What can be leaking coolant in my 2001 Cadillac eldorado northstar engine can't see a coolant leak but can smell it. Have to add coolant every two weeks.?

VEHICLE HAS A SWEET ODOR WHEN DRIVEN

A. check for an engine coolant leak caused by a seeping radiator cap, loose hose clamp, weeping cooling system seal, gasket or cooling system hose and replace or repair. B. check for a coolant leak from the radiator, coolant reservoir, heater control valve or under the dashboard from the heater core, and replace failed part. C. check the engine's exhaust for white smoke in addition to a sweet odor. Presence of white, steamy smoke with a sweet odor indicates coolant leaking into the combustion chamber. Possible causes include a failed head gasket, cracked engine block or cylinder head. Other symptoms include a white past build-up on the inside of the oil filler cap, and softened, deformed or bulging radiator hoses.

Where is the starter located in a 1993 Cadillac Eldorado?

It depends on the motor im not sure if the eldorado ever came with a 4.9 but i know on my eldorado it was underneath the intake manifold...which involves taking the fuelrail off and is not something i would recommend doing by yourself if your not a mechanic but if you do make sure you change the injector o rings because leaking after this is common and can lead to a bad motor fire

How do you hotwire 1993 Cadillac eldorado?

I lost my keys! I have to hot wire to get to the store.

How do you change the antifreeze on a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado What type of antifreeze do you use?

Drain the old antifreeze by opening the radiator drain on the drivers side at the bottom of the radiator. If it's dirty and gunky, you might want to have the radiator professionally "rodded", which cleans it to be as good as new or you could just pull the bottom radiator hose and run water as fast as you can through the radiator. After the water comes out pretty clean, pull the thermostat then run water through the engine to clean it too. Put it all back together, then put in the newer GM "permanent" antifreeze. It's kind of a gold color and doesn't look like the green ethylene glycol that we're all accustomed to.

Where is eldorado located?

It's a mythological place, so I guess the answer would be nowhere. It is known as the "Lost City of Gold." The Spanish spent a great amount of time searching for El Dorado in the 1500s but so far have never found anything.

What is powertrain control module?

In a vehicle, the term drivetrain or powertrain refers to the group of components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air. This includes the engine, transmission, driveshafts, differentials, and the final drive (drive wheels, caterpillar track, propeller, etc). Sometimes "powertrain" is used to refer to simply the engine and transmission, including the other components only if they are integral to the transmission.

A vehicle's driveline consists of the parts of the drivetrain excluding the engine and transmission. It is the portion of a vehicle, after the transmission, that changes depending on whether a vehicle is front wheel drive, four wheel drive, or rear wheel drive.

In a wider sense, the powertrain includes all components to transform chemical, physical or nuclear energy into secondary energy and deliver it to the interface to the outer world for propulsion purposes. This includes the utilisation of multiple power sources and non wheel based vehicles. From an energetic standpoint the weakest point is the first step: internal combustion engines have limitations regarding efficiency, but the "well to wheel" efficiency of alternative propulsion systems are not considered any better.[citation needed] This refers to fuel cells with additional reformer losses, electric vehicles powered from the grid with low hydraulic energy share and also vehicles using energy storage with high losses (some battery types, ultra- or supercaps).

[edit] Developments

Powertrain development for diesel engines involves the following trends: modular injection, electronic valve control (EVC), low pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and advanced combustion. Spark ignition technology has focused on de-throttling (in part load where the low efficiency of Otto engines is defined) and downsizing (lower displacement, EVC).[1]

Attention to new fuel qualities (no sulphur and aromates) allow new combustion concepts. These promise to combine clean combustion with high efficiency. So-called "combined combustion systems" (CCV) (Volkswagen, 2003) or "diesotto" cycles (Mercedes-Benz) are based on synthetic fuels (synthetic diesel, biomass to liquid (BTL) or gas to liquid (GTL)).[2]

The energy management inside the powertrain decoupling energy transformation and propulsion demand is in its infancy, especially in Europe. If acceleration is adapted automatically to follow minimal energy consumption and minimal environmental pollution, performance may suffer. The motor vehicle industry doubts that customers may adopt vehicles in which acceleration responsiveness is reduced. This type of riding has been called "de-emotionalization"

How do you replace a transmission filter and fluid on 1999 Cadillac Catera?

u have to drop the transmission pan and u will see the filter right in front of u i think its 3 bolts There is no fill on the transmission u have to fill it from the drain plug while the car is running they say! How do you check the error codes on a 1988 Cadillac?

on most 1988 Cadillacs, turn the key ON and on the climate control panel, hold both OFF and WARMER for a few seconds. The screen will flash up the codes as a series of letter + 3 number codes, indicating each as either CURRENT or HISTORY, ending with a menu entry (usually "ECM?"). To reset the codes, press the FAN-LO button to change the display until it reads "ECM?," then press FAN-HI; cycle with FAN-LO until you see ECM CLEAR CODES? and press FAN-HI again. Then tap the OFF button twice and cycle through the first menu with FAN-LO until it reads BCM? and hit FAN-HI; again, cycle with FAN-LO to BCM CLEAR CODES? and press FAN-HI. To exit the menus and restore normal displays, tap OFF until you reach the main menu, then tap OFF button 3-4 times rapidly. (Or, just turn off the key or start the motor, either will restore the display.)

on the diagnostic plug under the center of the dash, use a jumper wire to short the lower two right hand connectors together after the check engine light has come on and the car is running. the check engine light will then flash the codes as: flash flash flash pause flash flash flash flash long pause - would be a code 34, each code will flash 3 times before moving on to the next code and after the last code, will start over with first code. you will then have to look up the code to find the problem behind it
