How much should it cost to replace a distributor on a 1998 Chrysler Sebring 2.5L?
I just did it myself last weekend. The parts (Distributor, Cap, Rotor, and new spark plug wires) cost right around $300. I would add $600 to $700 in labor to that. So total right around $1,000.

How do you replace the rear ball joint on a 2001 Chrysler Sebring?
I just did this job on a 2005 Sebring. Not sure if the 2001 is the same or not, but if it is, you need to remove the control arm and have a shop remove the old ones and press in the news ones. Those things are pressed in there EXTREMELY tight. I tried to use a ball joint press on it while it was still in the car and it bent/ruined my ball joint press. Unfortunatley, removing the control arm is not easy either. The back part of the conrol are you have to drop the brace that connect the 2 subframes together, which there are brake lines attached etc... That job is a royal pain. If you can, just pay your local Chrysler dealer to fix it.
How do you adjust the throttle on a 1999 Chrysler sebring lxi?

2002 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 evap code and gas cap?
Every car made since 1996 has OBD-II.
Please read the "On-board Diagnostics" article on Wikipedia.
All cars with OBD-II perform a test of the evaporative emissions system regularly.
Gasoline evaporates, and if the vapors are not captured and used, they will escape into the air, which is harmful to the environment and human health.
If the gas cap is not tightened enough, the car will fail it's own test. (generally, you will hear and feel a clicking when the torque limiter in the gas cap engages, indicating the cap is adequately tightened)
My advice is to tighten the gas cap adequately, clear the code, which will turn off the "check engine" light. (if you do not have the proper scan tool to do this, the code can be cleared by disconnecting the negative battery cable overnight, however you will lose presets such as the radio station presets and clock time, also your car will have to re-learn the necessary fuel trim, so it may feel slightly 'different' for a few days.
Any cracked vapor hose between the tank and engine will also cause this code.
Check your codes I had a similar problem and it was solved buy replacing the MAP sensor

What must I do to fix a P1487 diagnostic code on a 1999 Chrysler Sebring?
This could be a few different things.
Check the cooling fan wiring, check for bad relays, check your coolant temperature sensor. I'd lean towards a bad coolant temp sensor, but the other 2 items I mentioned are free to check and not too hard!
How do you replace rear speakers sebring convertible?
In the early 1996-1998~ Sebring Convertibles with the speakers above the passenger armrest the grills are simply removed with a thin screwdriver or butter knife. the Phillips head screws are revealed once the grille is removed. The wire from the head unit clips directly into the speaker, you either pry up or push on the tab that is holding it and pull back. You may want to either clip the connector off if you are not using OEM style speakers, or you may want to purchase an adapter for your new speakers. Replacement is the reverse of removal.
You may need to make the clips on the grille back into a point. One has a small hook that holds the opposite tab to make a point. If you cant get the grille back on the tabs have probably come apart and this simple procedure should allow you to reinstall the speaker grille.

Is the 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible 2.5 V6 engine an interference or noninterference engine?
Got this from another site (http://en.allexperts.com/q/Chrysler-Repair-807/2-5L-V-6-16.htm)
It should answer your question - non-interference!
Question
Hello I have a 1997 Sebring LXI with a going bad water pump I am about to have changed this coming weekend. I was wondering about the piston to valve clearance on these engines if they were designated non interference or interference? I would hate to have the pump totally fail on me driving to be fixed and my pistons slap my valves causing more damage. I also was trying to locate the hydraulic tensioner to replace my original one but cant find it online anywhere, have not asked at local dodge/mitsubishi dealer yet. Is that a part that should not fail or would changing it as well as the pulley and belt with the pump be wise? Had the car only a few weeks but not my first, had a 95 Avenger I loved, and a 97 eclipse with the 3.0 which is the same engine with different stroke. Naggingly having the water pump driven by timing belt is my only complaint due to the lack of consumer grade tools to get down to fix it.(Can not get crankshaft pulley bolt out on my own to change it!)Thanks for your time.
Answer
Hi Travis,
The valve train is non-interference in design. The manual says the cylinder head has valve recesses to provide for valve clearance. On the tensioner, I have not heard of these or the pulley failing. Of course change the belt, unless it has less than 50K miles on it. I hope you have a Haynes or Chrysler shop manual to follow. If not let me know and I'll xerox and postal mail you the pages.

I have a '98 and had to take a thin flat screwdriver and place it in between the metal rails that are underneath the doors that run along the whole side. There are maybe 4 slots where the rails come together. Mine were clogged with dirt and debris so poking the screwdriver up in between the rails released the water and it has not had an issue since.
How do you change the time on a 2002 sebring?
You could start by reading the owners manual if you have one. If not, insert a small diameter rod (a ball point pen tip works fine) into the small buttons on the right side of the clock display labeled H to change the hour and M to change the minute.

How do you replace the tail light bulb on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
"Pull the trunk liner? If so, what a poor design! " I just did it yesterday. The tools needed are a flathead screwdriver and pliers. Surprise, pulling the trunk liner IS what you need to do. When you remove the push pin properly you can reuse it to put the trunk liner back. You should see three plastic wing nuts and the harness connection to the tail light assembly. You need to remove these to take out the assembly. When you do be sure not to remove the other wiring. The socket for the bulb needs to be turned about 60 degrees and it should come right out. Take out the old bulb and put the new one in. The store sold me a packet of dielectric to put on the terminals to help protect them. (It was $1.00 so why not?) Replace the bulb socket in reverse to the way you took it off. Replace the assembly as it was originally in. Put on the wing nuts and reconnect the harness. Replace the liner and you're done.
