In WWII the us and other countries converted virtually ALL industry to the war. that's part of the reason why WWI and II are called world wars. after WWII the US has fought what are called Limited Wars- wars which domestic businesses are not greatly effected as in the World Wars. Most limited wars have no major draft(except Vietnam)that effected domestic life as well. women do not have to take place of men overseas and so on.
