First, brush it, then wash it, blow dry it, brush it again, then possibly trim.
Always wash and completely dry your dog before you try and cut or brush out it's hair. if there are many knots do try to brush them out before you wet them down cause that could cause them to get tighter.
Once the dog is washed and completely dry this will cause more hair to release so you can brush them out better or your clipper blade will cut through the hair easier.
Always use a clipper from front to back, top to bottom on a dog never against the grain.

How do u use Permethrin as shampoo? Strength?
How often? I have fleas all over. It is constant torture..Dr. 2 terms and another on Jan. They gave me cream for my whole body and hair. No way.
I've studied this and I see and feel what they have no idea how to cure this or what it can do to one's
body and self esteem. No one else has fleas, only me. I know I'm allergic to a part of the life cycle.
I break out in exema, dermatitis or hives. No Dr.is thrilled to deal with fleas. It has affected the quality of my life. I've suffered for 6 years. My dog has no fleas. I take 15 Zertec each day.
Help...I am 68!!!

Why do dogs drag their butts on carpet after being groomed?
There are several reasons a dog drags its rear end across the carpet. Itch, irritation, fleas or even blocked anal glands. If it is occurring after being groomed your groomer may not have rinsed the shampoo off completely or the area may irritated due to being messed with during the grooming process. Or it could be a sign of a more serious problem where your dogs anal glands have become blocked and need to be expressed. If the problem persists you may need to see a vet to have them expressed so they do not rupture, thus hurting your dog AND your wallet.

Does a dog groomer at a pet grooming boutique need to be tipped?
Yes, think of it this way........when you get a hair cut,or when your child gets a hair cut do you tip the stylist?I do.A groomers job is more difficult, the dog or cat squirms, maybe even nips, but when you pick up your precious pet they look great and the groomer never complains. So my answer is yes by all means tip the groomer at least $2-3 dollars. Henbane: Dog grooming is a service and not always an easy or a well paid one so a good thing to do is tip. If you can tip a hair stylist, waitress and even the person who carries your groceries to your car, you can tip your groomer.

Which earns more money owning a dog grooming salon or dog grooming van?
There is several factors that must be considered. First the mobile van is limited. Only one person can groom at a time in the van and since you are traveling from place to place, in a 10 hour period, you are limited to about 5-8 pets a day. In a salon you can build up to several groomers doing many dogs. However, in a mobile you can charge 100% more than the salon. If you charge $60 for a shihtzu in your shop, you could charge $120 or more in the mobile. In a salon you have monthly rent and utilities, in a van you have repairs and gas. I suggest researching which service your area has less of and than filling the void. You should note that only 4% of grooming clients use mobile
What is the average cost for table salt in a year?
If a person was following the daily recommended allowance for sodium and he/she received all their sodium from table salt, they would take 4000 mg (4 grams) per day, which is equivalent to 1600 mg of sodium. So table salt, sodium chloride, requirement for 1 year would be 4 grams x 365 days = 1460 grams of salt. In the United States, salt is sold by the pound (which weighs 454 grams). So, in a year, a person would need 3.22 pounds of salt, which costs about 85 cents per pound, so the total in salt would be $2.73 US.
Most of the sodium we eat is not from salt but is already in the food, so this answer could vary greatly depending on your diet.
