Dodge Durango

The low pressure port for a 2001 Durango is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It is mounted on the ac lines, about half way between the radiator and firewall, sticking straight up.

Drain coolent, if old dispose of properly, remove belt, disconect hoses on water pump, remove fan cover, remove water pump. take fan off pump, put on new pump, seal gasket, install pump. Replace items in order reversed order you removed them. Refill coolent, turn motor on check for leaks, top off coolent. Check coolent again after motor has cooled down after test drive.

You simply see if it spins freely. If it does, the clutch fan is shot! Do this while motor is turned off The fan should spin freely if the engine is cold. If the engine is warmed up, shut down the engine and check the fan. Warm, the fan should turn, but should have some drag to it.

This is a 15 minute job... use a 15MM socket and ratchet (set to loosen) to move the tension pulley (located directly below the oil dipstick) toward the battery side of the engine compartment. this will allow enough slack in the old belt to pull it off of the alternator. It will then come off everything else. Keep track of the routing for the new belt, or refer to the sticker over the radiator, for reinstallation. Use the 15MM socket and rachet to move the tension pulley in again to reinstall the new belt. Have Fun!! These used to be a pain in the a**!!!!

Do not use 10W 30 motor oil in any Mercedes Benz. The factory has tested different formulas and weights of motor oil, as well as needed additives to prevent premature wear. Always use Mobil 1 0W 40 motor oil, 8 1/2 quarts for a dry fill but for an average oil change you can use 8 quarts because you will always have some oil left in the engine. Always use a MB fleece lined oil filter and always replace the four O-rings to make sure you have a proper seal. You will have an extra O-ring in the package, this is for other models because just about every MB made in the past 10 years all use the same oil filter. Also, change your oil after 8,000 miles and not 10,000 miles as listed in the manual. This will help later down the road if you plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time. If you service this vehicle properly, you should see 300,000 miles without any major repairs, you will also see above average resale value. Keith.

red 5 year, it is a HOAT type.

It is under the vehicle on the driver's side bolted against the frame. It has 3 hoses connected to it and on mine it is black plastic.

P0700 : EATX code present

This means that the trans computer has set a code. You need to have the trans computer checked for codes.

I have an 03 quad cab with a 5.9 and it takes approx 4.4, possibly 4.8 litres. Doesn't seem like much does it? Start at 4 litres and add as you go. Its an old school v8 that doesn't get extremely hot, so I'm guessing that's why it only takes 4.4-4.8l.

Should be on top of manifold/engine. See below- this is what it looks like, has 2 bolts to hold it on and a plug connector. Do not start engine with it off, extra air could cause over revving,.

When changing or adding fluid to a car a person needs to have the right type of fluids as well. A 2000 Dodge Durango uses ATF+4 as power steering fluid.

Idle speed is not adjustable. It is controlled by the engine copmuter. If your idle speed is too high or low you have a problem with a sensor or the idle air controll actuator. Also, a weak battery can cause the idle too be erratic

Water pump replacement on the 98 requires a special air tool. You need a fan removal tool which requires an air hammer. If you try without it you will bust your knuckles. The fan pully can't be held by typical fan removal tools so you need the air tool. Save the money on bandages for your busted knuckles and buy the tool. The manual says you should remove the shroud to get the fan out, but I managed to get it out without removing the shroud.

I would also recommend using an air ratchet to remove the water pump bolts. There is a lot of stuff in the front and not a lot of room so not having to move your hand really helps. The next problem is the heater hose outlet. It's a hard pipe that comes off the water pump. Use a torch to remove it. Reinstall it on the water pump using the o-ring and as much copper form-a-gasket as you can get in there. You don't want it to leak or blow steam. Past those problems it's a typical water pump change. Make sure you get a paper gasket and liberally apply the aforementioned form-a-gasket to seal the paper gasket. You don't want to have to do it twice.

Lastly, when reassembling the system, make sure the heater hose outlet is firmly attached to the engine with the bolt on clip. Do not leave the clip unattached because the pressure in the system will be sufficient to blow it out. Second degree burns are no fun and anti-freeze is ten dollars a gallon. Don't burn yourself and your paycheck by trying to save a step.

first thing that you do is tame off the timing belt cover. then you remove the timing belt. there are two components on the engine that are driven by the timing belt the lower one is the oil pump the upper one is the water pump then you locate and remove the bolts for the water pump. pull the water pump off then replace with new water pump and gasket.

I have had my flasher unit go bad. I was surprised when neither myself, a reputable auto parts store, nor the parts dept. at the local Dodge dealer knew where it was. A peak in the biggest parts book revealed it to be part 1-56021915AA, and it is located on a fuse block attached to the main block behind the driver side access door. The relay is accessable from under the dash, its way up high on the fuse block and its green in color. There may be bundles of wires blocking its access, having small hands would help also. I hope this info helps out somebody.

I recently replaced the fuel pump on my '97 with the 4.0 V8 and I would guess that the procedure is the same. First I went to the public library, found a repair manual, and photocopied the appropriate sections. After removing the hoses, belt cover, belts, etc. you'll get to the pump. The pump is strictly the impeller and pully wheel. I spent about $50.00 at NAPA for my unit. You will, however, need a special Cadilac/Buick/Olds removal tool for the Northstar engine. GM prices run from $100 to $180.00 on this tool. However, you may find a tool rental shop with the unit, so make a few calls. I ended up purchasing the too from a MATCO Tools distributor for $26.00. It worked and I'll probably never need it again, but $26.00 is much better the $100.00. After replacing the pump, replace everything else per the manual innstructions. The job goes rather quickly when you have the right tool. Hope this helps.

Well, after removing the door panel and disconnecting all of the necessary parts(please be careful in doing this, some of the parts will break quite easily), look toward the inside front of the door (near the hinged area) - there's a track located there that extends all the way up to the top of the door and this is probably the reason your window keeps coming off track( this was the case with mine) - There's a bolt that holds the track in place. Loosen it a little to get the window back into the track. Put the window back into the track but make sure that the rubber guide on the upper and lower part of the door remains around the windows edge, re-tighten the bolt and then reconnect the window controls to test it. It should flow up and down as if new. .
