On my '97 Tahoe the owners manual has detailed instructions on how to reset the compass. This of course will only work with a compass mirror that has power. So does the mirror display directions but just incorrect or is there no display indicating that there is no power? The former can be cleared by selecting the region and driving around in circles a few times; the latter will require a little wire chasing or that you have a defective mirror module.

GM vehicles do not use inertia/reset switches.

first don't remove your stock stereo if u havn"t already. The radio works with the carscomputer to reset codes and other stuff. you can get an adapter that turns your speaker wire on the back of the radio into left and right channel to hook up to an aftermarket amplifier. then hook up your new speakers and sub woofer to the amp and use the stock radio to get your grove on. or install an after market radio in the glove box or middle console but don't remove the stock radio. get rid of the stock amp not powerful enough.

The throttle position sensor is on the back of the carberator. Held in with two star bolts. Unscrew them and put your new sensor into place. Note the position of the old sensor. very tight space. little room to work. but its managable without removing any other parts.

This Cadillac has one fuse box under the rear seat and one in the engine compartment next to the powersteering fill tank. Consult your owners manual for specific fuse locations.

Hey Randy==It is a bit of a job to change it and you have to raise the engine slightly. Get a manual on it from a parts store and it should have pictures and everything. GodluckJoe

Randy....I assume it is a 4.6 northstar and these are pretty easy with correct tool. The pump is on the rear(driver side) of engine toward the front. The airbox and intake tube are removed and you can now see clearly the thermostat /waterpump housing. Remove hoses and remove bolts from drive belt tensioner. Remove cover of housing.....I would replace thermostat at this time as well as chk. drive belt to replace if needed. With the cover off you can now see the impeller clearly. This is what is to be replaced and it requires a tool to turn it out of wedge flange as well as return new one to position with new O-ring in place. Your auto parts store may have one to loan or purchase. IT IS NEEDED to do this R&R correctly. Good luck*

I just changed mine on my 94 Deville and it was not too bad. It has the 4.9 liter. First, get a replacement pump. Please note the importance of not removing the two bolts holding the timing cover to the water pump inlet cover. They are to the right and below the pump. After draining the radiator, remove the strut-to-core support brace, the battery, and finally the coolant recovery tank. (note: horn has to be removed for the recovery tank to clear the A/C receiver/dryer) Then carefully feel around the pump and count all the fasteners. I actually layed the new pump in front of me while I worked. While the belt is still on the motor, loosen the 4 drive pulley bolts on the pump slightly but don't remove them yet. Now you can take note of the serpantine belt path and remove it from the car via a 1/2" drive ratchet on the tensioner. Next, remove the drive pulley you loosened earlier. Now remove all the bolts and nuts holding the pump on the timing cover. I believe I used a 1/4 drive 10mm, 15mm socket, and a T45 or T50 Torx wrench. After all are removed, carefully removed the pump via a putty scraper and a little force taking note not to damage the timing cover, as this will result in a leak. After removal, carefully clean the cover of any and all stuck gasket and wipe dry with a cloth. To prepare the new pump for installation, adhere the included gasket to the pump with liquid shellac gasket compound. This holds the gasket in place while you install the pump in the tight space. After coating the other side of the gasket and lining the pump up with the engine, start two bolts to hold it in place. Go ahead and force it in place and start and finger tighten all the remaining bolts and nots. Then torque in this sequence: Torx and 15mm headed bolts - 30ft lbs. The 7, 10 mm hex nuts - 5 ft lbs. The 7, hex head bolts - 5ft lbs. Next, install the pump pulley as tight as you can and then install the belt and final tighten the pullet bolts. All remaining steps are just the reverse order.

Pretty easy job to do. Remove the battery and windshield washer bottle. Disconect lower radiator hose and drain coolant. I found that easier than trying to loosen the petcock. Release belt from pulley, take out all of the bolts around the pump there are at least three different sizes including a couple torx head. Try and remember where they all go. Clean the gasket surface thoroughly put thin even coat high temp silicone on both surfaces of gasket replace gasket and pump. Installation is in reverse of removal. Add coolant. Your Done. I believe I got a great price from Northernautoparts.com for the pump.

there are little hidden screms like under the little ash trays and behind the lights you gotta pop those off and there should be screws there

Don't know if this works in a 99' but I have a 97'. You have reset the "oil life remaining" readout and this will reset "change oil" indicator. Scroll thru your various readouts (rpm's, water temp, battery volts, etc.) till you see it and then just press reset. Hope this works for you.

It is on the firewall under the dash at the passenger's feet. The mounting bracket is tucked under the carpet edge. It has a long mounting bracket which positions the relay with the prongs facing up. There is a three prong connector and a single prong connector. The relay is grounded via the mounting screws.

The part number is stamped on the mounting bracket 1602274. It is a single pole double throw (SPDT) relay. Since it is powered off a 20 amp fuse I assume it is rated at least 10 amps.

The pink wire is the power from the radio which energizes the coil to latch the relay. The orange is 12v+, green and black/white are up and down (can't remember which is which).

Mine just went bad. I've found new old stock replacements for around $125. Since I'm not looking to keep the car strictly original I plan to use a universal SPDT relay something like the Standard RY-73 (should cost around $15 to $25). Since it is tucked up under the dash I'm not worried about it looking factory original. I'll just have to make some short pigtails with spade connectors.
