How do you fix front bumper 01 Chrysler sebring?

I was raised with the "Drive forward until your tires touch the curb, gently, as if touching an egg." training. As a result I have, more than once, put that low bumper, which makes no noise or resistance when it slides over curb, right over the top. You find this out when you back up and pull a portion of the bumper off. We knew I would likely do it again, so we use zip locks. It may not be professional, but it works. Do it again? You are only out a little time and more zip lock ties.

Why does your 1999 Chrysler sebring LXI V6 cuts off while driving?

you may have a problem with the fuel injectors i hade the same problem and it was the injectors so have some on check them

Or it could be your fuel pump. The wiring on top overheats and causes it to shut down the car. It was never a problem 'til I was at half a tank or less. CHrysler takes no responsibility and the Feds are not going to do anything until there is an accident. There is also a recall on certain replacement fuel pumps (which I found out about when they put a recalled replacement in for my repair).

How do you replace the headlight bulb on a sebring 2001?

I just did this today on the passenger side headlight of my 2001 sebring. It took some time to figure it out, but I got it done today. You do have to remove the headlight assembly to change the bulb.

Instructions:

1. Unscrew the 2 small bolts that hold the assembly on, they are above the headlight assembly near the corners of the headlight. There should be 2 larger bolts between the small bolts that don't need to be removed. On mine, 1 of the small bolts had "4.8" on it and the large bolts had "9.8" on them. The recommended tool is a socket wrench, but I was able to do it with a crescent wrench held vertically.

2. Pull headlight assembly out in the car's forward direction. On the edge of the blinker side of the headlight, near the vertical center of the headlight, there is a peg on the assembly that goes in a hole on the frame, preventing the assembly from sliding sideways until the peg is out of the hole. After that is out, you have to get the bottom lip of the assembly above the top of the fender, I found that this took some force to pull out, but I don't think I broke anything by using that force. Note that you can only pull this out so far because of the wires connected to it.

3. Unplug the wire socket from the old bulb. To do this you'll probably need a screwdriver or other long metal rod (I used the long bolt that was previously holding the assembly in place) to get the plastic hooks of the wire socket around the side of the block protruding from the top of the bulb housing. Once the plastic hooks are no longer hooked onto the block, you can slide the wire socket off, unplugging it.

4. Unscrew the ring with ridges on the outside (only requires 1/3 of a rotation max, then it is unlocked and pulls off). I found it difficult to hand turn but was eventually able to do it with just my hand.

5. Pull the old bulb out, it's pretty straightforward.

6. Put the new bulb in, it has 3 grooves on it that line up with 3 ridges on the bulb housing, and as I was told by the autoparts clerk, don't touch the bulb with bare hands because your skin oils will decrease its lifespan. I chose to wear rubber gloves for this step to avoid contact with the bulb.

7. Screw the ridged wheel back on to lock in the bulb.

8. Plug the wire socket into the new bulb, the plastic hooks should be locked around the protruding block. At this point you can test the headlights to see if the new bulb works.

9. Slide the headlight assembly back into place; I found that I had to put the peg in the hole first, then try to get the bottom lip of the assembly past the top of the fender, this took some force, and there were some sounds that gave me some concern, but I don't think anything was broken.

10. Screw the bolts back in.

Why might a 2002 Chrysler Sebring stall when idling in traffic?

AnswerI have a 2000 Sebring convertible JXI v6 2.5 L

It was stalling out even while driving at high speeds. I read of three possibilities for this problem.

1. Bad MAP sensor. I replaced this since it was the easiest and least expensive thing to do. It had little to no affect.

2. Bad Crank Position Sensor. This part was $60 and a pain in the butt to get to. I replaced it one month ago, have been driving the car every day, and the problem has not returned. (Hint: It is easier to see this part through the driver side wheel well. You'll need about a 2 foot extension to reach the single bolt holding this part in place and you'll have to remove the tire and plastic wheel well covers.)

3. Unplug the over drive connection from the top of the transmission. Never got to this one since # 2 worked.

How do you change the serpentine belt on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring?

for 2.5 v6on the 1997 2.5L V6 models there is a tensioner pully that is held on w/a bolt on the front of the pulley and adjusted with a bolt on the mount that is to the left of the pulley. be sure you don't have the spring loaded autotensioner because some models on the 1997 line had them. first you have to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner on. then the other bolt on the side of the pulley has to be loosened to relieve the tension on the belt. then just take the belt off and replace with a new one with it going on the right side of the alternator and the compressor pulleys the left side of of the tensioner pulley motor crankshaft pulley. when you start to tighten the belt you have to tighten the bolt that holds the pulley on till it holds it straight but not tight. then you tighten the adjuster bolt until the belt only flexes less than an inch in the area between the alternator and the crankshaft pulley. tighten the hold down bolt and start. listen for slippage when your transmission shifts when you are dogging the car out. if you hear a loud squealch when it shifts then the belt isn't tight enough.

on the 2.5L v6 model there is also a v-belt for the power steering pump which requires the removal of the serpentine belt for replacement.

How do you change the battery on a Chrysler Sebring?

Remove left front wheel. At the front of the wheel well there is an access door for the battery. Remove it by either turning the fasteners 1/4 turn or, if there are push fasteners, pop up the centers of the fasteners and then you can pull out the whole fastener. Disconnect the cables, then disconnect the battery hold-down and remove the battery. You may have to remove the battery heater blanket if there is one.

The owners manual claims that it is possible to remove the battery without removing the wheel, just turn the front wheels all the way to the right. Because of the cumbersome weight of the battery, you are probably better off giving yourself the extra working space by removing the wheel. Support the car properly with a jack stand. Don't rely on the car jack to hold up the car while you are wrestling around with the battery.

I just got done removing my battery from my sebring 2007 and it wasn't as bad as what I've read online. i didn't have to remove my tire at all, but it was a chore to get battery out! removing the splash guard was a pain "pull the tabs out before you pry them out, they have a slot on both sides to pry them out, which saves them". i must say the hardest part was getting the battery lock down bar back in place and secured. i thought my electronic throttle control was going out with what my display showed {car would just clicked when trying to start and wouldn't turn over, still had some life to battery?} but it was only a weak battery. i hope this helps anyone with this problem.

Why is your ignition fuse burning out on your 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI?

To fix this on my car I thought I needed a new starter but when I went to take the starter out the bolt holding the positive cable on the starter wasn't very tight so I thought maybe that's it. Well that was the problem so I took back the $160 starter and the fuse never blew again.

What is OBD code P0700 on a Chrysler?

How do you replace a tensioner for a 1996 Chrysler Sebring?

There are two bolts you must turn to remove the old tension pulley. The one on the pulley must be loosened in order to loosen the tension pulley. To the left of the pulley(looking from the passenger side of the vehicle) the tensioning bolt is situated at a right angle to the pulley bolt. It is pointing towards the rear of the vehicle.

There is an aluminum slug inside the mount point for the pulley. You may have trouble threading the bolt back into the slug once removed. It is possible but you may have to hold the slug steady with the tensioning bolt.

Be sure to keep the aluminum brace that goes on the outside of the pulley. It will be hard to find if you lose it. Once the bolt holding the tensioner is removed from the engine the parts simply slip apart. Be sure to reassemble them just like you dissasembled them.

Tighten the bolt to the point that the pulley can still be adjusted with the tensioning bolt. Tighten the tensioning bolt until the belt is tight to specifications. then be sure to tighten down the pulley bolt.
