It could be. Most cats do not like being the only cat in the house, especially if their owner is at work all day. Dogs are generally okay with just their owners for company, even if the owner is away all day, but cats really need constant companionship. If they are left alone all the time, they can develop behavioral problems. They can become skittish and a little crazy, and will keep you up at night with their hyperactive antics. Because you are away all day, the cat sleeps all day, so it can be awake with you at night. Unfortunately, you don't want to stay up all night long, playing with your cat, so the cat will run around the house all night, acting crazy.
