Most people who've seen him in real life say he's not that overweight, and that he looks much better. He always looks remarkably better on talk shows. On Boston Legal they seem to film him using unflattering light and camera angels. That can make people look pretty bad. Also, he says he doesn't have time to exercise when filming this show, plus they always have a lot of rich food around. When he's filming a movie, he has much more time to exercise. Plus, he is almost 50 years old. But he still looks cute on talk shows I think. I've read a lot of stuff about him because I'm a big fan! All who know him says he's very nice in real life! I think he's super sexy when he's thinner! Thank you for this contribution. This is an interesting question, as I also have noticed that James Spader is quite rigid in his movements or gross motor skills (on Boston Legal) and have wondered if this is the intent of a character portrayal, or if there is a health issue limiting his actual functioning. However, unless someone else has the information or has researched and found the information, I know of no mention of it. If there is no mention of it, and if there is a medical condition, it is most likely considered private, confidential, and employers as well as reporters have respected this privacy. Wonderful! The term Black Irish was a term of abuse of poor Irish immigrants in the latter half of the nineteenth-century. It refers to the necessity of many of these immigrants taking menial jobs perceived by whites in the USA to be the preserve of Negroes (Blacks). It came about as a result of English/Protestant prejudices imported to the USA by the early colonists who saw the Irish as uncivilised and Catholicism as anti-everything for which Protestantism stood - freedom, democracy, capitalism etc. etc..

The Irish community has been a big part of Boston for more than one hundred years. Early Irish immigrants found working for the state/city benefitted them. They passed this belief along to their children. But also, and perhaps more important, Irish people have always stuck together, so finding a common ground, such as Catholicism or generations of family members in the same line of work, is deemed important.

The Irish in Boston lived in the poor parts of the city, and took the lowest paying jobs. Policemen were traditionally not paid well, but the work was regular, and better than many laborers positions. When the Boston Police went on strike in 1919, the starting pay had not changed for decades. Under those conditions, it was natural for the Irish to seek out police work. As late as the early post-war years of the 20th century, a streetcar sweeper earned more than a police patrolman.

I've been attending AU for over 2 years now and absolutely love it!! I completed my B.A. here and am now 10 months away from my masters degree in organizational management. This is a great school and they work well with working individuals. They are known as one of the most military friendly schools out there. They are regionally accredited, which sets the golden standard for all colleges. There are great to bad reviews, but don't let the bad ones get to you, people like to bash schools they have had bad experiences with even though it is, most of the time, their fault. Take it for me, I've been to the traditional brick and mortar school and online school. Online is my route and do not regret it at all. By the way, I'm getting ready to be promoted at work because of this school.

Angry and frustrated at a new tax on tea, American colonists calling themselves the Sons of Liberty and disguised as Mohawk Native Americans boarded three British ships (the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver) and dumped 342 whole crates of British tea into Boston harbor on December 16, 1773.
