Car idling rough?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If your car is idling rough it is likely due to an issue with the fuel system spark plugs or the ignition system. To identify and resolve the issue you should:

  • Check the air filter and replace it if necessary.
  • Clean the fuel injectors and replace them if needed.
  • Check the fuel pressure and adjust it if necessary.
  • Replace the spark plugs and check the spark plug wires.
  • Check the ignition system for any issues.

If the issue persists after taking these steps it may be necessary to take the car to a professional mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.

Where can you find the low side AC valve on a 1997 Lincoln Continental?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The TOP line on the Condenser is the HIGH side-& the lines/hoses are smaller.Just start @ the compressor opposite the high side & U will find the LOW port.ITS usally close 2 the receiver/drier.

I just charged my AC last night. I found the low side port under the hood, right up by the windshield on the pasenger side, about 2.5 feet in from the side of the car. If you use a flashlight you can see the port go down about 5 inches to where it turns into whatever it goes to. It had a black cap. The recharging kit will only fit on the low side port. The high side port is next to the radiator, but I think you would only need to know this if you need to drain the system. The refridgerant is R134a, the same kind you can pick up at wallmart. You do not need to worry about it being R12.

This answer helped me find mine on my 1996. It had a blue cap right against the firewall on passenger side about 2ft from side of car.

What causes you to hear sound?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

How the Ear Works The ear has three main parts: the outer, middle and inner ear. The outer ear (the part you can see) opens into the ear canal. The eardrum separates the ear canal from the middle ear. Small bones in the middle ear help transfer sound to the inner ear. The inner ear contains the auditory (hearing) nerve, which leads to the brain. Any source of sound sends vibrations or sound waves into the air. These funnel through the ear opening, down the ear, canal, and strike your eardrum, causing it to vibrate. The vibrations are passed to the small bones of the middle ear, which transmit them to the hearing nerve in the inner ear. Here, the vibrations become nerve impulses and go directly to the brain, which interprets the impulses as sound (music, voice, a car horn, etc.). www.entnet.org/healthinfo/ears/ear.cfm

Where is the air filter on a 1999 Dodge Caravan and how do you replace it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If it the same as the 1998 model, there should be a black plastic box on the right side of the engine compartment that says "remove to service air filter element below", the filter is NOT in this box, it is in another plastic box below this one. You must remove the two screws on the box you see, romove the two hoses connected to it, one you just pull off, the other you must remove a clamp to remove. After you do this you can see the box containing the filter it is set vertically and has two metal clips keeping it closed, just reomve the clips, and change the filter, dont forget to replace both hoses and both screws.

Why does your 1995 dodge caravan have white smoke that smells very strong of gas coming out of my tailpipe?

User Avatar

Asked by Ebrewer

That's probably unburned fuel. The "check engine" light usually means you've got a problem with the engine emission controls. It's probably a faulty sensor or valve. I'd suggest taking it to a dealership to have the engine "scoped".

When I followed instructions given previously for flashing lights on wiper panel in 97 Plymouth voyager pressing rear wiper button to exit makes all lights start flashing again?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

== == I'll post the instructions again, in case my experience is similar to yours. This is what I did, and it worked.

Don't push the Exit Button (rear wiper) until everything stops or lights start flashing simultaneous. (Alternate flash means it is testing; Simultaneous means failure.)

If you finish the test and it shows success (only the rear wiper indicator is flashing), and you exit and THEN they start blinking again, the test will not help you. You have a short somewhere that keeps resetting your console.

Here is what I have done. I know you've already tried this. Follow these instructions, and just wade through what you have already done. I have tried to explain some common problems or errors with the tests (See italicized.)

Start the car.

Turn blowers on FULL, and open all A/C ports (Rear, front...). If you can tell, it is better to have the A/C compressor off. (Often you can't tell, or you wouldn't be concerned with the flashing lights, right?) Turn front air to PANEL.

Press simultaneously the Rear Wiper (not the intermittent) button and the wash button. Hold for 5 seconds until all lights are constant. Release buttons and allow the tests to run (two minutes or so.)

When the Rear Wiper and the Intermittent Rear Wiper indicators are flashing alternately, it is going through the Calibration Test. When the A/C (snowflake) and the Recirculation indicators are flashing alternately, it is going through the Cool Down Test. (In my case, both sets flashed alternately during the entire test.)

Tests are successful when only the Rear Wiper indicator is flashing slowly. Push it to exit the program, and you're done.

Often, after doing these tests for the first time, the Cool Down Test fails, and the A/C and the Recirculation indicators flash simultaneously (though, just these two instead of the four.) Simply run the Cool Down Test independently by pressing simultaneously the A/C and the Wash Buttons. Hold for 5 seconds, and allow the test to run.

This may take more than a few runs to finally set. Mine worked when I ran the test as soon as I started the car the next time (after the car had cooled off completely overnight). When all lights go out except for the Rear Wiper, push the Rear Wiper to exit. Success!

Some have suggested turning the compessor off and running the car for 15 minutes previous to the Cool Down Test. This did not work for me. But it is true that if the compressor is cold (with condensation), the Cool down test will usually fail. Try, try again. If your A/C compressor is in good condition, it will eventually set. If nothing seems to work, your A/C might be have a problem.

WHY don't the manuals come with this information??

Hope I have helped you.
