedometer. Tread wear and wheel/tire size are a couple of variables. The actual diameter of tires also vary between manufacturers, product lines and production runs.

Calculation of the final drive ratio against the wheel diameter will need to be done if you don't intend to maintain the stock rolling diameter of the tire when changing wheel/tire size.

If the transmission has been replaced, likely it's a different set of ratios. Sometimes this is intentional (to get better highway mileage, for example), but often it's not. The early GTi's stock gear ratios are among of the shortest that Volkswagen produced, some later diesels and fuel-economy variants, the longest. Each application requires a different drive gear to be accurate. Often, the relatively low-production GTi tranny gets replaced with a more common transmission, typically due to cost, availability of serviceable units or for the lack of a better understanding of the parts involved.

The mechanical speedometers themselves, as far I have experienced, are all geared the same. For example, a 1991 16v Jetta GLi speedometer will read properly in a 5-speed 1979 Scirocco, other factors aside, if the drive gear is matched correctly.

A binding cable and other damage or wear to other speedometer drive components may also need to be addressed.

How do you remove the speedometer to replace the bulbs on a Golf GTi?

depends on the year of the car. For a Mk2 Golf You need to remove the dash surround. you then just need to feed your hand round the back of the dials casing and unclip the speedo cable. It's tricky to get back in though but not impossible. good luck
