I have the identical problem on a 1991 Jimmy. I have replaced the blower motor and flushed the heater coil. I know the vents are working properly because they work when the temperature is selected to cold. I am wondering if there is something under the hood that redirects the aif flow either through the cooling coil or the heater coil based on the position of the temperature control. If so possibly the heater coil (air side) is clogged. I noticed that the heater coil is below the AC coil so it is possible that debris is down in it. I may try to pull it and clean it. Have you tried that?

Look on the passengers side , under the hood and find the big round part that has tubes on it at the top . You will also notice a screw on valve cover unless it's gone . That's the low side where you install the new refrigerant . If you look lower you will see another screw on valve unless it's missing that is on a thinner metal line not connected to the big round metal part . That's the high pressure valve .
You can't screw this up , because the new can of ac has a rubber tube with an end on it that will not fit onto the high valve and only will fit on the low pressure valve up on top .

Had this problem on my 95 recently, while on vacation. I was able to pull down the top of the tailgate panel from the inside, just low enough to push the actuator arm with a screwdriver and get the latch to release. This may break a small screw-mount on the panel at the top, but you can't tell on mine that it's broken. Found out the plastic actuator arm broke in half that unlatches the window. Dealer tried to convince me I had to buy the whole actuator for @$80. NAPA got me TWO in a pack for $5! Good luck with yours.

1 Fuel pump strainer : (some pumps come with this already if not you will have to purchase, do NOT reuse the old one)
1 Fuel Filter : every time I replace a pump, I always replace this part because it is the number one reason for pump failure. FYI its recommended replacement is every 3 oil changes)
1 Multi-pack of fuel hose connectors
***optional 1 Fuel gauge sending unit: (not needed but while you are in there u might as well replace this especially if you have issues with your fuel gauge
On the 1985 jimmy 4 cyl. the fuel pump is located within the tank. I recommend syphoning all fuel from the tank prior to dropping it. Also you may want to raise the vehicle on jack stands just to make your life a little easier. There will be two straps holding it in place prior to doing anything, I would soak the threads of the bolts real good with some P.B. Blaster multiple times before removal. You will have to disconnect the fill neck hose, (given the amount of room) it is usually easier to loosen it at your fuel door. MAKE SURE that the fuel pump wire harness IS DISCONNECTED from the top of the pump assy. On some of the models that I have worked on there may be a cross-member that will have to be removed due to it being in the way, if so soak those bolts with the P.B Blaster as well. Go ahead and remove the nuts from the fuel tank straps, you will have to bend the strap back just a little bit to get the tank to fall, when it does disconnect the fuel lines from the assy and make sure all other lines connected to the tank are removed from the tank. You should be able to slide the tank out from under the vehicle. Although there is not too much to it, just labor intensive, your best bet is getting a Haynes manual to walk you through the process step by step if you have never pulled a fuel tank. The manual usually sells for about 15.00 at any local parts store. Also a second set of hands will make this job a lot easier. I hope that I have answered your question to its fullest.
