To remove the heater core in a 1995 Buick Skylark, you will first have to disconnect the negative battery cable. Next you need to drain and recycle the engine coolant, you will remove the rear lateral trans-axle strut mount, take off the drain tube, then disconnect the heater hoses from the core tube, and removed console if needed. Lastly you will remove the sound insulators, console extensions or steering filler if needed.

If the fan turns on, it could be a short to power (two power wires shorted together) causing the increase in amperage. If the fan doesn't turn on, it's probably a short to ground after the switch in the circuit; where power is bypassing the intended path, which is the blower.

It is easiest to remove the thermostat and drain the radiator by removing the lower hose. Dispose of the coolant properly. reinstall the lower hose and run water from the garden hose through the engine with it idleing until it runs clear. Then remove the lower hose to drain the radiator and reinstall the thermostat with the spring toward the engine. Then fill the radiator with coolant and start the engine up and top off the radiator after the thermostat opens. You should end up with about a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. Good Luck Joe

I have a 1995 Bonneville that did the same thing. Your problem is you have a bad crank angle sensor. When you run your car on the computer it will not show up, but that's what your problem is. I took mine to the dealership and it was replace, cost about $230, and it has not happened since. Been about two years since replaced.

On a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder - disassemble the timing chain cover. Put a jack in front of motor to support it. After that, disassemble the front motor mount support. After timing chain cover and motor mount are out of the way, rotate the motor to where the alignment marks are lined up. (Refer to Chilton's manual) At this point, look on the left bottom portion of the timing chain (this is below the twin cams), you'll see what looks like an idler gear towards rear of car. This is the water pump. Disassemble it from under car.
