I am not a mechanic, but your fob connects electrical systems of the car. Disconnected battery means it doesn't get the message to open the car.

So far the 6.7 has had tons of issues, mostly due to the emission standards they were forced to comply with, an after market exhaust will fix allot of that but it is illegal and voids the warranty, so I would personally buy a 5.9 instead.
