How do you replace a blower resistor on a 1998 Chevy cavalier?
This is a pretty simple fix. The GM part number for the Resistor is 52476725. Fits I believe 96-02 Chevrolet Cavaliers and Sunfire.
Step 1: locate the blower motor under the dash on the passenger side.
Step 2: To get to the resistor you need to remove the (3) screws holing up the blower.
Remove the screws. The blower will come down. Remove the electrical connector, and slide the blower out of the way. Clear out any debris that may be in it.
Step 3: The resistor is held up by (2) screws, (1) is easy to get to, the other is a bit tricky as you have to press back the rubber matting along the back firewall to get at it. Its a bit of a pain, but use a 1/2 in ratchet with an extension and you can get to it. Undo the screws, slide out the resistor. Pop it of, put the new one in.
Step 4: Reverse the above and your done. Its about a 20 minute job if you don't know what your doing.
Good Luck.

A 98 should be the same as a 99. The starter is located in front of the car, by the exhaust man.. There are two bolts holding it to the motor/trans. Once yu get the bolts out, you then have to loosen the bar at the bottom of the motor. I replaced mine in 10 mins. Very simple. When you go to buy a new starter, you need to know if it is a GM or import style starter.

What causes trouble code P0300 on a 1998 chevy cavalier?
P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire
Symptoms.
Engine may stumble or miss
Engine may be hard to start
you may notice no issues
Cause
Failing spark plugs or spark plug wires
Bad coil or coil pack
Failing oxygen sensor(s)
Bad fuel injector or more than one
Stuck exhaust valve
Bad catalytic converter
EGR valve or valve passage clogging
Bad camshaft position sensor
Bad PCM or ECM
The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.
