after install a new compass in my chevy venture how to reset it?

you are getting into the years where the 3400 received various upgrades, i believe the most major of which is the camshaft and valve timing. don't take it to the bank but i don't believe the swap will work without major work. don't ask a salvage yard because they will flat out tell you no. i have done motor swaps like these in the past and currently doing a motor swap for a Montana of the same year. i have used a motor from a 2001 grand am and swapped it into a 1997 venture with a few changeovers, the biggest being changing the injection rail and the coolant crossover pipes. hollander interchange told me that the swap i did above would not work period. i would check around on the internet to see the difference between the later model engine and the bad one you currently have. there is a difference but i cannot tell you if it was 03 or 04 that the motor received the upgrades. if the valve timing remains the same, compression is the same, if the core engine remains the same then the swap can be done.

The original Tire size for a 1998 Chevrolet Venture Van is P215/70R15 and the tires had a "S" speed rating. The original rim is a 15X6J. This information was taken off the manufacturers door sticker on our van.

DO you own the vehicle owners manual? This procedure is inside the owners manual. ( page 6-15) But this is the steps (as listed in the owners manual)--- HOW TO RESET THE CHANGE ENGINE OIL MESSAGE 1. with the ignition key in run but the engine off, fully push and release the accelerator pedal slowly three to five times within five second. 2. turn the key to off. (if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL) message comes back on, the engine oil life monitor has not reset - repeat the procedure...

The blower fans on these cars run very quietly on all but the maximum setting- ensure that the fan is really not working first by holding your hand in front of the vent with the fan on low and checking that is it not moving any air. Replace the resistor pack.

intermittent OBD code fault. typically EGR fault will cause light to flash as valve opens and closes continually in reponse to changing throttle position and vehicle speed.

They tend to do this if a door is not closed all the way. Check all doors. I have had this happen when my side door or rear hatch was not not closed all the way. Just open and close the doors. If it still continues, check the sensors on the doors.

The blower resistor is located under the dash, near the floor, on the passenger side of the vehicle. I had to replace the resistor about a year ago. It is not an easy place to work in. You have to remove the blower unit in order to get at the resistor. Not fun, but rewarding when you actually do it yourself.

There are two methods of changing control arm bushings. One method involves removing the damaged bushing arms and pressing out the bad units. When doing so it may be best to replace the bushings of both sides of the car. Since the control arm has been removed anyway and if the vehicle is of mileage it also may be the best opportunity to replace the ball joints. The second method would be purchasing a complete control arm assembly with new bushings and ball joints already installed.

check for leaks, usually wet in the interior front. do or have a pressure test done on the system, use the color dye to identify the location. If that is not the problem then that leave 2 more to try. the problem may be in the venting of the air. sometimes the vent controls don't work.(redirect the air) They can get stuck. they have three main methods of control. electical, mechanical, or vaccum. that is what i can think of for the minute. hope it helps. duboff it will leak fluid. however they can become plugged if you have failed to change your antifreeze for a long time. this would restricting the flow throw it. If your radiator is gummed up odds are the heater core is also... only check while the engines cold!

The thermostat was installed backwards - this prevents any coolant from getting to the heater core.

Take it out, flip it over and all should be warm and toasty.

When I took my car to the dealership, they said that a flush and fill would cost $79.00 plus tax and would include the heater core flush. However, when they later determined that the heater core was "restricted," they wanted to charge me double.

The diagram shows proper routing of the serpentine belt. Open your hood and look on the support in front of your radiator or look on the bottom of hood for the diagram.

Mine too! Seems to be a common problem. There are usually small cracks at the top close to the seams that let water trickle in, but not out. If your lenses are cloudy, you can either purchase a refinishing polishing system from 3M or Meguire's. You can find new replacement housings reasonable on EBay or you can drill a 1/16 hole in the bottom inside corner to let the water drain. I've had them fill up enough that it blew out the bulb. Not fun digging out tiny fragments of glass out of housings............good luck

The thermostat is located on the driver's side of the engine. The thermostat and thermostat housing is mounted on the lower intake manifold. You should be able to follow the radiator hose up to the housing. It is a little hard to see however. Mike
