Why would a 1997 Cadillac Catera stall when slowing down in traffic 5-10 minutes into the drive then restart immediately and drive fine after that?

There are several porbably reasons: 1.Bad fuel filter 2.Bad spark plugs 3.Dirty fuel injector 4.Bad fuel pump 5.(the worst and unfortunately very common) Bad coil

all of these things are good but this is what we did on our 2000 Catera Same Problem the engine would stop after about 20 minutes of driving, we replaced the Crank Shaft sensor and it runs fine now, the reason is the wire coming from the sensor runs along the exhaust pipes when the wire heats up it loses its connectivity and will shut the engine off until the wire cools down about 15 to 20 minutes later then starts back up and runs fine until the wire gets to hot again. If this doesn't fix the problem then the next thing to replace is the Cam Sensor. We didn't need to replace it though, Jim

Where is location of secondary air injection check valve for 1999 Cadillac Catera?

There are two check valves for the Catera. One is plastic, one is aluminum. They are located in between the front of the engine and the radiator. The plastic one is a little closer to the hood and has a small vacuum line coming off of it. The aluminum one is pyramid shaped and threaded into a small "redbull" sized canister. Both are towards the drivers side of the car. There is a hose coming off the aluminum one going to the plastic one, and then a hose goes from the plastic one down to the SAI pump which is located underneath the drivers side headlight. You can see the pump from under the car, it is nestled in with the horns behind the bumper.

How do you bypass the brake light switch on a 1998 Cadillac Catera?

If your attempting to install a DVD player (in dash) in your car and need to bypass the brake light wire in order to be able to play it while driving its not too difficult. the brake light wire goes hot when the brake is applyied (to power the brake light itself) the DVD player uses this wire to know when the brake light is on or off based on if the wire is "hot" or not. simply splice the wire into a constant power source like the main power wire to your in dash unit.

Cadillac catera vents don't work on floor?

Not sure of the correct name of the motor but there are two located on each side of the center console. The drivers side is in behind the cover panel near the gas pedal, has an electrical connector and a flat plastic "rod" that goes up underneath the dash area. You can pop off the plastic rod at the motor and activate the rod up and down. With the heater on, move the rod up and down. This opens and closes a vent door. See if this is your problem.

I used a potato chip bag "clip" to secure the rod to the cover panel until i can find the motor online or at a "pull-a-part".

Hope this helps, Mick
