Chevy Vans

If you are not asking about panel trucks, the first van I remember is the 60 Corvan, there were many Chevy, Dodge and Ford vans in the 60's. They were the hot item then! I am surprised they did not become classic. Nobody cares for vans even from the eighties. There are several in my yard on blocks:)

It should be listed on a sticker near the fan shroud. My 1995 astro is supposed to be set at 0 degrees below top dead center. use a timing light to adjust the distributor accordingly. .

Check your alternator, diode could be bad Hello I am not a mechanic but had a similar problem with my f-150 -- had a lot of work done on it - computer replaced, new alternator, new battery. Finally I took it to a stereo place thinking that my alarm might be draining it. The master mind at that place located 2 fuse problems in under 30 mins -- one for a battery saver option on my truck and the other for the dome light. That was only $50 compared to the $800 I had already spent to not find the problem - so that might be something you want to try before wasting a lot of money like i did. good luck

I'm answering my own question for anyone who needs the info. My brother tells me that the Chevy 350 cu. in. engine is the same over several model years. This would make the torque specs the same for the 1979 350. 45 ft-lbs. for the connecting rod bolts and 65 for the cylinder head bolts. Convert to Nm (Newton-meters) on Google if necessary.

Engine diagrams can be used as guides when it comes times to making necessary changes. An engine diagram to a 1999 Chevy Astro Van can be found in its maintenance and repair manuals.

The obvious answer is the additional trunk space behind the back row of seats. Also a longer wheel base and a larger gas tank (5 gallons larger, I think).

Hit the unlock button on your Remote unlocking thing ( Don't know the proper name, but it's The little device that attaches to your key ring and lets you lock and unlock the van remotely), then put the ignition key in the engine and turn to the Start position. The alarm SHOULD stop, but sometimes It takes a couple tries.

The weight varies on a Chevy conversion van. It depends on the make of the van. They usually weight around 400 pounds, or 2-2 1/2 tons.

There is not a cabin AC filter on a 2000 Chevy Cargo Van 2500. None of the full size Chevy vans have a cabin filter.

A 1995 Chevy Van with a 454 engine will have a spark plug gap of .060 inches. A difference of .005 (give or take) should not affect the engine's starting capabilities, however.

Usually the bottom sprocket has the dot on the top and the top sprocket has the dot on the bottom.

I did encounter one once that had both dots on the top, so be aware of that possibility when you are setting the valves.

If the engine is at #1TDC, both dots should be aligned, #1 cylinder would have both valves closed, #6 would have the exhaust valve open. If that's not what you see, rotate the crankshaft one turn and check again.

Check your local Library. It is free. They have lots of repair manuels.

I'm not aware of any oem application like that, but there are adapter manufacturers such as Advanced Adapters or similar that might be able to help.

It would make no sense. A properly built 4L60E or TH400 can handle more torque than the Allison is designed for, and is a lot lighter, too. An Allison 545 weighs almost 300 lbs. The Allison is also not designed to turn at the RPMs a gas V-8 can run at. It's designed for slow-revving diesels.
