The oil pump is mounted to engine motor and is located to right front side (in this transverse mounted engine application). The replacement oil pump is Sealed Power #22443573.

Try a Auto Salvage yard an you might get lucky. Might find one on Ebay. You can also just buy a generic one and use it.

If it's the same as my 1990 Skylark, the oil filter is located up inside of the oil pan. There should be a circular plate with a large nut in the middle of the bottom of the oil pan. Remove it (after removing the oil plug and draining the oil). When you remove the plate, some oil will run out, so make sure you are prepared. You will see the bottom of the filter. It has a little nipple in the middle of it which you are supposed to be able to grab with a pair of pliers and pull down to remove the filter. I have never been able to do it that way. What I do is take a flat blade screw driver, gently wedge it up beside the filter, and then gently work the filter down and out of the oil pan. You may have to work on both sides of the filter to get it free. The filter will work it's way down and then suddenly come loose...so be ready! Hope this helps.

The 1997 Buick Skylark computer is located behind the passenger side dashboard. You will need to remove the passenger side kick plate in order to access the computer.

If it's the 3.1L motor, it's just below and to the right of the power steering pump. If it's a 2.4L QUAD4, it's on the backside of motor just underneath the exhaust manifold, very dumb location.

REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR ON THIS MODEL IS VERY EASY. TO START DISCONNECT THE BATTERY COMPLETLY. NEXT, REMOVE THE DRIVE BELT SIMPLY BY PRESSING DOWN ON THE TENSIONER. THERE ARE 3 NUTS AND 1 BOLT HOLDING THE ALTERNATOR DOWN. 2 NUTS BOLTING IT DOWN TO THE HEAD BOLTS, 1 NUT BOLTING IT DOWN TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND 1 BOLT CONNECTING IT TO THE POWER STEARING BRACKET. TAKE ALL 4 OUT. REMOVE THE 2 WIRES FROM THE ALTERNATOR. DONT LET THE POWER TOUCH METAL OR (*SPARKS*). NEXT TASK IS TO REMOVE ANY BRACKETRY FROM OLD ALTERNATOR. AFTER PURCHASING A NEW ALTERNATOR (WHICH I WOULD SUGGEST) BOLT BACK ON THE BRACKETRY THAT YOU TOOK OFF OF THE OLD ONE. THERE WILL BE A PIVOT BOLT ON THE ALTERNATOR THAT MAY BE DIFFICULT TO GET OFF. WHEN YOU PUT THIS BOLT BACK INTO THE NEW ALTERNATOR LEAVE IT LOOSE AS THIS WILL BE A WAY OF ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF ALTERNATOR. PUT ALTERNATOR BACK IN AS IT WAS TAKEN OUT. CONNECT THE 2 WIRES BACK IN. ADJUST AS NEED (WITH THE PIVOT BOLT). PUT ALL NUTS AND BOLTS BACK IN. PUT DRIVE BELT BACK ON ROUTING IT PROPERLY. MAKE SURE IT IS NICE AND SNUG. PUT BATTERY BACK IN AND START HER UP! GOOD LUCK.

Just follow that top hose leading to the engine. Remove that metal pipe attached. It's right there.

if it's anything like a 92 skylark you have to get the window down far enough (if the motor is dead you can usually turn it manually) to get to the two bolts that hold the window on. Remove the bolts and push the window up. It may have to be held there with some strong tape. if you see bolts holding the motor in then great! remove the motor and the actuator in one piece. If there are rivets then you need to drill out these rivets with a drill not much bigger than the inside part of the rivet.( don't worry the new motor will come with bolts). very carefully switch out the motors on the actuator making sure to have it in the same position. Also, the motor might be riveted to the actuator so the same thing applies to this as well.then replace the motor and actuator then reattach window. on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the hardest i would rate this a six.

Maybe that ticking sound is the ignition key switch in the steering wheel column failing to make enough contact to switch on. Also, it's possible your starter is shot. Obviously make sure that your battery is in good shape.

There may be something wrong with the accelerator. It might be time to get the vehicle checked out to ensure nothing is wrong.

If it's like the earlier Skylarks (before the re-design in '96), you have to take the back seat out, which is a royal pain. What I did when I changed mine is crawl into the trunk with some pliers and unscrew the screws upwards and remove the speakers that way. I used #10 screws and locknuts to put new ones in and it worked. I sure would like to know who designs these things.

Yes, If the skylark in question came with a 2.4L. In which I belive it did. But if it came with something else,the wire harness wont reach/connect to where it is suppose to go, exhaust wont connect, computer will have different software, and many more problems....

The first thing you have to have is the key. Without it you cannot release the spring loaded lock the front side of the ignition switch. After you remove the plastic cover of the steering column, you have to revove the metal clip right under where the key goes in. after that there is a metal plate held on by two torx screws. This plate is in on the front side of the ignition switch, it holds in a small plastic clip that is holding the other side of the switch. I pulled this clip all the way out, but you may be able to get it out far enough to remove the switch without taking off the metal plate. If not, you will need to remove the two screws, the metal plate, and then the plastic clip. After that, turn the key, use a Allen wrench to depress the spring loaded lock, you may have to mess with the position of the key to get it in the right place. When you do get the spring loaded lock to depress, the switch will come right out.

Disconnect the Skylark's battery. Remove the starter's wiring then unbolt the starter. Slide the starter out. Wiggle the new starter back into the hole, and bolt up. Connect the wiring, then reconnect the battery.

Should be located ina removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator
Remove this housing
Note how thermostat is installed
Clean both surfaces
Replace thermostat and gasket
Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock
Start engine and look for leaks
Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on
Re-check coolant level

There's a plastic ring around the bulb you can remove and then twist out the base holding the bulb. Then change the bulb and twist it back in followed by the retainer ring. It's really simple (for a change). The rear spark plugs are a different story.

Look at the coolant tank and toward the front there is a plug the connects to a sensor at the bottom of the tank. There is a float in there that will stick to the bottom even with the correct amount of coolant. I used a rubber mallet to tap the tank and got the sensor to free up. Good luck.
