How do you shut off service engine light on a Buick Century?

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to "Run." Don't start the engine.

Press down slowly and fully on the gas pedal, then release it. Do this three times in five seconds.

Watch for the "Service Engine Soon" light to start blinking. This indicates that the system is resetting itself. Turn the ignition to "Off" and wait one minute.

Start the Century's engine. The Service Engine Soon light will flash for a moment, then turn off. If it doesn't do this, repeat the process.

if all else fails...

Disconnect your battery for one minute and then reconnect it again that should reset it, if the problem that you have in your car is still there then that light will come on again after whille then you gona need to run diagnostics on your car to find the problem if it will not come on again then that should take care of it.

Let me tell you about my experience with my 1995 Buick Century.

When my buick sits for a while while running, the radiator fan comes on, you know?

Well, after the fan does its thing, SOMETIMES the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light comes on.

THEN.....when this happens again, it may take a couple times of after the fan comes on, then....the light goes off !!!

Its like it needs to go thru some sort of "CYCLE" , THEN THE LIGHT GOES OFF...

Who knows though,

you may have LEGITIMATE problems with your car.

good luck.

How do you remove door mirror on 2001 buick century?

On the door you will see a little cover where you place your hand to close the door. Pry the cover off with a flat screwdriver and you will find two 10 MM bolts. Remove those bolts along with a black screw where the knob is to open the door from the inside. You then pull the whole inside door panel off by hand, it has a bunch of plastic snaps. Guide it off the handle. Unplug all of the wire harness. Pull off the clear plastic cover carefully leaving the tar substance. You will see three screw holding the mirror on.

Replace stereo in 1993 Buick century?

First start by finding online somewhere the wiring diagram for the 93 Century you have. Should not be that hard, just run a Google search, that's what i did. It makes it alot easier to know what colors on the wiring harness you will need to switch. Next, start by removing the connector gives you the error codes. It will make it easier, its right underneath your feet when you drive. Two bolts for that, easy. Next, start by the parking brake pedal and remove the "underdash" i guess you would call it. You would do this by removing the bolts holding it up to the frame. Keep moving right and the last bolt should be no farther near the ashtray. From what I remember, it is the only screw that is covered up. Just take a flat head screwdriver to pop off the thing that is covering up the last bolt. Once you have that off remove the cable connected to the ashtray that is powering the ashtray light, and cigarette lighter. Then, look at the wooden trim. Above you should see four screws holding that up. Remove them using a Phillips screwdriver. Once you have that off you can now completely see (or should be able to see) how the radio is mounted to the car. Remove the cover to the right of the radio that is holding the rocker switches for the map light and rear defroggers with a flat head screwdriver by prying it out. Should be 4 bolts (i think) holding it up. However many there are just remove them. Remove the brackets from the radio and the wiring harness/antenna wire. Make sure you have all the connectors for the new radio and place the brackets on that new radio and just go backwards. Try to remember where all the screws/bolts came from. I preformed this surgery on my 1996 Buick Century a year ago and I had one extra screw. Took us about 3 hrs, but then again we had no help.

What is the firing order for a 1994 Buick Century?

The firing order for the 3100 SFI V6 (VIN code "M") engine is 1-2-3-4-5-6. The source for this information is the original service manual, page 6A5B-52.

The firing order for the 2.2 Liter L4 (VIN code "4") engine is 1-3-4-2. Same source but page 6A2B-41

By-the-way, the ODD cylinders 1-3-5 are on the side of the engine closest to the firewall, with the number one cylinder closest to the passenger side of the vehicle and the number 5 cylinder closest to the driver's side. Obviously, the EVEN cylinders 2-4-6 are on the side of the engine closest to the front of the vehicle with the number 2 cylinder closest to the passenger side, and the number 6 cylinder closest to the driver's side.

Where is the oil filter located in a 1995 Mercedes SL500?

the oil filter cartridge is situated on the right hand side of the engine, towards the center of the motor. It's an aluminum cylinder with a hex bolt on the bottom. It is not a bare, typical looking oil filter, and you won't find anything that resembles one. Remember, this car takes a cartridge, not a screw on filter. The oil filter kit, which you should buy at a MB dealer, or foreign car part dealer usually comes with a large "O" ring, and a couple of copper washers. Make sure to clean the cartridge housing with solvent or carb cleaner. And, check the residue...you want to see if there are any metal shavings or anything that looks suspect. To drain the oil, I believe you will need a 13mm hex wrench (allen wrench). Do not over tighten this bolt since its threaded into an aluminum oil pan. You do not want to strip this bolt for obvious reasons. And remember...these engines hold about 8.5 qts of oil with filter exchange....not the typical 5qts most American cars hold. DO NOT PUT CHEAP OIL IN THIS ENGINE. If you have under 60,000 miles on it, you might want to consider a synthetic oil. Otherwise, use a brand name multi-grade. The extra cost is worth it.

Where is the oil dipstick located on a 1994 Buick Century?

When you open the hood you should see a yellow handle about two inches long directly in front of you. On the car that I looked at, it is just to the left of the farthest cylinder plug on the right.

How do you replace the Window motor on a 1992 Buick Century?

I wish I knew. I've removed the driver door panel, disconnecting the window and lock controls, replaced the broken inside door handle, punched and drilled out the rivets holding the motor to the door panel, after taping the window glass so it won't drop down inside the door, but I can't decipher the regulator and lift arm connections, and can't see what I might be getting into. Directions came with the new motor, they claim it's an easy job. Would be nice if they had a picture or two.

I've done this on both rear windows of mine. Front is probably similar. As stated above, remove door panel, peal back plastic inner liner. May have to remove some brackets and lock actuator linkage for additional room to reach through the inner opening in the door. As stated above, tape the window to the frame and remove the bolts holding the glass to the regulator and track. Remove the regulator, track and motor as a unit. They're held in with rivets that must be drilled and knocked off with a hammer and chisel. There are four: two at the top and bottom of the window track and two holding in the regulator. Disconnect the wire at the bottom of the motor and finagle the unit out the opening in the door. This may take some patience. Then drill out the smaller rivets holding the motor to the regulator. Replace all rivets with appropriately sized nuts and bolts.

Where is the oil filter located on 2005 Toyota Tundra V8?

I believe ALL Tundra V8 Models years 2000 thru 2005 have the oil filters in the same location. Therefore it is located on the drivers side front bottom of the engine. It cannot be seen without removing a very simple Plastic(4X2) or Metal(4X4) skid plate. Once the skid plate is removed (8-9 12mm bolts and two plastic push-pull buttons then slide toward the rear to unhook "watch your head") the filter it very visible and accessible. Remember when changing oil filters DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!!! once the new rubber gasket makes contact with its seat only turn 1/2 to 3/4 turn more and never use a wrench. Good Luck!
