The cooling fans have stoped on my 2002 Chevy Malibu how and what do I need to check?

to check fans to see if they run::first, disconnect fan wires at connections for fan. run a wire from positive on fan to positive on battery. then other wire to ground if nessesary. if fans are ok they will turn on. if fans are ok, then I would check for a bad fuse or relay, and the coolant temperature sensor on engine, the temp, sensor should be at or near the top radiator hose on end by housing.

If you run your Cadillac eldorado etc for 3500 rpm for 5 minutes and car gets hot is that a sign of a bad head gasket?

The Northstar is a good motor, but they do blow head gaskets some times. If the coolant is going above about 230 degrees, or if you are having problems keeping the coolant filled, it sounds like you need head gaskets. The problem is caused by old coolant corroding the head bolt threads out of the block, and the head bolts pull out, releasing the clamping force on the gaskets.

Have a garage check the coolant for exhaust gas - this is the best way to diagnose the problem.

How do you change the oil in a 1995 eldorado?

Ok, here's the long version. Purchase your oil filter and six (6) quarts of oil. My 1995 uses 10W30 and I am a Pennzoil guy. If you have more than 100,000 miles, go for the High Mileage oil. If has the additives you need. I suggest you buy an oil filter tool while at the store to make sure you get the right size. Jack the front of your eldo on the passenger side or drive the car up on ramps. Make sure it is secure. Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap. Crawl under the car and take your 14MM or 15mm socket and ratchet, your new oil filter and filter tool with you. Remove the oil drain plug located on the rear of the oil pan. Make sure you catch the oil in a drain pan to be disposed of properly. The oil filter is located underneath on the front of the engine. After the oil has drained completely from the oil pan, replace the drain plug. Make sure it is tight but be careful not to over tighten. Remove the oil filter. Hint: take a plastic bag you used to bring the supplies home to help capture the old filter and the oil that is prone to spill. Dip a finger in the old oil and lubicate the rubber o-ring attached to the top of the NEW oil filter. This helps the filter to seat and to be tightened properly. Hand Tighten the new filter in place and wipe up any spills. Remove the old oil, filter, and tools and exit to the top side. Using a funnel, pour five quarts of oil into the oil openning. Remove and wipe the end of the dip stick and reinsert into the dipstick tube. Remove the dipstick and read the level. It should be just under a quart low. Replace the oil cap and the dipstick. Lower the vehicle to it's normal position. If you had the car on ramps, you'll have to start the engine to get it down. At any rate once the car is lowered, start the engine and check for leaks underneath. If you have leaks, you'll need to tighten or repair the cause of the leak. If there are no leaks, shut off the engine and remove the dipstick to re-check the oil level. You will probably need to add the sixth quart to get the crankcase full. DO NOT OVER FILL. If you had no leaks and your dipstick still does not register full, give it a minute or two. It you overfill the crankcase, you will blow a gasket and begin a terrible leak. TRUST me on this one. Button up everything, clean the tools, and dispose of the old oil (recycle)properly. Don't be temped to use the old oil as fence edger. I hope this answers your question.

How much is a Cadillac eldorado now a days?

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1990 Cadillac Eldorado?

If it is simmilar to later models, you will find the filter along the drivers side, under the hood, and resting under the firewall of the dashboard. In other words, locate the master brake cylinder, and look directly down to the right. You will see the filter resting in a bracket with a flexible hose attached to it. The removal is a little tricky because it should be done from below for the hose coming in from the tank, (disconnect the negative battery). Jack the car on the drivers side for clearance, blocking tires and put in a catch device for jack failure. Scoot under and spray the connections with plenty of liquid wrench. The fittings are liable to be rusty and you don't want to brake that hose going in. Use two wrenches and work the connection, carefully until it opens. Have a pail ready for the runoff of the gas and don't do it in the sun. Next, you want to pull the filter out of it's holding bracket from the top of the engine. You don't have to remove the bracket, and working from the top is easier because you can get a better grip and line of sight on the top hose connection. Be careful wiht this hose as well, and lubricate the connection well with liquid wrench. This top hose should be a flexible hose. If not, you may have to get down in that opening, but I would be surprized if it wasn't. Reinstall in reverse and pay attention to the flow arrows or markings. Having had a lot of caddy's. you should replace the filters often. They get real dirty and will ruin your fuel pump as they get clogged. Changeing the fuel pump in the tank is a royal pain and should be avoided at all possible costs. The best way to prevent that is changeing the filter. I do it every third oil change, because I had to replace the fuel pump on my Seville and it wasn't a pleasurable experience. The motors on the fuel pump are tiny little nothings, so you can imagine it doesn't take much.

Where is the alternator in a 1996 Cadillac deville?

this is a bitc to get to but me & my wifes uncle knocked it out in bout 2 & half hours if your facing your grill of your caddy it on the very bottom front left of the car u will have to get under it to see it there is a small plate like 10 inches long *& three inches wide that u will have to unbolt to remove it because you can not remove it from the bottom there is no way to remove it from the top the only other way is to remove the radiator but i wouldn't do that.all of this only applies if you have a northstar... if you have a 4.9 its on top left along with your belts & crank pulleys good luck..also if it is your alternator going bad your alert system should be reading battery no charge
