How do you change the battery on a Chevy Ventura van?
You have to remove a number of items to get to the battery. Under the hood first remove the top cover that's hooked on with clips near the windshield of the vehicle. Just pull it straight up all along its length until it comes off. You will see a Hugh circular cross bar with two bolts top and bottom that hold things in. Turn off both bolts and remove the bar. The fuse box is also hooked to this bar. Place it to the side. There also may be two other bolts near the front top that you also have to take off to get clear access to the battery. Once all this is out the way, you need a long about 6 inch extension for your socked set. There is a bolt holding the batter down in the back of the battery at its bottom center. Of course also take off the hot and cold screws of the battery cables.
What would cause antifreeze to leak into the engine oil?
Most likely a failed head gasket or a cracked or warped head. Less likely but possible is a crack in the block.
most common problem is the ( Transmission Control Solenoid ) . it controls the way the transmission shifts by controlling the amount of vacuum. when it malfunctions it shifts either very hard or seems to slip between shifts. also you will feel a pulsing sometimes when at or around 35 mph on flat ground. problem seems more pronounced after engine is completely warmed up. the part it's self is only about 26.00 dollars , not sure what they charge for labor as i replaced it myself. seemed to cure the problem.
if the equipment could not communicate with vehicle it is most likely because you have either a broken wire, bad computer or blown fuse. first thing to do would be to check all the fuses and make sure they have power on both sides. most of the time it is only a blown fuse which causes loss of power to the diagnostic port.
It shortens the life of your transmission by shifting in and out of gear to get the longest life you would leave it in drive at all times every time you shift in and out of gear you are putting pressure on the plates when going back in gear causing wear and tear also make shure you are completely stopped when going from forward to reverse for the best tranny life
I disagree. Long periods of idling while in gear & holding the brake, such as stop lights, trains etc. generates a LOT of excess heat, which is a Trannys worst enemy. Shifting into Neutral then back into gear is not all that hard on Trannys.
I don't believe the Engine is affected in either case.
there are plenty of possibilities but naturally I would start with the cheapest did you bleed your brakes at each caliper starting with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder. If so move on to your brake line connections is your banjo block cracked is the banjo bolt cracked did you forget to put washers on the banjo bolts if so you should see fluid leaking from around where the banjo block mounts to the caliper when you pump the pedal.if not you can try bleeding master cylinder if problem still persists you probably need a new master cylinder.

Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 2005 Chevy venture?
Hi,
The coolant temperature sensor is location very close to the thermostat itself, but that is hard to find or get to also. If you follow the top radiator hose back to the engine, you will see where the thermostat housing is, very close to the throttle body. There sensor is just forward of the thermostat housing.
I have included a link to a page with shows where to the bleed valves are located, and the bleed valve that is close to the thermostat is also very near the coolant temperature sensor. In on of the pictures you can see the wiring at the top of the sensor. It is a tight fit, but you can get in there.
Good Luck, Greg
P.S. The pictures in the link show a 2001 Venture, but the engines in these two different years are identical and the locations are the same.
How do you turn the oil light off on a Pontiac?
If your oil light came on, your engine is probably toast by now- a severe drop in oil pressure is required to turn that light on, and once that light comes on that means your engine was already running dry- chewing up the bearings and parts. Either that or you may have a faulty sensor and/or wiring to the sensor. If you think your engine had oil try replacing the sensor and cleaning the contacts. Rule #1 when it comes to any type of vehicle- if your oil light comes on, no matter where you are, no matter at what speed you're travelling - 60MPH on the freeway or parked at a red light- shut your engine off IMMEDIATELY if you're sure it won't cause a collision. Coast if you have to in neutral to an appropriate place to park but NEVER run your engine with that light on- it means $$$$ in severely costly and time consuming repairs ahead if you do. Hope this helps. By fixing the problem that has caused the light to come on. The light is on because you have low oil pressure. Low oil level, bad pump, incorrect or defective filter, or bad oil sending unit are causes.
Replace a wheel bearing on a 99 Chevy Venture?
The wheel bearings in the vans are "integrated" as part of the hub assembly. This is because of the wheel speed sensor, which are part of the Anti-lock Breaking System (ABS). In order to replace the bearings, you have to replace the entire hub assembly. These are not cheap, as a result of the included sensors. Sorry about that.
Good Luck, Greg A.

Who has fixed p0300 code on a 2003 Chevy 6.0L?
Well, honey, fixing a P0300 code on a 2003 Chevy 6.0L could be caused by a variety of issues such as spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, or even a vacuum leak. It's like playing detective trying to figure out which one is the culprit. Best bet is to get it checked out by a mechanic who knows their stuff before you start throwing parts at it like confetti at a party.
Why would a heater fan only work on high in a 1999 Mercury Mystique?
On the Mercury like a lot of other cars, what happens is the relay for the fan control goes bad, somtimes you may just have low and high no medium but a lot of the time you just get high speed, thie is also very common on a lot of GM's. There is a resistor pack located on the heater core housing just below the glove box. When this goes bad, the fan will only function on high. It's an easy repair. Just one screw and an electrical cnnection. it is called a blow motor resistor it cost about 20 bucks from the dealer itis easy to install just one screw and a plug

What grade of oil is best in your 5.3 liter Chevy engine?
What grade of oil is best in your 5.3 liter Chevy engine?"
Thermostats operate in a way so as to control (through their extensions) temperature about a selected setpoint. Some are fixed and some can have the setpoints selected. There must be some "sensor" in the device that will react to changes in temperature. The response of the "sensor" is used to direct intervention to affect control of the temperature. Wikipedia has a good post on the different types of thermostat and how they work. A link is provided.
