Your pregnant would you put her on the left side in recovery position?

it depends on the position of the baby in the womb but if the baby is in the normal safe position it doesnt really matter but just be safe when moving her

It does actually matter. Putting the pregnant individual on her right side could be fatal. The weight of the baby could cut off blood flow to and from he inferior vena cave, which would more than likely kill her.

Is norovirus airborne Can you catch it from someone breathing on you?

Norovirus is said to not be airborne. You have to get the virus in your system, typically through your mouth. If someone who is carrying the germ touches something with uncleaned hands, then you touched that and put your hand in your mouth or ate with dirty hands then you can get it. Also, in reasturants, if whomever has preparred your meal had it you may get it if your food was contaminated. They say the only way it is airborne, is if someone is vomiting while you are near and the particles are spewed into the air for you to breathe before they land on a surface

Are there any immediate concerns Cut index finger on top at the knuckle?

With any injury the first thing that you should evaluate is the ABC's, airway, breathing, and circulation. With a cut finger airway and breathing are most likely not of much concern unless the finger got cut in addition to another injury such as a fall. Here the immediate concern is the "c" part of the equation, circulation. This means that your biggest concern is blood loss. The first thing you want to evaluate in terms of circulation is to quickly determine what kind of vascular injury is present. If it is an arterial injury the blood will be a bright red and will bleed in "spurts" that correlate with the heart beat. This is the most serious injury to expect in this case because one can loose a lot of blood quickly if untreated. If the injury is to a vein (most likely in this case) then the blood will be a darker red and will ooze out slowly. An injury to a lesser vessel such as capillaries is of less significance. The cut should be cleaned under cold water, dried, and bandaged. Ideally, you should use an antibiotic cream (such as neosporin) applied to the bandage to minimize infection. Until the bandage can be applied try to keep your hand above your heart to reduce blood loss and make bandaging easier. Ice may also be applied. Multiple layers of bandaging may be needed. If the bleeding seems severe or doesn't stop after twenty minutes then you should consider going to an emergency room or urgent care clinic. Long term, you should be concerned with infection. Although you may have used neosporin, you may still get an infection from bacteria on your skin such as staph or strep, or from the source of the cut (i.e., tetanus from a piece of metal found in the dirt that cut your finger). Infection can be suspected if the tissue around the cut becomes tender, turns red or purple, and/or you come down with a fever within days after sustaining the cut. In this case you need to get professional treatment.

What is the difference between a swath and a sling?

A sling is used to hold and support an injured limb, typically an arm. However, on its own, a sling does not restrict movement in all directions. A second securement - known as a swath, is therefore used.

In the context of an arm sling, a swath is a piece of cloth wrapped over the sling and humerus, around the torso and under the opposite shoulder. This reduces movement of the injured arm in the transverse plane much better than with the sling alone.

Hi, Depending on if you have received level of first aid training this will depend.

If you have basic or no training your aim is to keep the patient alive regardless of any suspected or obvious spinal injury. Therefore you should move the neck to keep the airway open and clear.

However, if you have received first aid training in the 'jaw thrust', which is where you are showing how how to open the airway with minimal damage caused to the spine.

REMEMBER BY READING FIRST AID INSTRUCTIONS DOES NOT CLASSIFY YOU AS A FIRST AIDER. YOU SHOULD ATTEND A FIRST AID COURSE.
