How does the alarm system on a 1977 Chevy Corvette work?
When turned on, by the door key in the left front fender or driver door lock, it will sound a horn alarm if the doors or hood are opened. The actual horn alarm is located either inside the driver side front or rear fender. Mine still works!
I removed the inside driver side door panel on my '77 and I found a wire burned apart laying in the bottom of the door. I spliced it back together and my alarm works again.
My alarm switch is in the drivers door key. Use the key to lock the car and it turns the system on.
Additionally, if you turn the system on and it trips right away, you have a short somewhere, most likely a bad door/hood/key switch.
Later C3s had a switch for each t-top, as criminals would either steal the tops or remove one and jump inside to hotwire the car without being noticed.

How to replace lt1 water pump?
i just got done doing this to my lt1,
1. remove the engine fans---4 10ml screws, one on each corner
2.remove all four radiator hoses
***note make sure to have a bucket underneath the car to catch the about 2 gallons of antifreeze that is about to spill out
3.then there will be 6 15ml bolts holding it on, remove those.
***note when you remove the water pump careful not to loose the small inch long sleeve that is on the water pump drive gear.
4.then remove the water pump from the bottom.

first of all the vapor separator is attached to the top left side of the fuel tank you have to drain gas tank 2nd disconnect battery 3rd lift rear of car with jackstand's this will allow sufficient room for the gas tank to be removed when the time come's.4th crawl under rear of car ,you will see spare tire compartment it need's to be removed once that is accomplished you will have a view of the gas tank there will be two strapps visable you will need a floor jack with you one with a a good size platform say 6by6 or larger so when you remove the two strapps the gas tank has something to sit on.Their will be hoses connected to the upper part of the tank so be very careful.Only allow the tank with help from the floor jack to lower just enough to remove anything attached to tank,then lower tank.

Yes, you have to remove the steering linkage under the oil pan and the flywheel cover. Also I think you have to turn the engine so you have maximum clearance from the crankshaft. You should then be able to remove all the oil pan bolts and work out pan.
