Cadillac Eldorado

I had this problem with my Villager and continue to have it with my Quest. The Villager went back to the dealer who told me that there were no problems that they could find but it was a common problem with the Quest and Villager. When I need to use the fluid I press and release the switch until the pump kicks on and the fluid sprays. It's a pain but it always comes on after 30 secs. of working the switch. There is a really good Nissan mechanic on allexperts.com who answers 5 questions a day. Sometimes you may have to wait until midnight to get a question in. I also had this same problem with my 97 Quest. It turned out to be a combination of two issues. #1: Crud in the lines, had to use compressed air and a little bit of patience to blow out and rinse the lines a couple of times. # 2 the switch on the steering column as you already know is intermittent. Since I have other issues with the van that are higher on the priority list I've learned where the "sweet spot" is on the switch to get it to work. I simply press in on the switch ( like your supposed to) then gently twist back and forth as if your changing wiper speed until the washer pump energizes. hope this helps.

I just went through this problem and the fix was relatively easy.. but expensive. First make sure the fan motor is still good by running jumper wires to the fan motor plug .. positive on the right pole. If the fan turns on, it's probably the blower motor control module which is a small panel on the top of the blower box with two plugs on it's top. Remove the 3 screws, unplug the 2 cables and lift out the module. Install and reconnect the new module. I removed the negative battery terminal first to avoid any possible shorting. Next as an extra precaution I did a computer reset.

Reconnect the battery terminal, put the car in park with emergency brake on. Start the car and let it idle ..NO ACCELERATION for 15 minutes or when the engine temperature reaches 200. Next, put your foot down on the brake pedal and hold it for 3 minutes as the engine idles. Now, with your foot still on the brake, put the transmission in "Drive" and turn the A/C control to "auto". Let it run another 3 minutes, then shut the engine off and the car in "Park". When you restart the car the computer will be reset, and all your electronic information panel will be reset. Your gas "miles to go before empty" light should read "LO". After the car is driven a while the computer will update all the information

VEHICLE HAS A SWEET ODOR WHEN DRIVEN

A. check for an engine coolant leak caused by a seeping radiator cap, loose hose clamp, weeping cooling system seal, gasket or cooling system hose and replace or repair. B. check for a coolant leak from the radiator, coolant reservoir, heater control valve or under the dashboard from the heater core, and replace failed part. C. check the engine's exhaust for white smoke in addition to a sweet odor. Presence of white, steamy smoke with a sweet odor indicates coolant leaking into the combustion chamber. Possible causes include a failed head gasket, cracked engine block or cylinder head. Other symptoms include a white past build-up on the inside of the oil filler cap, and softened, deformed or bulging radiator hoses.

It depends on the motor im not sure if the eldorado ever came with a 4.9 but i know on my eldorado it was underneath the intake manifold...which involves taking the fuelrail off and is not something i would recommend doing by yourself if your not a mechanic but if you do make sure you change the injector o rings because leaking after this is common and can lead to a bad motor fire

Drain the old antifreeze by opening the radiator drain on the drivers side at the bottom of the radiator. If it's dirty and gunky, you might want to have the radiator professionally "rodded", which cleans it to be as good as new or you could just pull the bottom radiator hose and run water as fast as you can through the radiator. After the water comes out pretty clean, pull the thermostat then run water through the engine to clean it too. Put it all back together, then put in the newer GM "permanent" antifreeze. It's kind of a gold color and doesn't look like the green ethylene glycol that we're all accustomed to.

u have to drop the transmission pan and u will see the filter right in front of u i think its 3 bolts There is no fill on the transmission u have to fill it from the drain plug while the car is running they say! But what i did id got a fitting that i could screw into the drain hole and rand a hose down through the left side of the motor to the fitting and clamped the hose to the fitting and added 5 quarts I think call a dealer and they will tell u how many to put in it u do have to be quick about putting the drain plug on the switch

on most 1988 Cadillacs, turn the key ON and on the climate control panel, hold both OFF and WARMER for a few seconds. The screen will flash up the codes as a series of letter + 3 number codes, indicating each as either CURRENT or HISTORY, ending with a menu entry (usually "ECM?"). To reset the codes, press the FAN-LO button to change the display until it reads "ECM?," then press FAN-HI; cycle with FAN-LO until you see ECM CLEAR CODES? and press FAN-HI again. Then tap the OFF button twice and cycle through the first menu with FAN-LO until it reads BCM? and hit FAN-HI; again, cycle with FAN-LO to BCM CLEAR CODES? and press FAN-HI. To exit the menus and restore normal displays, tap OFF until you reach the main menu, then tap OFF button 3-4 times rapidly. (Or, just turn off the key or start the motor, either will restore the display.)

on the diagnostic plug under the center of the dash, use a jumper wire to short the lower two right hand connectors together after the check engine light has come on and the car is running. the check engine light will then flash the codes as: flash flash flash pause flash flash flash flash long pause - would be a code 34, each code will flash 3 times before moving on to the next code and after the last code, will start over with first code. you will then have to look up the code to find the problem behind it

Look in the trunk on the left side for the fuse box. That is where it is on my 95 Deville.

Buy a Haynes Repair Manual for your car(@ 25 bucks). You will have the required info to do the job.....
