How do you fix a car door handle?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To change an exterior door handle on a 92 Mustang, you'll need to take the interior door panel off, the only way to reach it is behind the interior door panel. Make sure the window is rolled all the way up, because if it is down, it's impossible to get to. The only thing I'm not sure of, is I don't know if Ford riveted or bolted in the handles from the factory. Luckily when I changed mine, they were bolted in. After you remove the interior panel, you'll have to pull the post out of the clip that connects the door handle to the latch. Don't pull the post out of the clip at the latch, pull the post out of the clip up at the handle. Then, if it is bolted in, remove 2 nuts that hold the handle in place. If the handle is riveted in, you're going to have to attempt to drill out the rivets. After that is done, remove the handle, install the new one. Your new handles will be a bolt in. So, just tighten the nuts on the bolts, replace the post into the clip at the door handle, install the door panel and you're done!

Where is the cooling fan relay on a Kia Sedona?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have a 2005 Kia Sportage and the fan relay is located behind the motor blower, mounted on a small bracket under the passenger side console.

It sure is! It can be knocked lose by a passenger's foot. With the fan on (and the car) tighten it. If that doesn't work you may need a new one.

Where's the starter on a 2004 Kia Sedona?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depending on your engine which I'm gonna take a long shot and say you have the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder. It is on the front of the transmission. Must take exhaust manifold heat shield off and you will see starter under exhaust manifold EDIT: To add to the above, concerning the 2.7 liter model, it is also at the front of the car. Get on the ground at the front of the car and put your head at the center line of the vehicle. Now, scoot underneath the car about a foot and look up, just to the right of center-line (be sure the car is not running and the car is in park--- of course). You will see an aluminum shield about the size of a pie pan, in the shape of a square. This is a protective shield which protects the starter. Get a small socket and ratchet and remove the two bolts holding the heat shield on. Once the bolts are off, the heat shield should move freely. You might not be able to remove it completely, but you can slide it toward the exhaust and out of the way. Once the shield is out of the way, you will see your starter. This answer also applies to the 2002 Kia Optima with the 2.7 L engine and may apply to other models also. I have no idea why it is so difficult to find such data for the Kia Optima. STARTER DOESN'T TURN OVER -- DOES NOTHING

2001 and 2002 Kias have an interesting problem with starters. When the starter starts to get old, you may find that nothing happens when you turn your key over (No cranking sound at all... no ticking, etc.). If your lights work fine but your starter does nothing when you turn the key, your starter may be on its last leg. You may be able to get it to turn over, though, if you remove the starer heat shield (as described above) and whack the starter a few times with a small hammer. Kia mechanics and Kia Optima owners are well aware of this problem with the starter on the Kia Optima in this year range. If this is the case with your starter, you should replace the starter as soon as you are able as the problem will continue to worsen and may eventually leave you stranded and banging on it may fail to work.

How do change front turn signal on a 2008 Kia sedona?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the turn signal housing is the 2007 van, there is a small gray tab on the fender side just inside the black housing. You can take a flat head screw driver and gently push the tab towards the front of the grill. The whole assembly should now hinge forward toward the bumper and easily come out. Twist out the appropriate bulb sockects and replace the bulbs (3157 for turn signals and 194 for marker lights). Reverse the procedure and the housing should just 'click' back in. hope that helps

Where is the fuse box on the Kia Sedona 2006?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In the User Manual it would be under Engine Compartment (They don't list Fuse Box in the Index as that would be too easy) Normally it would be located to the right of the battery for both petrol and diesel. They don't list what is what in the manual,so I have to presume it is on the box itself although I have not checked.

What is the purpose of shop manual?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The shop manual gives more specifics on how to repair the vehicle correctly and includes correct capacities, torque specifications, wiring diagrams, procedural notes, and even estimated times for repairs. Without one, you may be repairing your vehicle the hard way, by guessing...... If you end up with 'extra parts' at the end of the repair, then you definitely needed a shop manual.....

Would it ruin the engine on 2003 Kia Sedona if timing belt broke?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Once there were no timing belts, there were only internal timing metal chains and the owner would never even have to know about it. Then, external timing belts were introduced which are built of special plastics. A timing belt or timing chain allows the engines's valves to close and open at the proper time meaning they are syncronized. If such syncronization is not achieved it could happen that the piston in its upward trust could hit a valve that is open and should be closed breaking metal parts which in turn would fall into the running engine and cause havoc and destruction. Timing belts are built to last only a certain number of miles (many are built to be changed at 20000 miles). If the manufacturer's limit is surpassed, the belt may fail and break with catastrophic effects on the engine. The timing belt's life depends on the manufacturer's specifications thus the car manufacturer's manual will state the number of miles after which it needs to be changed.

Miles per gallon does a 2003 Kia Sedona get?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I get about 34 mph on my 2003 Sedonna Auto

I would like to know how is your driving habit, because 34mpg is almost impossible for a 4700lb+ van, even the latest van can't even beat 30mpg on fwy only. I got 16-18 if mostly city driving, 20-21 if mostly fwy driving.

34 is impossible for me, a trip of 300miles without AC on will get me around 21-22mpg, a city & hwy mix will get about 16-18mpg. Are you sure you get 34?

Why is the alternator light on in your 2002 Kia Sedona?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The charging system is not producing enough amps as required. Which means either the battery or alternator needs to be replaced.

The 2002 & 2003 has problem with their alternator, the pully of the alternator is too big so the rpm is not fast enough to charge the battery, especially if you drive a lot, or local street only. I think since 2004, they change to a alternator with smaller pully. If you plan to replace it yourself, make sure you search online before you start. you have to get all parts before you start, a new alternator (most likely with smaller pully), that mean you'll need a shorter belt. When i bought it, it wasn't in stock. The long bolt that hold the alternator is not easy to remove, you will need to jack up the engine to certain degree to remove the bolt, you will need to remove the radiator, hoses, clip for hoses, engine cover, engine mount. MFG will remove the AC line but I was able to remove the alternator without remove the AC line so i can save lot of money for freon. Prepare to spend a whole day or possibly 2 days or move depend how handy you are.

Oil capasity in Kia Sedona?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

30 Gallon in US models

answer

2010 kia sedona can store maximum of 21.1 gallons

-------------------------------------------------------------------

That's a great answer for fuel capacity, however the question is regarding oil capacity. It's not clear what size engine you have or what year, so let's take a guess that it's a 3.8 liter engine from 2006+. It can take up to 6 quarts if you're doing a full drain and replace, including the oil filter.

From the KIA online shop manual:

OIL LUBRICANTS CAPACITIESDescription for 3.8 engine

Oil pan5.5 (5.81, 4.84)Oil filter0.4 (0.42, 0.35)Drain and refill5.2 (5.49, 4.58)Total6.4 (6.76, 5.63)

Can an automatic AE86 Corolla be changed to stick and if so how much would it cost to change it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The conversion should be pretty simple if you are mechanically minded(even a little knowledge will do).Find a wrecker or look for an 86 that is being dismantled privately, take a camera and photograph such things as pedal positioning/mounting etc. Location of gearbox and mountings etc. Buy these parts and use your pics as reference or better yet go to Toyota and buy an ae86 repair and service manual. This reference will give you an even better understanding of how to fit thew parts for this application. Check out online auctions like EBAY for parts if you cant find what you are after. The best way to do anything is to do it yourself. If you can remove the parts yourself you'll have a better understanding of how to install them into your own car.Off the top of my head you will need:

  1. T50 gearbox and bellhousing
  2. Driveshaft from a manual version
  3. Clutch kit and flywheel
  4. Scatterplate
  5. Slave cylinder and possibly the speedo cable
  6. Clutch pedal
  7. Gearbox mounts. All these parts will bolt straight on.

Has this put you off, if not .
