Why do you celebrate Van Mahotsav in the month of July?
we celebrate VAN MAHOTSAV on July 4th because we need to spread the word to people telling them not to cut down trees because more and more trees are being cut down but what people don't understand is there are houses and other buildings being put up in place of the trees but if we don't have trees we don't have oxygen and if we don't have oxygen then people cant breathe in the new houses or buildings so basically they are killing people by taking oxygen to put up houses that they don't even need to be built
How much wood was needed to last a winter in Maine in the 1700s?
How much timber was needed in 1700s Maine during winter would depend on:
My sister lived in the PA mountains and used a wood stove to heat 2 large basement rooms of a 3-bedroom 1-story house ( 7 rooms total in the house). I believe she went through 4 to 6 cords of cut timber (wood) each winter. She kept her gas heat set low and relied on the wood stove's heat to rise to the first floor.
Single floor or 1 and 1/2 story cabins in the 1700s to mid 1800s had either one or a double fireplace on the first floor for heating and cooking.
When is the best time to visit Everglades?
Heat and bugs determine the best time of year to visit Everglades National Park, an hour's drive southwest of Miami, Florida. The coldest months kill large numbers of mosquitoes and no-see-ums, making December through April the ideal time to go. Expect a day temperature in the 70s and evenings to dip to the 50s. This is also the dry season, bringing few showers.
If you plan to go on day hikes or boat tours, aim for midweek to avoid crowds.
Those looking to plan a multi-day paddling trip should note that backcountry camping permits can only be secured the day prior or day of a trip's start. This means that you may not get the raised platform, or Chickee, that you had hoped for. The best way to deal with this situation is to avoid major holidays and three-day weekends. The exception is New Year's Eve: Few people celebrate this night in the wilderness, so you'll likely have your pick of the park. Another safe bet is to visit just after a cold snap.
