Should you connect your PC direct to 220 without a power supply?
No.
A PC would needs to have a power supply in order to take a 110 or 220v power input and convert it to the basic 12v power <and other rails> it uses.
Now most desktops can and do have the ability to handle 220v power. Consult your manual and make sure you have the little red switch on the back set to 220 unless your PSU is auto-switching. As always, check with your manual and manufacturer before assuming you can handle 220.
Hope that helps!
How do rectifiers and transformers work in a PC power supply?
There is no transformer used in PC power supply. There is rectifier used to rectify or convert AC input voltage into DC output voltage.Transformer based rectifier produces some spikes at the output DC voltage, hencethey uses SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) to avoid spikes to the output DC voltage and get a smooth DC voltage.
How many PC's are there currently in the world?
As of June 2008 there are 1 billion PCs in the world.
What is the advantage of openoffice to others?
OpenOffice has several advantages to other office suites.
1. Unlike Microsoft Office or iWork, OpenOffice is available free of charge.
2. Unlike Microsoft Office or iWork, OpenOffice is open-source, and free to modify.
3. Unlike GNOME Office, KOffice, or Siag Office, OpenOffice is written in Java. This means that it does not need to be ported to other operating systems; it should run out-of-the-box on any system with a Java runtime.

While the question is vague, perhaps this can offer the clarification that you need:
Jumpers are small conductive devices that connect to two adjacent posts on a board. When the jumpers are in place they conduct between the posts and the designer can cause the board to act in a different way, based on the presence or absence of a jumper.
Jumpers are used on most PC motherboards as well as many other computer equipment.
Here is some additional information on the subject.
http://www.computerhope.com/help/jumpers.htm haha if you're talking about the jumpers from the movie Jumper... NO dumb 5hit...
How to check the power supply section of motherboard not the smps?
You should not bother to check any power supply in the motherboard. You need to take the motherboard to service centre if faulty.
in the usb port or in the back on the monitor or in the headphone port
What difference between 32MB cache buffer and 64MB cache buffer?
A megabyte is a unit of information storage equal to 8,388,608 bits. The cache buffer is an area of extremely fast-access memory used by the processor, so the larger the area, the more data could take advantage of this speed.
The "difference" between the two is self-evident.
A "modem" is considered a transceiver. It receives data, and sends data. But it also converts signals in the sense that it can be seen as a DAC (digital to analog converter) and a ADC (analog to digital converter). Most dialup, DSL, and cable modems are examples of that - they plug into your computer and converts from-and-to your ISP the data you're receiving and sending. The signals you send from your computer are typically digital and the modem converts them into analog ones.
millibars. One one-thousandth of atmospheric pressure.
Sounds like its working to me. Just click on the removable disk to open the flash drive files. Is this some kind of trick question? (aka nothing is wrong)
What is definition by operation support system?
When monitoring and controlling its activities a business can make immediate use of the information from its operational support system to make its minute-by-minute or hour-by-hour decisions. For a restaurant, for example, some of their products are freshly prepared, while others are cooked in batches or need time to defrost. If customer orders are recorded on an EPOS system, then an operational support system can alert the restaurant management as to when they need to cook or defrost more bulk products.
Can you change the internal hard drive while the computer is running?
This seems to be pretty unsafe. I wouldn't try doing anything like this while the power is on.
If your recipe database is running pretty slow do you need a new hard drive to speed it up?
Yes, a new hard drive would likely help.
What is the most widely used handheld computer?

What is duo processor n mobile technology in laptop?
Processor (aka CPU or microprocessor) is the brain of your computer. It reads instructions from your software and tells your computer what to do. With its two execution cores, the Intel Core Duo processor is optimized for multi-threaded applications and multitasking. You can simultaneously run multiple demanding applications such as graphics-intensive games or serious number-crunching programs - while downloading music or running virus-scanning security programs in the background.
What causes excessive data collisions on an ethernet network?
There are two main causes, malformed packets, which could be a computer forming the communications in the protocol suite (TCP/IP) incorrectly.
A much more common problem is a chattering NIC, which is a computer sending out communication bursts, even though other computers are trying to communicate with it.
Does socket affect computer upgrading?
The CPU socket does not affect computer upgrading as much as one might think. There are some motherboards that can have a different CPU installed, resulting in increased performance. Many motherboards, however, are designed with a specific CPU in mind, and it is better, and cheaper in the long run, to replace the motherboard or even the entire system unit. (You can buy a whole new system for less than the price of replacing a motherboard, memory, and hard drives.)
What is Used by older motherboards and expansion cards and a few newer ones?
A motherboard has expansion slots, most boards even new ones will have a pci, pci-e 1.0, slots. Depending on how old the motherboard is it will not work well with todays software. The expansion slots today are mostly used for:
- Adding or replacing a video card if the orginial video port goes bad or not detailed enough (pixals in the image) to work with certain software.
- Adding USB ports if the if the older computer does not have enough or any. This way more modern perpherals (printers, keyboards, mouses, external hard-drives...etc.) can be used.
- Adding or replacing a network card.
Now take the newest boards, they have pci-e 2.0 16x, which are the fastest slots, but they still have a pci slot for say a wireless card.
Many of the connections for video, sound, keyboard, printer and anything else used on the computer is connected some way or another all built into the motherboard most times. Sometimes these connections go bad. Rather than buy another motherboard the expansion slots offers and alternative and possible upgrade to the repair of the problem.
