• Step 1 is to be sure you get the correct-fitting replacement wiper blades. All 1985-2005 Chevy Astro Vans take 18" replacement windshield wiper blades on both sides front. The rear arm takes a 14" rear wiper blade.
• Step 2: As far as installation, the replacement wiper blades will come with simple-to-follow, step-by-step, illustrated removal and installation instructions, and once you have the instructions and the wiper blade/arm in your hands and in front of you, it will all make sense and will an easy maintenance task. The old ones simply snap-off and the new ones simply snap right back on. Very simple and takes 5-15 minutes usually not requiring any tools.

A blown fuse may be the reason a horn is not working in a Chevy van. It could also be caused by a faulty horn relay.

It is pretty easy but you can mess it up so get a manual on your truck from the parts store which will help on the next repair.

Added info: My manual was incorrect on how to get the fan off the water pump. I'm not sure if the 97 is the same as a 1999 and 2000, but I think it is. First thing is to take off the air filter "box"and radiator overflow tank. Then the plastic fan shroud. Then you should be able to get to everything. Your local auto parts store should have a special tool to hold the fan pully while you loosen the big nut that goes on the front of the water pump (look at the new water pump to determine if the threads are right or left hand threads so you know which way to turn the nut to loosen). Once you get the fan and clutch off the water pump, then it's pretty straight forward. One thing is you must have new gaskets when putting on the new water pump. These gaskets will want to fall off when you try to put the pump on (a real pain in the butt). Buy some of the gasket maker stuff that is made for waterpumps/theromostat housings and use on the gaskets to hold in place.

If it really is the switch itself which is leaking, then it cannot be fixed, and needs to be replaced. On the other hand, if the leak is at the threads where it screws into the block, then a fix that may work is to remove the swith, clean the threads on the switch, and in the block opening, wrap the switch threads with teflon plumber's tape, and replace the switch into the block, tightening it firmly. Your problem is being caused by the GM Passlock security system. It basically monitors your ignition keyswitch to determine if it has been turned without the proper key inserted. However, this system can begin to operate erratically as the vehicle ages (and the keylock cylinder has been turned numerous times). The owner's manual recommends calling GM roadside assistance for immediate help, or taking the vehicle to a GM dealer for repair. This system can be (and must be) overriden when installing a "remote start" system on your car. I know folks who have purchased the override module just for the purpose of removing the security feature due to its erratic operation.

read up on the system and check all the basics... everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the local library should have a SHOP manual available in the reference section--make copies of the right info and read up..you'll be a pro in no time ...good luck:)

Another answer: Many auto parts stores carry Haynes manuals for most cars ($10-$15). I've found them invaluable when working on my own cars. The Haynes manuals cover almost everything you can do on your car, to include wiring diagrams, diagnostic codes (and how to read them), regular maintenance, brakes, emissions, all the way to engine overhaul.

You may need to check the flex-plate where the starter makes contact to the ring. If it's damaged or worn you'll need to replace the flex plate.

Your fuse box is linked by a power source. The power source cable goes directly to the battery. Check the power source cable to make sure it is connected properly.
